It includes details on how to mount the unit in a suitable location, connect it to a phone line and power source; and attach sensor s or instrumentation to it to meet your specific monitoring, alarm, and control needs.
2 Dancer Communications, Inc. Standard Phone Lines For your convenience, the Messenger 570 has a dual phone jack. Pl ug a telephone line into one of the Messenger 570’s phone jacks.
3 www.remotepossibilities.com Enabling the Backup Battery Attach the shorting clip (included with the unit) between the “BATT OUT” and “DC IN” terminals. If the shorting clip is lost, a short length of wire can be used. Once enabled, the battery will require up to 24 hours to fully charge.
4 Dancer Communications, Inc. Input Wiring Inputs should be wired with 14 t o 20 gauge wire. Twiste d pair cabl e is recomm ended for runs in excess of 20 feet. Input devices requi ring 12 VDC can be powered from the Messenger 570’s 12 VDC auxiliary output terminal.

Use the INP S comm and to configure the input for a dry-contact sensor (refer to the Com mand Reference secti on). TTL Logic Flip to OFF the shunt resistor DIP swi tch for the input you want to modify and fl ip to OFF the pull-up resist or DIP switch.
6 Dancer Communications, Inc. Sw itched AC Outlet You can also plug equipm ent (seven amp m aximum load ) into the “Switched AC” power o utlet located on the side of the unit (110 VAC uni ts only). This swit ched outlet works in uni son with the output 1 rela y on the front panel.

It includes details on how to use the RS-232 port for local or satellite communication, a phone line for data, voice, pager and fax communication, and how to put data into the web.

If a set- point has been exceeded for a designa ted period of response time, the Me ssenger 570 system recognizes this as the existence of an alarm condition.
12 Dancer Communications, Inc. Operation Reports The Messenger 570 generates a variety of conci se text reports . Each report is updat ed just prior to generation and i s time-stamped. An auto-report featur e, when enabled, produces an i nput report at the beginning of each communications session without the need to enter a pass code.

14 Dancer Communications, Inc. Alarm Handling The Messenger 570 system constantly m onitors all inputs t o determine if alarm set-points have been viol ated. If a set-point has been violated fo r a specified amount of response tim e, an alarm condition exists.
15 www.remotepossibilities.com When a correct security code has been entered, th e Messenger 570 System will acknowledge it, saying, “Yes.” You can now enter INP R to learn the cause of th e input alarm condition and en ter ALM# to acknowledge receipt of the alarm message.
16 Dancer Communications, Inc. Control The Messenger 570 includes a straightforw ard output controller that enables you to activate or reset equipment remotely on dem and or automatically in response to input set-points or alarm conditions.
17 www.remotepossibilities.com Automatic There are three automatic modes of operation, differin g only with respect to the time-of-day in which the automatic control is active. Automatic The output will automatically turn ON or OFF as determined by the Output OFF and Output ON set-points on its corresponding input.

19 www.remotepossibilities.com Log Operations (LOG O) Whenever a system or log event o ccurs, the Messenger 570 system will write to m emory a time-stam ped record of parameters. Syst em events such as system resets, alarm detection, alarm acknowledgments, alarm dial outs, etc.
20 Dancer Communications, Inc. X-modem Downloads The most reliabl e way to transfer large amount s of data from the Me ssenger 570 system to a personal com puter is with the XMODEM fi le transfer protocol. Ma ny comm unications program s (such as ProComm ) support the XMODEM protocol.
21 www.remotepossibilities.com V oice Recorder The Messenger 570’s voice enunciator uses a combined lexicon of high-quality pre-recorded phrases and phrases that you record. The recording process utilizes the multimedia capabilities of y our com puter – phrases are recorded on your PC, then uploaded to the Messenger 570.
