2 Safety and Maintenance Guidelines Important Safety Information A power co rd is included with the monitor. If an othe r cord is used, be su re that the power source and connection are a ppropriate for this mon itor. For information on the correct po wer cord set to use with the monitor, see Power Cord Set Requirements on page 38 .
Safety Precautions ● Use only a power sou rce and connection compa tible with this monitor, as indicated on the label of the power adapter. ● Be sure that the total ampere rating of the produc ts .
Cleaning the Monitor CAUTION: Spray the cleaner on a cloth a nd use the da mp cloth to gently wipe the scree n surface. Never spray the clean er directly on th e screen surface.
3 Setting Up the Monitor Unpacking the Monitor 1. Unpack the monitor. Make sure all co ntents are included. Store the packing bo x. 2. Turn off the comp uter and othe r attached devices .
2. Slide the pedestal into the slot on the base (1) until the pedestal clicks into the base. NOTE: The bottom side of the mo nitor base might look diff erent on your mode l. 2511x and 2 711x models on ly : Install one screw (2) in the base to secure the pedestal to the base.
Connecting Monitor Cables CAUTION: Before connecting cables to the mo nitor, ensure that the compute r and monitor are powered off. NOTE: When using a DVI, VGA, or HDMI signal, you must connect yo ur audio output to external speakers. The video source is determined by the video cable used.
Connecting the DVI-D Vide o Cable (Select Models) Connect one end o f the DVI-D video cable to the back of the monitor and the othe r end to the DVI-D video connector on the computer. You can use this cable only if your computer ha s a DVI compliant graphics card tha t is either integrated or insta lled.
Getting HDMI S ound If you use HDMI to connect to a monitor model wi thout s peakers, you must a ctivate HD MI sound by adjusting the se tting in Microsoft Windows. If HDMI is not activated, you can not hear any sound. To activate HDMI sound on your computer: 1.
2. Connect the rou nd end of the p ower supply cord to the monitor, and then connect one end o f the power cord to the powe r supply and the ot h er end to a grounded el ectrical outlet.
Installing the Cable Management Clip Install the cable management clip over the in put cable and power cord to gath er them together behind the monitor. Figure 3 -7 Installing the Cable management Clip High-Bandwidth Digital Cont ent Protection (HDCP) select models Your monitor supports HDCP and can recei ve hi gh-definitio n content.
When the monitor is po wered on, a Monito r Status message is displaye d for five seconds an d the power source LED on the rear of th e monitor is gr een.
Connecting External Speaker s and Audio Cable (Select Models) Use the following procedure to connect the external spe akers to a computer. 1. Turn the computer on. 2. Connect the audi o cable to the aud io-speaker connector on the computer, a nd then connect the USB power cable to a USB connector on the computer.
Wall Mounting the Mon itor Panel To mount the monitor p anel to an existing wa ll mounting device or swi ng arm, purchase a n HP mounting acce ssory kit. Mounting devices can be purchas ed separately from HP. Visit www .hp.com/ support for ordering informa tion.
3. Remove three hing e screws, and then separate the h inge from the monitor. Figure 3-12 Removing the Hinge Screws 4. Mount the monitor panel on the wall mounting device o r swing arm by followi ng the instructio ns that come with the mounting kit.
4 Operating the Monitor CD Software and Utilities The CD that is inclu ded with this monitor co ntai ns drivers an d software th at you can install on your computer. Installing Drivers If you determine that you need to upda te the driver s, you can ins tall the mo nitor driver INF and ICM files from the CD, or downlo ad them from the Internet.
NOTE: Ensure that your system meets the requirements. Front-Panel Controls Control buttons (represen ted by icons) are located on the bottom right of the monitor. Button Icon Description Quick View Opens the OSD Quick View menu where you can select a view ing mode which compliments or optimizes the content you are viewing.
Using the On-Screen Disp lay (OSD) Use the On-Screen Display (OSD) to adjus t the screen image based on your viewing p references. To access the OSD, do the following: NOTE: The OSD is only availabl e if there is at le ast one active video input selected for viewing on the monitor.
Icon Main Menu Options Sub-menu Options Description Custom (RGB) Selects and adjusts your own color scales: ● Red Color — Sets your own red color level s. ● Green Color — Sets your own green color levels. ● Blue Color — Sets your own blue color level s.
Icon Main Menu Options Sub-menu Options Description Custom Scaling Selects the method for formatting information displayed on the monitor. Select: ● Fill to Screen — image fills the entire screen and might look distorted or elongated because of non-proportional scaling of height and width.
Icon Main Menu Options Sub-menu Options Description Power-On Recall Restores power to the monitor following an unexpected removal of power. Select: ● On ● Off The factory default is On. Mode Display Displays the resolution, refresh rate, and frequency information on the screen each time the OSD Main Menu is accessed.
Icon Main Menu Options Sub-menu Options Description Sleep Timer Provides the timer-adjustmen t menu options: ● Set Current Time — Sets the current time in hours and minutes. ● Set Sleep Time — Sets the time you want to place the monitor in sleep mode.
Icon Main Menu Options Sub-menu Options Description Auto-Switch Source Turns the automatic video signal input to On or Off on the system. The factory default is On.
Power-Saver Feature When the monitor is in normal operatin g mode, th e Power ligh t is Aqua white and the monitor uses the normal watts of po wer. For power usage, refer to Technical Specifications on p age 29 . The monitor also supports a power-saver mode that is controlled by the computer.
A Troubleshooting Solving Common Problems The following table list s possible problems, the possible cause of each problem, and t he recommended solutions: Problem Soluti on Power button LED is not on. Make sure that the Power button is on, and the power cord is connected to a grounded power outlet and to the monitor.
