5 I NTRODUCTION Y our Caller ID phone stores and displays specific information, provided by your local telephone compan y , to subscriber s of Caller ID or similar caller identification services. C ALLER ID This feature allows you to see the number or name and number of the person calling before you answer the phone.

12 S ETTINGS F our basic user -programmable features are set and stored in the phone system's P rog menu by pressing the PROG and REVIEW but tons and viewing the display . Of these set tings, language and local area code can also be set on the cordless handset.
13 S ETTING THE D ISPLA Y L ANGUAGE 1 . P ress and release PROG until SET LANGUAGE shows on the display . 2. Press REVIEW repeatedly until desired language is displayed. 3. 14 S ETTING THE L OCAL A REA C ODE 1 . P ress and release PROG until SET AREA CODE shows on the display . 2. Press a numeric key to enter the fir st digit of your local area code. 3. Press a numeric key to enter the second digit of your local area code.
15 S ETTING THE C URRENT T IME NOTES: This setting is for the base only . Time is transmitted automatically by your local phone company as part of Caller ID service. If you have subscribed to Caller ID, the current time will be set automatically when your first CID call is received.
16 V OLUME C ONTROL B ASE Base unit handset receiver volumes are adjustable for four levels by repeatedly pressing the HANDSET V OLUME but ton on the base unit. C ORDLESS H ANDSET Cordless handset recei ver volume is adjusted by pressing the V OLUME/CID REVIEW but tons on the cordless handset.
17 C ORDLESS P HONE B ASICS I N U SE I NDICA TOR Y ou know the phone is on when you see the IN USE indicator on the base come on. R EDIAL 1 . Make sure the phone is ON . 2. Press the REDIAL/P A USE but ton to redial the last number you called (up to 32 digits).
18 T ELEPHONE O PERA TION R ECEIVING A C ALL Chec k the display to see who is calling. Using the Cordless Handset — To answer a call you must press the T ALK button on the handset. The IN USE indicator on the base comes on whenever the cordless handset is on.
19 M ANUAL C HANNEL S ELECTION While talking, you might need to manually c hange the c hannel in order to reduce static caused by baby monitor s, g arage door opener s, or other cordless phones. Press and release the CHANNEL but ton to advance to the next clear c hannel.
20 R INGER V OLUME S WITCH Cordless Handset — A two-position switc h permits the cordless handset ringer to be turned of f or on. Base Unit — A three-position switc h permits the base unit ringer volume to be set to HI, L O , or OFF . The appropriate ringer switc h must be on for the cordless handset or base unit to ring during incoming calls.
21 L AST N UMBER R EDIAL T o redial the last number you dialed: B ASE U NIT 1 . Pic k up base handset or press SPEAKER but ton. 2. Press the REDIAL but ton. If you get a busy signal, and w ant to keep dialing the number , hang up the base unit. Then, repeat steps 1 and 2.
22 FLASH button H OLD Press the HOLD but ton to put a call on hold. The HOLD indicator will blink at half-second intervals. T o take a call of f hold, press the HOLD but ton again and the HOLD indicator will turn of f . • T o switc h a call on hold from the base to the cordless handset, press T ALK on the handset.
23 F INDING THE H ANDSET This feature helps to locate a misplaced handset. Press and release the P AGE but ton on the base. The display shows P A GING . The handset beeps continuously and displays P AGE YOU for about 2 minutes or until you press IN T or T ALK on the handset or P AGE on the base.
24 P RIV ACY M ODE Privacy mode allows an initial user (at an y handset) to prevent anyone from inter rupting the conversation by pic king up the other handset.
25 D ISABLING P RIV ACY M ODE • Hang up the phone. P ri vacy Mode is automatically canceled. • During a call, press and hold the FORMA T but ton for more than 2 seconds until you hear a tone. Then press “ * ” . A confirmation tone comes from the handset, and PRIV A CY DIS ABLE appear s on the display .

On the cordless handset, press and hold the 2 and 8 keys simultaneously for at least 2 seconds. SET SECURITY is displayed. 3. On the base unit, press and hold the MUTE and HOLD but tons simultaneously for at least 2 seconds.

31 R ECEIVING A C ALL WITH S PEAKERPHONE 1 . When the phone rings, press and release the SPEAKER but ton on the base unit and talk normally into the built-in microphone at a minimum distance of 5-6 inc hes. 2. Adjust speak erphone volume by sliding the V OLUME control on the right side of the base unit.
32 3. When the party answers, adjust speak erphone v olume by sliding the V OLUME control on the right side of the base unit. 4. T o end the call, press the SPEAKER but ton ag ain. S WITCHING BETWEEN S PEAKER AND H ANDSET Y ou can switc h between speak erphone and either handset af ter dialing a number , or an y time during a con ver sation.

39 S ETTING U P A T HREE -W AY C ONVERSA TION U SING I NTERCOM Make sure your unit is NO T in Privacy Mode. T o Disable Privacy Mode - While in T ALK mode, press and hold the FORMA T but ton for more than 2 seconds until you hear a tone. Then press “ * ” .
40 2. If the originating unit is the cordless handset: press the SPEAKER but ton or lif t the corded handset. Three-way con ver sation begins. 3. If the originating unit is the base unit: Three-w ay conversation automatically begins when T ALK is pressed on the cordless handset.
41 M EMORY The cordless handset and base eac h have their own separate memory dialing storage areas. T en 1 6- c haracter names and 24-digit telephone numbers can be stored in the cordless handset memory . T en 16-c haracter names and 24-digit telephone numbers can be stored in the base memory .

43 4. Use the k eypad to store a name (up to 1 6 c haracter s.) More than one let ter is stored in eac h of the number keys. For example, to enter J oe Smith, press 5 for J; press 6 three times for O .
44 If you ’ re using two let ters consecutively that are stored in the same number k ey , you must press FORMA T between the let ter s. For example, if you enter Barb, press 2 two times for B; press FORMA T ; press 2 for A; 7 three times for R; and 2 two times for B.
45 I NSERTING A P AUSE IN THE D IALING S EQUENCE Press the P AUSE but ton to inser t a delay in the dialing sequence of a stored telephone number when a pause is needed to wait for a dial tone (for example, af ter you dial 9 for an outside line, or w ait for a computer access tone.
46 T o Change: Use the same procedure to c hange a stored number as you do to store a number — you ’ re just replacing one stored phone number with a dif ferent one. T o Delete: Press MEM or MEMOR Y , then press the CID REVIEW but tons or REVIEW to scroll to a desired entry .

59 C HANGING THE B A TTERY Make sure the telephone is OFF before you replace bat tery . 1 . R emove the bat tery compar tment door . 2. Disconnect the bat tery plug and remove the bat tery pac k from the handset. 3. Insert the new bat tery pac k and reconnect the bat tery plug.
