This may result in poor performance, or the m odem may not work at all. Check whet her you need a country-speci fi c telephone adapter (available as an optional accessory).
Working with the noteboo k SIM card A SIM Card (Subscriber Identity Module) is a chip card wh ich is inserted in a m obile telephone or notebook to enable access to a mobile radio netwo rk in conjunction with an installed UMTS module. Follow the instructions supplied by the provider of the SIM ca rd.

Working with t he notebook Y our Port Replicator (optional) Y our Port Replicato r is a device that enables you to quickly connect your notebook to your peripherals, such as a mon itor , printer etc. The fea tures offered by the Port Replicator include stand ard ports for monitor , audio, mouse and keyboard.
Working with the noteboo k The mains adapter must b e connected to the Port Replicator when the notebook is connected to the Port Replicator . We recommend that the notebook is not operated with the LCD monitor closed when the notebook is connected to the Port Rep licator.

Security fun ctions T rusted Platform Module (TPM) (device-dependent) TPM T rustedPlatform Module T o use the TPM, you must activate the TPM in the BIOS Setup before the software is installed. The condition for this is that you have assigned at least the supervisor password (see " Securit y func t ions", Page 53 ).

Screen output is limited to a maximum of two monitors at any one time (see " Key co mbinatio ns", P age 25 , section "T oggle output screen").

If you w ish to operate devices via a parallel port, then use the Port Re plicator which is available as an option for your notebook.
Connecting external d evices Connecting USB devices USBports On the USB ports, you can connect e xternal devices that also have a USB port (e.g. a DVD drive, a printer , a scanner or a modem). USB d evices are hot-pluggable. Th is means you can connect and disconnect devices while your operating system is running.
Connecting external devices USB port with charging function (Anytime U SB charge) USBchargingfunction It is recomme nded that the notebook be operated with the power supply c onn ecte d whenever the USB port with charging function is in use, as this function will drain the battery more quickly if an external U SB device is being charged.
