Operations 17 Oper ati ons P ower up the server 1. Connect each power cord to the serv er. 2. Connect each power co rd to the power source. 3. Press the Power On/Standby button. The server ex its standby mo de and applies full p ower to the system . The system pow er LED changes fro m amber to green.
Operations 18 WARNING: To reduce the risk of p ersonal injury, be careful when pres sing the server rail - release latches and sliding t he server into the rack.
Operations 19 To access t he front panel components, unlock and then remove the security bezel. Remove the acc ess panel WARNING: To reduce the risk o f personal inj ury from hot surfa ces, allow the d rives and the internal system components to cool before touchi ng them.
Operations 20 If the access panel latch is lo cked, use a T - 15 Torx screw driver to unlock the latch. I nstall the acc ess panel 1. Place the access panel on top of t he server with the access panel latch open. A llow the panel to extend past the rear of the server by approximately 1 .

Install the ai r baffle CAUTION: For proper cooling, do not op erate the server without the a ccess panel, baffles, expansion s lot covers, or bla nks installed. If the server suppor ts hot - plug component s, minimize the amount of time the access panel is o pen.
Operations 22 4. Power up the serv er (on page 17 ). Remove the PCI riser cage CAUTION: To prevent damag e to the server or expans ion boards, power down the s erver, and disconnect all power cords before removi ng or installing the PCI riser ca ge. 1.

Operations 24 1. Align the PCI riser board with the corresponding connectors on the system board, and the n press down the PCI riser cage. 2. If installing the secondary PCI riser cage, remov e the PCI blank. Retain the blank and screws for future use.
Operations 25 4. Tighten the two screws to secure the c age. 5. Install the access panel (on page 20 ). 6. Do one of the following: o Slide the server into the rack. o Install the server into the rack (" Installi ng the server into the rack " on pag e 30 ).
Setup 26 S etup O ptional installa tion services Delivered b y experienced, certified engin eers, HP Care Pack services help y ou keep your serve rs up and running with support packages tailored specifically for HP ProLiant systems. HP Care Packs let you integrate both hardware and so ftware support in to a single package .
Setup 27 • Leave a minimum cl earance of 63.5 cm (25 inches ) in front of the rack. • Leave a minimum clear ance of 76.2 cm (30 inc hes) b ehind the rack. • Leave a minimum c learance of 121.9 cm (48 inches) from the back of the rack to the back of another rack or row of racks.

Setup 30 WARNING: When insta lling a server in a telco rack, be sure that th e rack frame is a dequately secured at the top and bottom to the bui lding structure. Setup 32 d. Position the power cord inside the clip, and then close the clip. e. Slide the clip forwa rd until it is flush agai nst the edge of the power cord plug.

Transfer this information to the new system board to ensure normal server operation when the system board is rep laced.
