18 Getting Star ted 1.7 Star t Menu The Start menu is located at the bottom-left corner of the Home screen and displays various pr ogram icons that are spread acr oss one or more screens . T o see the av ailable programs in the Start menu On the Home screen, click Start .

24 Using Phone F eatures 2.1 Using the SM T5800 Y ou can use your phone to make, r eceive, and keep tr ack of voice calls, and send text messages (SMS, Short Message Ser vice) and MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) messages. Y ou can also dial a phone number directly from Contacts.

Y ou can gain access to all f eatures and programs from the Home screen. The top of the Home screen displa ys icons for the pr ograms that you hav e most recently used .

Y ou can also efficiently manage your files and f olders using File Explorer installed on your phone.

46 Organizing Phone Information 5.1 C ontacts Contacts is your address book and inf ormation storage for the people and businesses y ou communicate with. If you use Outlook on your PC, you can synchr onize contacts between your phone and PC. Crea te a contact on your SM T5800 T o creat e a new contact on your SM T5800 1.

52 Exchanging Messages 6.1 Messaging Messaging is where all of your e-mail, text message, and MMS accoun ts are located. When y ou receive a new message, you can open tha t par ticular message from the Home scr een.
Exchanging Messages 53 T o rec eive a text message T ext messages are automatically received when the P hone function is tur ned on. When the phone is turned off , text messages are held by your wir eless ser vice pr ovider until the next time the phone is turned on.
54 Exchanging Messages Edit MMS settings When you purchase y our phone, it is already pr eset with your wireless service provider’ s MMS server settings. If you accidentally lost the preset settings or y ou changed to another wireless service provider , follow the steps below to configur e MMS settings.

If there is more than one attachment, click the other attachments to do wnload them. Y ou can directly open the file in the associated program after y ou download them by clicking the attachment again.

70 Getting Connected 8.1 C omm Manager Comm Manager acts like a central switcher that lets y ou enable or disable phone features as w ell as manage your data connections easily . T o open Comm Manager: • Click Start > Comm Manager . 1 . Click to toggle between turning on or off Fligh t mode.

Phones with Bluet ooth capabilities can exchange inf ormation within a distance of about 10 meters without requiring a phy sical connection. Enter a passcode (the same passcode tha t is entered on the device requesting the partnership) to establish a secure connection.
Getting Connected 75 4. Select the name of the headset, and click Next . 5. In Passc ode , enter the alphanumeric passcode for the Bluetooth headset, then click Next . The passcode is usually “0000” . A message will appear saying that your phone has connected to the headset, click OK .
76 Getting Connected 7. If you beamed a calendar , task, or contact item to your c omputer and it is not automatically added to Outlook, click File > Import and Exp ort to import it to M icr osoft Outlook on your computer .
