1 Introduction The IS220 is a dual optic bench scanning engine with scan lines optimized for ort hogonal orientation of 1D bar codes. I S220 is a completely self - cont ained scan engine.

5 Indicators Audible I ndicators W hen the IS220 is in operation, it provides audible feedback. Thes e sounds indicate the status of t he scan engine. One Beep The scan engine w ill beep once when it first receives pow er, t he red LED will f lash and the scanner w ill beep once.
6 Visua l I ndicators Steady Green W hen the laser is activ e the green LED is illuminated. The gr een LED will rem ain illuminated unt il t he laser is deactiv ated. During the power save m ode, the laser will turn on and turn o ff. During this period, the green LED w ill remain illuminated.
7 Diagnost ic Indi cator Display Th ere is a t wo - dig it error code display located on the center p rinted circuit board (see illustration below). T he following is a list of possible error codes and their meanings. Some errors will require immediate scanner maintenance.
8 31 MOTOR # 1 (left) ERROR – The motor in the le ft scanning subsystem denotes a failure. T he scanner will try three times to cor rect the motor operation. If the motor error pe rs ist s, the left scanning subsystem will be shut dow n and error code 31 will rem ain on the diagnostic indicator display .

11 T roubleshooting Gui de The following guide is for re fer enc e purposes only. Contact a cus tomer service representative to preserve the limited warranty terms . SY MP TO MS POSSI BLE CAUSE(S) SOLUTION No LEDs, No beep or No motor spin . No power is being su pplied to the scanner.
12 SY MP TO MS POSSI BLE CAUSE(S) SOLUTION The unit powers up, but does not scan and/or beep. The unit is scanning a particular symbology that is not enabled. UPC/EAN is enabled by de f ault. Verify that the type of bar code bei ng read has been enabled.
13 SY MP TO MS POSSI BLE CAUSE(S) SOLUTION The unit beeps for some bar codes and NOT for others of the same bar code sym bology. The bar code may have been printed incorrectly. Check if it is a check di git / c haracter/ or border problem. The scanner is not configured correct ly for the type of bar code.

17 Upgrading the Fl ash R O M Firmware Th e IS22 0 is part of Honeywell’s line of scanners with f lash upgradeable f ir mw are. The upgrade process requires, a new firmware file supplied to the customer by a customer service representative and M etroSet2 sof t wa re .
