T he A VR 510 has been custom-designed to provide all the excitement and detail of movie soundtracks and every nuance of musical selections .

Connection to a line volt- age other than that for which it is intended can create a safety and fire hazard and may damage the unit.

Before using the remote , it is important to remember to press the Input Selector button e that corresponds to the unit you wish to operate .

System Installation After unpacking the unit, and placing it on a solid surface capable of supporting its weight, you will need to mak e the connections to your audio and video equipment.
16 INST ALLA TION AND CONNECTIONS Installation and Connections Video Equipment Connections Video equipment is connected in the same man- ner as audio components . Again, the use of high- quality interconnect cables is recommended to preserve signal quality .

18 SY STEM CONFIGURA TION System Configuration When all audio , video and system connections have been made , there are a few configuration adjustments that must be made . A few minutes spent to correctly configure and calibrate the unit will greatly add to your listening experience .
19 SY STEM CONFIGURA TION System Configuration 1. Plug the AC P ower Cord ° into an unswitched AC outlet. 2. Press the Main P ower Switch 1 in until it latches and the word “ OFF ” on the top of the switch disappears inside the front panel. Note that the Power Indicator 3 will turn amber , indicating that the unit is in the Standby mode .

21 SY STEM CONFIGURA TION System Configuration Since the factory default for all inputs is Stereo , the phrase SURR OFF will initially appear in highlighted video (Figure 3).
22 SY STEM CONFIGURA TION System Configuration OFF : When OFF is highlighted, the Night mode will not function. MID : When MID is highlighted, a mild com- pression will be applied. MAX : When MAX is highlighted, a more severe compression algorithm will be applied.
23 SY STEM CONFIGURA TION System Configuration If the front left/right speak ers are set to SMALL , the subwoofer will automatically be set to SUB , which is the “ on ” position.
24 SY STEM CONFIGURA TION System Configuration Before beginning the output level adjustment process , mak e certain that all speaker connec- tions have been properly made . The system volume should be set to the level that you will use during a typical listening session.
25 SY STEM CONFIGURA TION System Configuration Continue to adjust the individual channels until the volume level sounds the same from each speak er . Note that adjustments should be made with the ‹ / › buttons o on the remote only , NO T the main volume controls .
26 OPERA TION Operation Basic Operation Once you have completed the initial setup and configuration of the A VR 510, it is simple to operate and enjoy .
27 OPERA TION Operation MODE FEA TURES DELA Y TIME RANGE DOLBY DIGIT AL Available only with digital input sources encoded with Dolby Digital data. It provides Center: 0 ms – 5 ms up to five separate main audio channels and a special dedicated Low-F requency Effects Initial Setting – 0 ms channel.
28 OPERA TION Operation Surround Mode Selection One of the most important features of the A VR 510 is its ability to reproduce a full multichannel surround-sound field from digital sources , analog matrix surround-encoded programs and standard stereo progr ams .
29 OPERA TION Operation source is playing, the A VR 510 will automat- ically detect whether it is a multichannel Dolby Digital, DTS source, MP3 or a conventional PCM signal, which is the standard output from CD players .
30 OPERA TION Operation IMPORT ANT NO TES ON DIGIT AL PLA YBA CK: 1. When the digital playback source is stopped, or in a pause , fast forward or chapter search mode , the digital audio data will momentarily stop , and the channel position letters inside the Speaker/Channel Input Indicators Q will flash.
31 OPERA TION Operation When tuning FM stations in the Auto mode, the tuner will only select stereo stations . To tune to the next station, press the button again. If the STEREO indicator V is not illuminated, tap the T uning Selector button 8 u é to advance one frequency increment at a time , or press and hold it to locate a specific station.
Once the change has been made , press the Set button pÔ and then press the Selector buttons 5 or the ⁄ / ¤ buttons n to select the next output channel location that you wish to adjust.
33 ADV ANCED FEA TURES Advanced Featur es T he A VR 510 is equipped with a number of advanced features that add extr a flexibility to the unit ’ s operation. While it is not necessary to use these features to operate the unit, they provide additional options that you may wish to use .
34 ADV ANCED FEA TURES Advanced Featur es the A VR 510 is turned off . Once the unit is turned off , the semi-OSD displays will remain activated, even if they were switched off for the previous listening session.
35 MUL TIROOM OPERA TION Multiroom Oper ation T he A VR 510 is fully equipped to operate as the control center for a multiroom system with optional remote external infrared (IR) sen- sors , speak ers and power amplifiers.
36 PROGRAMMING THE REMO TE Progr amming the Remote T he A VR 510 is equipped with a powerful remote control that will control not only the receiver ’ s functions, but also most popular brands of audio and video equipment, including CD players , cassette decks , TV sets, cable boxes , VCRs , satellite receivers and other home-theater equipment.
37 PROGRAMMING THE REMO TE Progr amming the Remote Learning Codes In addition to using codes from the remote ’ s internal code library , the A VR 510 ’ s remote is able to “ learn ” codes from remotes that may not be in the code library .
