Final sanding should be done as described in the pre vious sub- section Sanding th e Body . C onsider applying inla ys or additional design w ork on the fretboard and hea d- stock before final sanding.

Before w et sanding, remov e the masking tape from the fretboard and carefully sc rape any e xcess finish off the fretboard with a razor blade or chisel, as shown in Figure 6 .

DO NOT sand through the finish — be es pecially careful on the edges. 7 . Apply more finish, sanding between c oats, until the finish is the desired thic kness.

The closer the strings are to the pickup, the higher the audio output signal will be. If the strings are too close, distortion is caused by magnetic interference from the elec - tronic components.
