1 - 2 About the EZMenu T ool EZMenu is an additional P ower T ool that does not appear in the main win do w . EZMenu formats appl ication windows to dis- play and launch software programs on the ter minal. F or fur ther information, see EZMenu beginning on page 1 4-1.
1 - 3 Upgrading the P ower T ools Upgrades f or the P ower T ools on the Dolphin terminal come in the form of an ex ecutable file that installs the upgrade files ont o a workstation (PC). Once th e w orkstatio n installation is complete, transf er the appropriate up g rade files to the Dolphin ter minal to upgrade the P ower T ools.

2 - 1 2 EZConfig Utilities Overview EZConfig Utilities is mad e up of the EZConfig Editor , the EZConfig Client , and a seri es of EXM files . EZConfig Editor is the tool used to open and edit EXM files. EXM files are the building bloc ks f or creating the P ower T ools screens you see on y our termin al.
2 - 2 EZConfig Client Y ou can use the EZConfig Client tool to scan and decode bar codes generated by EZConfig Editor on the wor kstation. F or details on scanning configuration bar codes, see EZConfig Client begi nning on page 5-1.

3 - 1 3 EZConfig Editor on the Dolphin T erminal Overview EZConfig Editor creates, edits, and manages EXM files for Dolphi n ter minals. There are tw o v ersions of the EZConfig Editor : one for the Dolphin terminal and one for the workstation. In the worksta tion editor , EXM files are edited, saved, and then transf erred to the Dolphin ter minal.

3 - 3 Editing Sections and Ke ys Modifying Section Name and Description Y ou can only edit the name and description of a section if it is unlocked or enab led. T o edit a section name or descripti on: 1. Access the Edit Section window by doing one of the followi ng: • Select the section and tap Edit > Modify .
3 - 4 Disabling a Section T o disab le a section and all of its ke ys, select Disab le All from the Edit menu. Disab led sections remain in the file and are indicated with a gra y folder . If you disable a section that has child sections, all of its child sections (and the child sectio n ke ys) are disab led automatically .

4 - 1 4 EZConfig Editor on the W orkstation (PC) Overview EZConfig Editor creates, edits, and manages EXM files for Dolphi n ter minals. There are tw o v ersions of the EZConfig Editor : one for the Dolphin terminal and one for the workstation.

4 - 3 T ools Menu Opening EXM Files EZConfig Editor opens EXM files either stored on the wor kstatio n or on the Dolphin ter minal if an activ e connection has been established between the terminal and worksta tion (e.g., Active Sync, Windows Mobile De vice Center , or Windows Phone app).
4 - 4 W orking with Open EXM Files When you open an EXM file, EZConfig Editor displa ys the content in four diff erent sections of the window . Status Bar The Status Bar appears at the bottom of the window and displays information about selected sections and keys .
4 - 5 Edit Menu Options Select a section and clic k Edit to see th e av ailable o ptions . Moving Sect ions T o mov e sections within an EXM file , use the drag and drop method.
4 - 6 • CTRL to copy a section and drop the copy at the same level in the tree. • CTRL + ALT to copy a section and drop the copy as a child section. Note: You can select onl y one section at a time; you cannot use SHIFT+Click or CTRL+Click to select more than one section.
4 - 7 T o change section-lev el merge modes, select a section and ri ght clic k. The folder colors change immediately after sel ection. W orking with K eys K eys hav e a Name, a Description , and a V alue and reside inside sections. F or specific ke y va lues, consult the chapters of this User’ s Guide that describe the EXM file you are editing.
4 - 8 Modifying Ke y Names T o modify ke y names, double-click on the k ey name or select Rename on the Edit menu. T ype in the new name and press ENTER or T AB. Note: You cannot modify the description if the key is locked, see Key Types (page 4-9 ). Only text that appears in blue can be modified.
4 - 9 T o mov e keys betw e en EXM files , open two instances of EZConfig Editor and drag and drop ke ys between the win- dows. When y ou select the key and drag, a copy of the k ey is dragged to the new file . In the new file, drop the k ey in the ke y area of a selected section; k eys are alw ay s dropped at the same lev el within a section.
4 - 10 Configuration Documents EZConfig Editor cre ates configuration do cuments in the EXM file format to use for progr amming and configur ing termin als .
4 - 11 Associating Applications The Proper ties function associates an EXM file with an app licatio n on the termina l. The associated application launches after EZConfig Client d ecodes the bar code containing the EXM file. While the EXM file is open, click File > Properties or the Document Properties toolbar button .
4 - 12 Creating Registry Documents 1. In EZConfig Editor, click File > New > Registry Document . The new document contains the three top-level secti ons in a registry. T hese sections are locked and cannot be changed. You can add subsections to each sect ion and then add keys to those subsections.
4 - 13 Default Application Associati on f or Registry Documents While a registr y document is open, clic k File > Pr operties. By def ault, registr y documents are associated with EZConfig Client with Execute enabled. Note: Execute must remain selected for th e registry to be updated.
4 - 14 Document T ypes EZConfig Editor produces two kinds of EXM files: Configuration Documents (page 4-10) and Registry Documents (p age 4- 11). Both can be e mbedded in bar codes and proce ssed by EZConfig Client on the ter minal. Note: EXM files are stamped with the time and date t he moment EZConfig Editor creates the bar code.
4 - 15 Bar Codes T ab The Bar Codes tab previe ws and customizes generated bar code(s). Field/Option Description Display Indicates which bar code is displa yed in the pre view area; the def ault is “1, ” the first bar code in the package.
4 - 16 Adv anced T ab The Options tab contains settings that tell EZConfig Cli ent how to process the EXM file on the terminal. Save Sav es the bar code display ed in the previe w ar e a as a graphic file as a .png or .tiff. By default, the name of the graphic file is the same as the name of the open EXM file.
4 - 17 Full screen progress dialog This option runs the d eplo yment progress dialog bo x on the ter minal in full screen mode so that the user cannot open ano ther applicat ion while the bar codes are being deploy ed on the terminal.
4 - 18 Informa tion at the Bottom of T ab Windows Printing and Saving Options On the Bar Codes tab , when y ou click Print , a bar code printing window opens off ering you a number of printing options. Field Description Pa ck ag e Si z e Displays the total size of the bar code packag e.
5 - 1 5 EZConfig Client Overview EZConfig Client decodes bar codes created in EZConfig Editor and deploys the data in the ter minal. In addition, if the EXM file in the bar code i s associated with an application, EZConfig Client launches that application, which then p rocesses the decoded data.
5 - 2 Using EZConfig Client 1. On the Dolphin terminal, tap Start > Power Tools . 2. Tap EZConfig U tilities > EZConfig Client . 3. Point the terminal at the first EZConf ig Editor bar code, then pres s the Scan key. 4. EZConfig Client decodes th e bar code.
6 - 1 6 A utorun and A utoInstall Overview Star tup is the launch sequence when a Dolphin ter min al is boote d. There are two star tup P ower T ools: Autorun and AutoInstall . Au t o ru n Autorun specifies the software applications to launch after each hard reset (cold reboot).
6 - 2 Editing the A u torun.e xm File Edit A utorun.exm in EZConfig Editor. F or details, see Working with Open EXM Files on page 4-4. Adding a Pr ogram Subsection T o launch at star tup , a new program must be a child section of the Programs section.
6 - 3 Multiple options can be specified f or each categor y . For example , you can specify bo th 35KEY and 43KEY options to request that the program run in eith er a 35- or 43-k ey k eyboard ter minal. Separate multiple options with commas. T o ignore a categor y , do not specify any of its options.
6 - 4 A utoInstall A utoInstall consists of an A utoInstall.e xe progr am file and an Au t oI n s ta l l. e xm file located in th e root Honeywe ll f older on the ter minal. The Au toInstall.exe prog ram runs according to the settings in the Aut o I ns t a ll .
7 - 1 7 De viceConfig Overview DeviceConfig configures the Dolphin termi nal. De viceConfi g cons ists of the De viceCon fig.e xe and the De viceCo nfig.e xm file. De viceConfig.ex e looks for and applies the settings in the DeviceConfig.e xm file. DeviceConfig.
7 - 2 ActiveSync Section The ActiveSync Section configures the ter minal’ s ActiveSync connection parameters. Double tap or clic k on any Ke y to get full inf or mation or to edit the settings. Note: The Connection values must be typed exactly as they appear in the Description field, e.
7 - 3 T o create multiple radio configurations, copy the Pr ofile1 section and paste it at th e root lev el of the Suppli- cant section. Then, r ename that profile and configure the keys a ccording the desired networ k configuration. Each child section name is arbitrary , b ut each name must be diff erent.
7 - 4 EAP Method A vailable EAP methods f or IEEE 802.1X and WP A(2)-Enter prise (EAP) association modes. • LEAP • PEAPv0-MSCHAPV2 • PEAPv1-MSCHAPV2 • PEAPv1-GTC • PEAPv1-TLS • FAST-MSCHAP.
7 - 5 GSM Section If there is no GSM radio installed in the ter minal, disable this section. Double tap or clic k on any Ke y to get full inf or mation or to edit the settings. System Section The System section contains child sections that configure vari ous system settings .
7 - 6 Ke yboard The K eyboard section contains th e Default SIP child section, which enables or disab les the enhanced Honeywell vir- tual keyboard as the default vir tual ke yb oard. Note: Not a ll Dolphin models come equippe d with the enhanced Honeywell vi rtual keyboard.
8 - 1 8 Netw ork Utilities Accessing Network Utilities T ap Start > Pow er Too l s > Network Utilities . The Network Utilities window opens. Network Utilities Main Windo w IP Config IPConfig is a kernel utility that displa ys, releases, and renews IP parameters f or on-board ne tw ork adapters.
8 - 2 Displaying the T erminal ’ s IP Configuration On the Input tab , tap the Display full configuration button. The Dolphin terminal retr ie ves and displa ys the IP configura- tion for the entire terminal. The results di spla y on the Output tab .
8 - 3 Reading the Output T ab After you enter the IP inf or mation on the Input tab and click Execute , the Output tab appears and begins displaying the ping results. Y ou can clic k th e Stop button at any time to stop the ping. An y errors encountered display on the screen.
8 - 4 On the Input tab , select PRINT from the drop-d own list and tap Execute . The Output tab appears displaying the network routing ta b le. Add This selection adds a route. 1. On the Input tab, select ADD from the drop-dow n menu. 2. Specify the range of IP addresses to which this rule will apply using the Destination and Netma sk fields.
8 - 5 Bac kup Settings (Radio) The registr y contains configuration settings for the termina l radios. Y ou can use the Backup Settings option on the Networ k Utilities window , to expor t the radio settings into a RadioSettings.reg file. Note: T he RegBackup.

9 - 1 9 Registry P ower T ools Overview The registr y is the configuration database in all 32-bit v ersions of Windows that co ntain s settings f or the hardware and softwa re, consisting of the SYSTEM.D A T and USER.D A T files . Many settings pre v iously stored in the WIN.
9 - 2 5. Drill-down to the ap propriate registry entry. When you click on registry entry in the top half of the screen, the data appear s in the lower half of the screen. The two co lumn s in the bottom half of the window show the Value Name and the Value Data of the selected entry.
9 - 3 Edit Menu The Edit menu allows you to edit existing registr y entries. Impor ting Registry Files The Registr y file must be loaded on the terminal and hav e a *.reg e xtension. 1. Tap the File menu button at the bottom of th e RegEdit window. 2.
9 - 4 Restoring the Registry Once the entire registr y is back ed up to the _RegBackup .re g file using the RegBackup application, you can use an y of the f ollowing methods to restore the registr y: .
9 - 5 Mode and Kernel Chec k In each Subsection root in the tree, there shou ld be two key-v alu e pairs: Mode and K erne lChec k. If these ke ys are not present, the f o llowing def aults will be ap plied: • Mode = Exclude • KernelCheck = Enabl ed Mode The Mode ke y specifies e xpor t behavior of the v alues in the section.
9 - 6 Command Line Arguments Registry Edit Options in EZConfig Y ou can also use EZConfig Editor to create registr y documents on the workstation, cre ate a bar code , then use EZConfig Client to decode the bar code and update the registr y on the terminal.
10 - 1 10 ScanW edg e Overview ScanWedge sends bar code data from the decoder to the f oreground application as ke ystrokes (as if the data were entered via the ke yb oard). The f oreground appl ication is the open software applic ation whose window is currently activ e on the display .

11 - 3 Command Line Arguments The f ollowing command line arguments can be used in the CommandArgs ke y of the EZP airing section of the P owerT o olsMenu.exm file. P asscode Set the passcode f or the remote de vice. ShowStatus Enable or disable status dialogs.
11 - 4 /start Star ts the Bluetooth service. /stop Stops the Bluetooth ser vice. /barcode Generates an EZ P ai ring connection bar code /closebarcode Closes an e xisting bar code.

Enabling the Exit section places the Exit icon on the application window . If you do not want an Exit application icon to show , disable or delete the Exit child section under the MenuEntries section.

15 - 1 15 Printing Overview Dolphin ter minals contain two print utilities, BTPrint and Pr int Demo . BTPrint BTPrint allows you to print to a Bluetooth pri nter wirelessly vi a the command line, provided that the Bluetooth p rinter is set up as a Bluetooth F av or ite on the Dolphin terminal.
