1 INTRODUCTION Thank you f or purchasing y our new Om niLT automation sy stem. You are a bout to experience a new feeling o f comfort, conven ience, an d control. Please take a few moments to become familiar with all of the feat ures of this fine product by revie wing this m anual.
2 OVERALL DESCRIPTION Console Operation The console is designed with everyt hing that is necessary for y ou to program and operate your OmniLT control and security system. Because we feel that it is very important for y ou to feel comforta ble with the operation of your Om niLT, we recommend that you start by becoming fami liar with your co nsole.
3 6- UP ARROW The Up Arrow ke y is used to scroll th rough menus and lists. Th e Up Arrow is used to scroll back th rough a list (for ex ample, i f you have already used the down arrow to scroll to an item, the Up Arrow will bring you back to a previous item).
4 When using the arr ow keys to scroll thr ough lists of units, zon e s, buttons, codes, and temperatu re zones, only the named ite ms are displayed. If no text description h as been given to an item, it will be skipped ov er when scrolling through that list.
5 Confirmation Beep When you have successfully co mpleted a function, such as entering a program or changing a setup item, the con sole will beep once. Cancel If you are ever uns ure and wish to ret urn to the top-level di splay, press the ' * ' key.
6 SECURITY SYSTEM OPERA TION Disarming the Security System and Silencing Alarms Before going any f urther, you shou ld know how to disar m your security syste m in the event th at the alarm sounds. Turn ing the system OFF disarms the burglar alarm , resets emerge ncy al arms, and silences all sirens and sounders.
7 2 = NIGHT The NIGHT mode is used wh en you are asleep and ever yone in your househo ld is at home. In the Nigh t mode, your door s, windows, and non-sleep ing area (i.e. downstai rs) motion detectors are arm ed. In the Night m ode, there is no entry delay.
8 What Happens When You Arm the Security System To arm the system into one of the 6 secu rity modes, from the s ecurity menu, choose the security mode and press the approp riate key (1 - 6), and then enter your user code number on the con sole keypad or use one of the Shortcu t Keys as described.
9 Bypassing Zones 8 = BYPASS You can Bypass a zone t hat you do not want protect ed while the syst em is armed. Bypassing is al so the only way that a tamper o r panic zone can be disarm ed. For example, if there is a liquor cl oset or gun case on a tam per zone, then you must bypass that z one to gain access to it.
10 What To Do When You Come Home If you enter your home while the system is ar med in the Day, Night Delay, Away, or Vacation mode using an entry door : • The console beeper com es on and beeps 4 times per second.
11 Fire Alarm Activated When the fire alarm is activated by the smoke/ fire detector(s), the al arm responds exactly as described under B urglar Alarm Activated, except: • The console display reads, "FIRE ALARM ! ZONE NAME TRIPPED".
12 Police Emergency When the 1 key and the 3 key is pressed si multaneously , the Po lice Emergency alarm is activated . This alarm operates exactly the same as describe d for Burglar Alarm Activated e xcept: • The console di splay indicates: "BURGLARY! - P OLICE EMERG TRIPPED".
13 Trouble Indications The OmniLT constantly monitors the alarm zon es and several inte rnal matters and will alert you if it detects trouble. The particular tro uble is indicated on t he bottom line of the di splay and a trouble sig nal is given by beepi ng the console beeper continuously , 2 beeps per second.
14 Manager Code The Manager codes can arm /disarm the security system during a ssi gned times. The Manager code can access functi ons that are code protected in High Sec urity m ode. Mana gers may also access the syst em from an out side telephone line.
15 CONTROL The control features of the OmniLT make it easy and convenient to control almost any light or appliance from the console or ove r the telephone.
16 When set to UPB, the OmniLT controller can: ¾ Send comm ands (on, off, bright, dim and level) t o individual switches an d modules ¾ Receive commands and status from individual switches and m odu.
17 When “Status Tracking” is enabled (this is the default setting), OmniLT keeps track of the exact status of each unit even when a lighting scene is initiated b y the Room Controller. Room Contro llers also keep track of when individual switches in a room are turned on and off.
18 When set to RadioR A, th e OmniLT controller can: ¾ Send comma nds (on, off, a nd level) to in dividual Swit ches and Dim mers ¾ Receive status (on an d off) from individual Switches and Dimmers .
19 Scrolling Through Names The OmniLT s tores names for Units, Zones, B uttons, Codes, Tem peratures, and M essages so that y ou don't have t o remem ber that "UNIT 5" is the "DEN LIGHT" and "ZONE 1" is the "FRONT DOOR".
20 Each lighting scene can also be set or easil y changed using t he pushbuttons on t he HAI UPB™ 6-B utton Room Contr oller, as follows: Step Operation 1 Press the desired pushbutton on the HAI UPB™ 6-Button Room Controller to activate the cu rrent scene (preset lighting level) in each of the HLC devi ces.
21 ¾ 5 (RMP) does not affect CentraLite units. ¾ Press 9 (TIM) t o time the selected unit (On or Off). Timed com mands may be from 1-99 seconds, 1-99 m inutes or 1-18 hours.
22 Ramp Command (ALC) When ALC Switch Modules are b eing used, it is po ssible to ramp the lighting level of an ALC Dimmer Switch to a new level at a selectable ramp rate. Only ALC Dimmer Switches respond to the Ramp command. Press the 5 (RAMP) key to select the ramp command.
23 Timed Commands The timed comm ands allow a units t o be turned on or off for a speci fied period of t ime. The unit may be turned On for 1-99 (minutes or seconds), or 1 -18 hours, t hen Off; or t urned Off fo r 1-99 (mi nutes or seconds ) or 1-18 ho urs, then On.
24 Controlling Outputs The OmniLT has 2 (ex pandable to 10) outputs that can be u sed to switch rel ays. Outputs 1 and 2 are c ontrolled by unit numbers 27 and 28. These are har dwired outputs t hat are connected direct ly through the Om niLT and not thro ugh a module.
25 Leviton Scene Control OmniLT supports Leviton Scen e Control (a feature found in certain Leviton Switches. There are 16 Scen es that can be set and executed. The Leviton Switc hes are divided into "lighting groups" of f our units each. Each of thes e lighting groups can be se t to four different Scenes.
26 Scene Off Command Once the Scenes ha ve been sent, pres s the 0 (OFF) key to command the four units in that Scen e to turn off. Notes: 1. When sendi ng Scene Comm ands, the cont roller m ust be configured to all ow Extended Code transm issions.
27 Executing Phantom Buttons OmniLT can turn on and turn off each of the 17 possible Phantom Butt ons. Phantom Buttons must be pre-programmed into the RS-232 interf ace or Chronos.
28 Dinner for Two (Button 3): - dim the di ning and livi ng room lights - turn on th e porch light - turn off all the bedroom lights - dim the den l ight - turn on the stereo To activate a p reprogrammed but ton, from t he top-level di splay or from the main m enu, press the 3 (B TTN) key on t he console keypad.
29 After the ' # ' key is pressed, a menu approp riate for the type of temperature zone is shown. For Celsius tem peratures, press the ' # ' key prior to enterin g the temperature to make the num ber negative. The Cel sius temperature m ay also be specified in 0.
30 For a heat/cool thermostat, the status show s the current temperature, the heating a nd cooling tem perature setpoints , whether ho ld mode is on, t he system mode, and the fa n On/Auto sel ection.
31 To set up your thermostat for use with the energy sav er, set it in the appropriate mode and set the temperature to you r prefere nce. NOTE: Your heating and coo ling system will always be off if you set your thermostat to Off mode. The PESM cannot turn it back on.
32 IMPORTANT NOTES: ¾ There is a 3-m inute minim um on and off tim e for PESMs designe d to prevent sh ort cycling yo ur HVAC compresso r. If the PESM has just turned the HVAC system on or off, it will wait 3 minutes before chang ing it, even though the disp lay does change.
33 Temperature Control of Appliances You can control app liances connected to X-10 an d ALC modules (such as a ceiling fan) using the Button feature of the OmniLT.
34 You may enter a unit nu mber to start displaying th e status of that unit, or simply pr ess the down arrow key to scro ll through t he list of units. The status display is as s hown under Control, except that n ow the arro w keys may be used to continu e scrolling between units.
35 Configuring HLC Devices usin g an OmniTouch T ouchscreen To configure HLC devices from an Om niTouch touc hscreen, press the “C ontrol” icon on t he Home page.
36 3 = SUN (SUNRISE / SUNSET AUTOMATIC CALCULAT ION) The system automatically calculates the tim e of sunrise and sunset each day. From the status menu, press the 3 (SUN) key on th e console keypad to.
37 5 = TEMP (TEMPERATURE) The Temperature Status menu allows you to view and scr oll through the statu s of each Thermostat, PESM, and Temperatu re Sensor.
38 For trouble restorations, the ev ent log will show the zone name or specific troub le condition and "TRBL RST": 11:57 AM 5/8 BATTERY TRBL RST The system records each re mote access. A remote phone access is when som eone calls into the system from an outsi de phone line.
39 Clear Message The 3 (CLEAR) key allows you to clear the selected text message, or all text m essages from the console's display. TRASH NIGHT ENTER MESSAGE 0=ALL ↓ You may enter the message number followed by the ' # ' key to clear that message, or simply press the down arrow key to scro ll through a list of messages.
40 Pro-Link also has the capabil ity to monitor the serial port for incoming text m essages. When a text message is received, Pro-L ink searches through all 16 messages for a m atching message. If on e is found, the Progra m Comma nd (macro) correspondin g to the matching m essage is activated.
41 TELEPHONE CONTROL Telephone Interface Your OmniLT is equipped with a built-in te lephone response feature that allows you to control and access the status of your system from any Touch-Tone phone. The OmniLT actuall y talks to you usin g a digital recordi ng of an actual hum an voice, so the sound i s incredibly life l ike.
42 Phone Access Denied - Remote Lockout The OmniLT has a rem ote lockout feature to discourage youngsters (and a dults who act that way) from trying to access your system. If four invalid codes are entered, the syste m will hang up and a one-hou r lockout p eriod will begin.
43 When you are finished with th e voice menu, press th e 9 (G ood-Bye) key. The OmniLT will say, "GOOD-BYE" and hang up. From an in-house phone, the d ial tone will return. Fro m a re mote phone, you will hear a click as the OmniLT hangs up.
44 Emergency Dial-Out Emergency dia l out consists of two distinct p arts: the "digital dialer" and the "voice di aler". Digital Dialer The digital dialer (also called a "d igital communicator") rep orts al arm events to a centr al station monitoring center.
45 What You Hear - I f Your OmniLT Calls You When you pick up the pho ne and say something, th e OmniLT will say: (One of the followin g, depending on type of alarm) - BURGLAR ALARM - FIRE ALARM - AUX.
46 SETUP The Setup menu i s used to config ure operating param eters, program your system t o do its automated co ntrol and securit y functions, and give descripti ons (names) for all of your zones, units, buttons, codes , temperatures, and m essages.
47 You can specify the access (on/off) tim es for the code, this is, the time pe ri ods during which the code is valid. CODE X ON TIME: 8:00 AM MTWTF-- #=CHNG CODE X OFF TIME 5:00 PM MTWTF-- #=CHNG The times and days are changed by p ressing the ' # ' KEY.
48 Finally, you are prompted to enter the current d ate: ENTER DATE: MMDDYY Enter the cur rent date. If t he current dat e is February 8 , 2006, ente r it as “0 2 0 8 0 6”.
49 Selecting the 1 (C TRL) or 5 (TEMP) key will prom pt you to specify the desired unit or t emperature zone. T hese can be specified by entering the number, followed b y the ' # ' key or by using the arrow keys to scro ll through a list of items.
50 3 = Delete All Programs To delete All automation programs, from the Set Up Program menu, pr ess the 3 (DELETE) key. The d isplay will prompt you to confirm the deletion. DELETE ALL PROGRAMS? 0=NO 1=YES Select 1 (YES) to delete all auto mation control programs in the system.
51 You may al so choose to ha ve the program execute up to 120 minutes be fore or after t he time of s unrise or sunset. SUNSET 1=BEFORE 2=AFTER #=AT If the 1(BEFORE) or 2(AFTER) key is selected, you .
52 Control Unit / Switch Press Event Buttons This Event Button is activ ated upon the following: • When the specified Unit is turned on or off • When the top-rock er or bottom-rocker is pr essed o.
53 After the security mode is selected, an additiona l menu appears wh ich allows you to further specify the button. For example, y ou would like to activate a button when you arm the system into the 3 (AWAY) mode: WHEN AWAY: 1=DELAY 2=CODE Any of these may be selected alone or in combination.
54 If Leviton Sce ne is selected, you m ust first specify the scene num ber: ENTER SCENE: 1-64 Then s elect the s pecif ied comma nd Off , On, or Se t. If UPB Link is selected, y ou must first specify the link number: ENTER LINK: 1-250 Then s elect the s pecif ied comma nd Off , On, or Se t.
55 You are then prompted to ent er the X-10 unit code: X-10 UNIT CODE: 1-16 0=ALL Finally, you are prompted to specify the command that activates the event button: WHEN X-10 A1: 0=OFF 1=ON 2=SCENE After specify ing the X-10 House Code an d X-10 Unit Co de, select 0 for Off, 1 for On, or 2 for Sce ne.
56 Pro-Link determines that a message has bee n received when: • One or more characters have been r eceived followed by 100 ms of silence • One or more characters followed by a carriage return cha.
57 On the 6-But ton Keypad: LED 1 is behi nd the “On” but ton, LED 2 is behind the “Off” button , and LED 3-6 is behind the A-D buttons, respectively.
58 Program All On / All Off Commands Select the 4 (ALL) key t o program All Lights On and All Uni ts Off comma nds. It is also used to pr ogram Leviton Scenes , UPB Link, Radi oRA Phantom Button, or C entraLite Scene.
59 Program Control Conditions Press the 1 (CTRL) key to specify that the pro gram should only ex ecute if a specified control un it is either On or Off. The display prompts for the unit number: UNIT: ENTER UNIT ↓ Enter the unit number followed by the ' # ' key, or use the arrow k eys to select the unit.
60 Program Other Conditions Select the # (OTHER) key to select a condition from a list of other condition s. SELECT CONDITION: NONE ↓ Choose "NONE" when ed iting a program and choose not to con ditionalize the program.
61 Remot e Comma nds The Remote Commands Ok item allows you to pr event any commands from being issued from a remote telephone. If Remote Commands Ok is set to Yes, the OmniLT will allow all commands to be ex ecuted when called from a remote telephone.
62 Dial out number 1 has two times associated with it, an On a nd Off time. The OmniLT will only call this number if the ti me and days are betwe en the Dial Out 1 On and Dial Out 1 Of f times and dates. Press # to chang e the On and Off time s - See Set Up Codes .
63 Exit Delay The Exit Delay is the time, in seconds, that you have to leave your hous e when you turn on the system. When arming the system in Day, Night, Away, or Vaca tion modes, the system will wait this amount of time before arm ing. EXIT DELAY: 60 45-180 SECONDS The default Exit Delay is 60 seconds.
64 Enable Auto Bypass Wit h Auto- Bypass set to “No”, all zones to be armed must be secure when the system is armed. Otherwise, the console will beep three times and display "ZONE NOT RDY". If the system is ar me d and a zone is open when the Exit Delay expires, the alarm will sound.
65 Flash For Alarm You may enter one un it number that will flash On and Off continuously when the alarm is activated. Th is should be an ou tside light to alert neighbors and police to yo ur property if the alarm is activated. The default Flash For Alar m is Unit 2.
66 Notes: 1. When configured, the House Code will affect 2 rooms of HLC lighting (i.e. HC 1 ALL OFF affects Room 1 and 2). 2. When the House Code is c onfigured as UPB, RadioR A, or Cent raLite, “ H.
67 Latitude, Longitude, and Time Z one The system automatically calculate s the ti me of sunrise and sunset eac h day. Sunrise/sunset can be specifie d as the time a scheduling c ommand is exec uted, as an ena b le/disable time, or as a darkness condition on a scheduling comman d or event button.
68 Daylight Savings OmniLT automatically calculates the day of daylight savi ngs time each year. It al so adjusts the "time of day" each time daylig ht savings tim e begins and ends. To enable the sy stem to properl y calculate dayli ght savings tim e, a start month, st art weekend, end m onth, and end wee kend is set-up at the fa ctory.
69 Set Up Names The system can be set up to display descriptive nam es such as "FRONT DOOR", "JOH N'S BEDROOM", or "PORC H LIGHT" for zones, units, buttons, codes, temperatures, and m essages.
70 Set Up Address The final setup item is accomplished over th e telephone. This is the address that th e system says when it dials out in an emergency. Yo ur voice will be recorded on com puter chips in the O mniLT controll er and saved to be pl ayed back in the emergency message when the syst em dials out for an alarm.
71 UNDER WRITER'S LABORA TO RIES REQUIREM ENTS For a complete list of requirements and restri ctions when installing the OmniL T panel in a UL Listed system, refer to the Under writer 's Laboratories Requirements section of the Installation Manual (21I00-1).
