i SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS WARNING Turn off the power at the switchboard before beginning the installation. Fire or electrical shock can result if the power is left on. Do not install the equipment where it may get wet from rain or water splash. Water in the equipment can result in fire, electrical shock or damage to the equipment.
ii The transducer cable must be handled carefully, following the guidelines below. • Keep fuels and oils away from the cable. • Locate the cable where it will not be damaged. • The cable sheath is made of chloro- phrene or polychloride vinyl, which is easily damaged by plastic solvents such as toulene.

1 1. MOUNTING 1.1 Net w ork S ounder 1.1.1 Mounti ng considerations The net work sounder c an be installe d on the deck or on the bulkhead. W hen selecting a mount ing locat ion, keep the following points in m ind: • The tem perature and humidity of the m ounting location should be m oderate and stable.

3 2. WIRING , SETUP 2.1 Wiring 2.1.1 S tandard inst allation Connect NavNet series displa y un it or HUB, transducer , power cable and ground wire as below .
4 T ransducer Route the transducer ca ble well away from po wer cables, tele v isio ns and CR T s to prevent interference t o the network sounder . Attach the NCS connector t o t he t ransducer cable as below and connect it to the appropriate T RANSDUCER connector on the f r ont o f t he network sounder .

Press the [CLEAR] key to start norm al operation to set up the transducer . F or f urther details about the sim ulation mode, see your NavNet series operator ’s manual.
9 2.2.3 T ransducer setup Enter transducer setting correctly. A wrong transducer setting can damage the transducer. CAUTION T ran sd ucer connected to the ET R-30 N i s p rogrammed in the ETR-30N 1. At the installat ion m enu, press the NETWORK SOUNDER SETUP soft key .
10 SNDR SETUP EDIT RETURN TRANSDUCER SETUP MANUAL HIGH FREQUENCY --kHz (0kW T AP:-) LOW FREQUENCY --kHz (0kW T AP:-) TAP SETTINGS MUST BE MADE ON ETR UNIT. AFTER SETUP, DISPLAY MUST BE TURNED OFF & ON TO ALLOW NEW SETTINGS TO TAKE EFFECT. Frequency setup scree n 3.
11 T ran sd ucer connected to the ET R-30 N i s n ot p ro grammed in the ETR-30N For the transducer not programmed in the ETR-30N, enter its f r equency m anually as below . Do not enter transducer specifications manually if the transducer is programmed in the equipment.
12 2.3 Settings f or T w o Netw ork Sounders 2.3.1 T wo ETR-30N netw ork sounders W hen installing two ETR-30N set the HOST NAM E cont rol t o “0” for the No. 1 ETR-30N and “1” for the No. 2 ETR-30 N. T urn the ETR-30N off and on again after sett ing t he HOST NAME control to register sett ings.
13 Note: The sam e IP address cannot be used when installing tw o ETR-30N or ET R-6/10N. T o change IP address and host nam e, set a diff erent number (1-9) f or each netw ork sounder with the HOST NAME sw it ch on t he ETR-30N. Note howev er t hat the ETR-6/10N’s host nam e and I P address are “SOUNDER” and “172.
14 2.3.2 ETR-30N and ETR-6/10N W hen installing an ETR-30N and an ET R-6/10N, the ETR-6/10N’s host nam e of SOUNDER cannot be changed. For t his reason, t he set the HOST NAME control of the ETR-30N to “1” and its host nam e to “SOUNDER1.” Turn the ETR-30N off and on again af ter setting the HOST NAME control to register set tings.
15 2.4 Erasing T ransdu cer Sett ing W h en changing tr ansdu cer(s), erase previous transducer setting(s) as sho wn belo w an d then enter new transdu cer settings as in paragraph 2.2. (The set cannot tr ansm it unless transducer settings are ent ered.

19 3.4 A ll Clear W h en t he sounder pict ure appears t o be abnorm al, execute t he “all cle ar” function from the ETR-30N to try to rest ore norm al operation. All clear erases all t ransducer settings, so reenter them ref erring to paragraph 2.
