1 1 Welcome Welcome to the bright new world of the HUAWEI MediaPad 10 Link + (HUAWEI MediaPad for short). With your HUAWEI MediaPad, you can: • Surf the Internet at lightning-fast speeds. • Take photos and record vi deos anytime, anywhere. • Enjoy the latest and hottest movies.
2 2 Getting started HUAWEI MediaPad 10 Link+ at a Glance Congratulations on your purcha se of the HUAWEI MediaPad. Press and hold the power key to pow er on or off your device or restart it.
3 1. Open the card slot cover. 2. Insert and push the SIM card into the card slot with the golden contacts on the card facing upward. Then check that the SIM card is completely ins erted. Your HUAWEI MediaPad supports standard SIM cards whose dimens ions are 25 mm x 15 mm x 0.
4 2. Connect the charger plug to a power outlet. • If the device is powered on, th e ba ttery is charging when the battery icon in the status bar changes to . • If the device is powe red off, the battery is charging when is displayed on the screen.
5 Your home screen at a glance Notification and status icons The notification and status bars may display the following icons to info rm you of your HUAWEI MediaPad's status. 1 Display area: Display widgets and application icons. 2 Back key: Touch to return to the previous screen.
6 Common keys Shortcut operations • To open an application: On the home screen, touch the application. • To switch between the hom e screen and its ext ensions : On th e home screen, flick your finger left or right.
7 • To customize the home screen: Touch and hold a b lank area on the home screen. On the displayed option menu, set the wallpaper, w idgets, and more. • To display new messages and the shortcut panel, flick your finger up on the status bar. To turn on or off a function, touch its shortcut icon.
8 3 Text input Your HUAWEI MediaPad com es with multiple input methods. You can quickly enter text using the onscreen keyboard. • Touch a text input field to bring up the o nscreen keyboard. • When you are done, touch to hide the onscreen keyboard.
9 4 Network connection Connecting to a Wi-Fi network When both a Wi -Fi network and a mobile network are available simultaneously, the HUAWEI MediaPad connects to the Wi-Fi network by de fault. If the Wi-Fi netw ork disconnects, the HUAWEI MediaPad then automatic ally connects to the mobile network.

11 5 Network sharing You can use various methods to share your HUAWEI MediaPad's data connect ion with other wireless devices. Sharing your network using a Wi-Fi hotspot By setting up your HUAWEI M ediaPad as a Wi-Fi hotspot, you can share your mobile network with other devices.
12 Sharing your data connection using Bluetooth tethering With Bluetooth tethering, you can share your HUAWEI MediaPad's data connection with other Bluetooth devices. 1. On the home screen, touch Settings . 2. Touch More… > Tethering & portable hotspot under WIRELESS & NETWORKS .
13 6 Managing applications Installing an application When you install an application, the " Install blocked " message may be displayed. Read the message carefully. If you wa nt to continue with the installation, follow the onscreen instructions.

15 7 Email Adding an email account Email parameters must be set when you add an em a il account. For details, contact your email service provider. 1. On the home screen, touch Email . 2. On the Add accoun t screen, select the account type you want. 3.

17 8 Multimedia Importing photos You can import photos from a cam era or other storag e device (s uch as a USB flas h drive or phone) to your HUAWEI MediaPad using only a USB OTG cable. To purchase a USB OTG cable, please contact an Huaw ei authorized supplier or your device vendor.
18 Viewing photos or videos Gallery enables you to conveniently view photos an d videos. It automatically searches and organizes photos and videos stored on your HUAWEI M ediaPad 's internal st orage and th e microSD card for your easy reference.
19 Editing a photo Your HUAWEI MediaPad provides powerful photo ed iting functio ns making your photos even more stunning. You can a pply diversified effects, such as removing red eyes, f illing light, or cropping a photo. 1. Touch Gallery and locate the photo you want to edit.
20 9 Customized settings The HUAWEI MediaPad allows you to set a desire d photo as the wallpaper , design home screen widgets, and set desired ringtones. Changing the theme Your HUAWEI MediaPad comes with multiple themes, easily a llowing your device to have a new look as often as you want.
21 Managing your home screen 1. On the home screen, touch and hold a blank area. 2. In the displayed di alog box, touch Thumbnails . 3. On the thumbnail screen, you can: • Touch and hold a home screen thumbnail to move its position. • Touch to add a hom e screen.
22 Setting the ringtone 1. On the home screen, touch Settings > Sound . 2. Select the desired ringtone type. 3. Follow the onscreen instructions to select your favorite music or recording as the ringtone. Setting the font size 1. On the home screen, touch Settings > Display .
23 10 File sharing Sharing files using Wi-Fi Direct Wi-Fi Direct is a function to connect wireless devi ces using a Wi-Fi network. After wi reless devices are connected, they can quickly share files among them. 1. On the home screen, touch Settings > Wi-Fi .
24 Copying files from a computer Use a USB cable to connect your HUAWEI MediaPad to a computer. Follow your HUAWEI MediaPad's onscreen instructions to s elect a connection method. You can then transfer files between your HUAWEI MediaPad and the computer.
25 11 Contacts Creating a contact 1. On the home screen, touch People to display your contacts list. 2. Touch . If you are creating contacts for the first time, your HUAWEI MediaPad prompts you to select a storage location. When you create contacts next time, the new co ntacts are stored in the same storage location by default.
26 3. In the displ ayed dialog box, select an import method and fo llow the onscreen instr uctions to import contacts. If you choose to import contac ts from another device using Bluetooth, turn on Bluetooth o n the device and follow the o nscreen instructions to pair with your HUAWEI MediaPad.
27 12 Calls The Wi-Fi only version of the HUAW EI MediaPad does not support this function. Making an emergency call In the event of an emergency, you can make emergency calls without a SIM card. However, you must still be within the coverage area. 1. On the home screen, touch Phone .

30 14 Settings Setting the screen timeout period You can set a screen timeout period so your HUAWEI MediaPad automatically turn offs the screen to save power. 1. On the home screen, touch Settings > Display > Sleep . 2. Choose a timeout period. Setting a screen lock 1.
