2 LifeBook B Series Notebook BIOS B Series BIOS BIOS SETUP UTILITY The BIOS Setup Utility is a program that sets up the operating environment for y our notebook. Y our BIOS is set at the factor y for no rmal operating conditions, therefor e there is normally no need to set or change the BIOS enviro nment to operate y our notebook.

4 LifeBook B Series Notebook BIOS MAIN MENU – SETTING ST AN DARD SYSTEM P ARAMETERS The Main M enu allows yo u to set or view the current system parameters.
5 System Date: –— –— Sets and displays t he current date. Date is in a month/ day/year numeric format with 2 digits each for month and day and 4 digits fo r year . (MM/DD/YYY Y) for example: 03/20/1998. Y ou may change eac h segment of the date separately .

Note: A ctual hard drive label shown may vary . Depending on the drive type, informat ion such as cylinders, heads and sectors may or may not be displayed.
7 Exiting fr om Main M enu W hen you ha ve finished setting the parameters on this menu, you can either exit from the setup utility , or mov e to another menu. If y ou wish to exit from the setup utility , pr ess the [ Esc ] key , use the cursor keys to go to the Exit menu, or press [F10] to exit and sav e.
8 LifeBook B Series Notebook BIOS ADVANCED MENU – SETTING DEVICE FEATURE CONTROLS The Ad vanced M enu allo ws y ou to: • Set the I/O addresses for the ser ial and parallel por ts. • Set the communication mode for the parallel p ort and infrared port.
9 Internal Device Configurations When selected, opens the Internal Device Configurations submenu, which allows enabling or disabling th e IDE and LAN Controllers. CPU Features When selected, opens the CPU Featur es submenu, which allows setting of Intel Speed- Step features.

The following table shows the names of the men u fields for the Info menu and the info rmation display ed in those fields.
27 EXIT MENU – LEA VIN G THE SETUP UTILITY The Exit M enu is used to lea ve the setup utility . Follow the instructions for N a vigating through the Setup Utility to make any changes.
28 LifeBook B Series Notebook BIOS Discard Changes –— Selecti ng Discard Changes loads the prev i ous values in BIOS memory for all menu fields. The message Load previous now? [Yes] [No] will be displayed. When confirmed the setup ut ility will re turn to the Ex it menu.
