Page 3 READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE OPERATING • Read the instructions carefully. Be familiar with the controls and proper use of the unit. • Do not operate this unit when tired, ill, or under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication. • Inspect the unit before use.

Page 5 RULES FOR SAFE OPERA TION • For best results, your battery unit should be charged in a location where the temperature is more than 50 ° F (10 ° C) but less than 100 ° F (38 ° C). Do not store outside or in vehicles. • Under extreme usage or temperature conditions, battery pack leakage may occur.

Page 8 OPERA TION BA TTER Y P ACK The battery pack for your tool has been shipped in a low charge condition to prevent possible problems. Therefore, you should charge it overnight prior to use. NOTE: Batteries will not reach full charge the first time they are charged.
Page 9 TO INST ALL BA TTER Y P ACK • Place the battery pack in the grass shear. Align raised rib on battery pack with groove in grass shear battery port. See Figure 3 . • Make sure the latches on each side of the battery pack snap in place and that battery pack is secured in the grass shear before beginning operation.
Page 10 OPERA TION OPERA TING TIPS • Before starting your grass shear, hold the unit with the cutting blades directed away from you. Always use your grass shear properly. • Keep from trimming too close to dirt, sand or gravel. This can cause the blades to dull, reducing the cutting efficiency.
Page 11 MAINTENANCE AND REP AIR BLADE SCREWS BLADES Fig. 6 Dull blades cut poorly and put extra strain on the motor. Replace the blades if they become dull from heavy use. A new set of blades at the beginning of each season will speed cutting and extend the life of your grass shear.

Page 13 MAINTENANCE AND REP AIR CLEANING THE GRASS SHEAR • Remove the battery pack. • Clean the unit using a damp cloth with a mild detergent. • Do not use any strong detergents on the plastic housing or rear handle. They can be damaged by certain aromatic oils such as pine and lemon, and by solvents such as kerosene.
Page 14 MAINTENANCE AND REP AIR • Store and charge your batteries in a cool area. Temperatures above or below normal room temperature will shorten battery pack life. • Never store batteries in a discharged condition. Wait for battery pack to cool and charge immediately.
