13 Getting to Know Y our LifeBook BATTERY CHARGING INDICATORS Located to the left of each Battery Level indicator is a small arrow symbol. This sy mbol indicates whether a specific battery is charging . This indicator will flash if the battery is too hot or cold to charge.

15 Getting to Know Y our LifeBook FUNCTION KEYS Y our LifeBook notebook has 12 function keys, F1 through F12. The functions assigned t o these keys differ for each application. Y ou should refer to your softwar e documentation to find out ho w these keys are used.

17 Getting to Know Y our LifeBook DOUBLE-CLICKING Double-clicking means pushing and r eleasing the left button twice i n rapid succession. This procedure d o es not function with the ri ght button. T o double-click, move the cursor to the item y o u wish to select, press the left button twice, and then immediately r elease it.

In the event y ou need to re-install W indows XP (e.g., after making significant co nf iguration changes), it may be necessary to reactivate the operating system.
32 LifeBook S7100 Notebook Power Management Y our Fujitsu LifeBook not e book has man y options and features for c onserv ing battery power . Some of these features ar e automatic and need no user intervention, such as those for the internal modem.
33 Getting Started HIBERNATION (SAVE-TO -DISK) FEATURE The Hibe rnation feature sa ves the co ntents of y our L i f e B o o k n o t e b o o k ’s s y s t e m m e m o r y t o t h e h a r d d r i v e a s a part of the Suspend/R esume mode. Y ou can enable or disable this feature.

40 LifeBook S7100 Notebook Lithium ion Battery Y our LifeBook notebook has a Lithium i on battery that pro vides power for operating your notebook when no external powe r source is available. The batte ry is dur able and long lasting , but should not be exp osed to extreme temperatures, high voltages, chem icals or other hazards.
41 User Installable Features Dead Battery Suspend mode shows on the Status indi- cator just lik e the normal Standby mode. Once yo ur notebook goes into Dead Battery Suspend mode you will be unable to resume operation until y ou provide a source of pow er either from an adapter , or a charged battery .

61 T roubleshooting A card inserted in the PC Card slot does not w or k or is locking up the syst em. (con tinued) The card ma y have been inserted while an application was running, so your notebook is not awar e of its insertion. Close the application and restart your notebook.
