Thank you for choosing the Fisher-Price ® Grow-with-Me TM Car Seat. This car seat can be used in two different modes: 5-Point Harness for a child 20 - 40 lbs.; or Booster Car Seat (without harness) for a child 30 - 80 lbs. If your child is at least one year of age and 20-40 lbs.

W ARNING Proper installation and use depends on you! If you do not follow the instructions in this manual and the labels on the car seat, paying par ticular attention to the warning statements, your child c o u l d b e at risk of striking the vehicle’ s interior during a sudden stop or crash, resulting in serious injur y or death.
NEVER leave an unsecured car seat in your vehicle. If left unsecured, even when not occupied, the car seat could injure other occupants in a sudden stop or crash. NEVER dress your child in clothing that interferes with positioning the crotch strap between your child’ s legs.
IMPOR T ANT! • Please read the entire side of this manual carefully before using the car seat in 5-Point Harness Mode. Keep this manual under the clip on the back of the car seat for easy reference.
IMPOR T ANT! • If your child weighs between 20 and 40 lbs., but cannot sit upright unassisted, please contact your physician to determine how best to use a car seat. • This car seat includes a locking clip (stored on the headrest) for use with a particular vehicle belt system.
All About 5-Point Harness Mode (20-40 lbs.) The safety features of this Fisher-Price ® car seat will reduce the risk of injury to your child in a crash; however , no car seat can prevent serious injury or death in all crashes. 5-POINT HARNESS 5-Point Harness Mode 8 20 - 40 lbs.
T ether Strap: An additional belt anchoring car seat directly to your vehicle’ s frame, reducing for ward motion in an accident and significantly reducing the potential for injur y . “Wing” Cushion: Provides extra support for your child. Chest Clip: Keeps harness shoulder belts in place to properly secure your child.
What Kind of V ehicle Belt System Do Y ou Have? W ARNING AL W A YS secure this car seat with your vehicle belt system exactly as described in this manual. Refer also to your vehicle owner’ s manual for specific information on your vehicle belt system and specific instructions on how to install a car seat in your vehicle.
What Kind of V ehicle Belt System Do Y ou Have? There are many different types of vehicle belt systems. Some vehicle belt systems can never be used with this car seat in 5-Point Harness Mode. Read your vehicle’ s owner’ s manual and check to deter mine which type of vehicle belt system or systems you have in your vehicle.
Explanation – This lap and shoulder belt system is attached to the vehicle’ s door and moves when the door is opened. This system will not keep the car seat secure. NEVER USE NEVER USE These V ehicle Belt Systems D oor Mounted Lap and Shoulder Belt Explanation – The lap belts with these systems cannot be ti ghtened for a firm fit.
OK to USE These V ehicle Belt Systems OK ✔ Manual Lap Belt Explanation The lap belt is tight- ened by pulling the free end. Automatic Locking Retractor Lap Belt Explanation The lap belt slack retracts automatical- ly and locks. It can be further tightened by push- ing the belt in near the retractor .
Selecting a V ehicle Seating Location for Y our Car Seat Accident statistics show that children are safer when restrained properly in rear vehicle seating locations than in front seating locations. Only use the front seat when no acceptable rear seating location is avail- able.
Selecting a V ehicle Seating Location for Y our Car Seat The rear seating locations are AL W A YS preferred. AL W A YS use vehicle seats that face the front of the vehicle. Front of V ehicle NEVER use vehicle seats that face the side of the vehicle. NEVER use vehicle seats that face the rear of the vehicle .
A tether strap is required only when using the car seat in 5-Point Harness Mode. Use of the tether strap is an effective way to reduce a child’ s for ward motion in the event of a crash. And, reducing for ward motion improves your child’ s safety! T o use the tether strap, you must have a tether anchor in your vehicle.

T ether Anchor Installation Insert the bolt through the anchor and into the hole in your vehicle. From inside your trunk or the outside or underside of your vehicle, attach the washer and lock nut to the end of the bolt. While holding the bolt tight with a wrench, tighten the lock nut securely with another wrench.
Assembly Push the rod clip down to unlock the rod on the back of the shell. Slide only the har ness shoulder straps off of the rod. DO NOT remove the tether strap from the rod.
Assembly Push the rod clip up to lock the rod in place. Make sure the tether strap is still looped onto the rod. 3 4 4 3 5-Point Harness Mode 20 20 - 40 lbs. Note: When properly installed, the tether strap is through the slot behind the headrest; comes out through the slot in the groove of the shell; and is looped onto the rod.
Assembly Squeeze the headrest release button and slide the headrest all the way up to the highest position. 5 5 5-Point Harness Mode 21 20 - 40 lbs..
Assembly From the front of the car seat, press both release tabs on the “wing” support to remove it. 6 6 5-Point Harness Mode 22 20 - 40 lbs..
Assembly Position the seat pad onto the shell so that the headrest is through the opening in the seat pad. 7 7 5-Point Harness Mode 23 20 - 40 lbs..
Lift the bottom of the seat pad and unbuckle the chest clip and harness. Then, insert the seat pad’ s elastic loops through the slots in the shell. Assembly 8 9 8 9 5-Point Harness Mode 24 20 - 40 lbs.
Assembly Carefully fit the harness shoulder/ lap straps through the slots in the seat pad. Make sure the straps are not twisted. 10 10 5-Point Harness Mode 25 20 - 40 lbs.
Assembly T ip the shell backwards. Attach pad’ s elastic loops (that were inserted through the bottom of the shell) to the clip on each side of the seat pad.
Assembly Reach under the seat pad and fit the crotch strap buckle up through the slot in the seat pad. Insert the shoulder/lap strap latch plates into the crotch strap buckle. Make sure you hear a “click” for each latch plate. 12 13 12 13 5-Point Harness Mode 27 20 - 40 lbs.
Assembly Fit the “wing” pads onto each end of the “wing” support. Fit the elastic strap on the each “wing” pad into the groove on each side of the “wing” support.
Assembly Insert and “snap” the tabs on the “wing” cushion up into the slots in the bottom of the headrest. 16 16 5-Point Harness Mode 29 20 - 40 lbs.
Assembly Fit the headrest pad onto the headrest. Insert the headrest pad’ s elastic loops through the holes in the headrest. 17 18 17 18 5-Point Harness Mode 30 20 - 40 lbs.
Assembly Attach the headrest pad’ s elastic loops (that were inserted through the headrest) to the clip on each side of the headrest pad. Make sure the harness shoulder/lap strap is through the clip on the back of the car seat and is NOT twisted. 19 19 5-Point Harness Mode 31 20 - 40 lbs.
Assembly Squeeze the headrest release button and slide the headrest down so that the screws with washers line up with the rod. Push the rod clip down to unlock the rod on the back of the shell. Let the rod hang from the shell, without allowing the tether strap from sliding off of it.
Assembly From the front of the car seat, fasten the chest clip. Insert the shoulder straps through the slots in the seat pad and shell. Make sure the shoulder straps are not twisted.
Assembly Fit the harness shoulder straps on the rod. DO NOT remove the tether strap from the rod. Fit the rod with shoulder straps and tether strap into the groove in the shell. Push the rod clip up to lock the rod in place. 25 26 25 26 5-Point Harness Mode 34 20 - 40 lbs.

Installing Y our Car Seat in a V ehicle Once you have selected an accept- able seating location (see pages 14-15), place the car seat on the vehicle seat firmly against the vehicle seat back. Fit the vehicle belt through the slot on the side of the car seat shell.

Installing Y our Car Seat in a V ehicle For a manual lap belt system: With the vehicle belt buckled, push down on the car seat with your knee and pull the free end of the vehicle belt for the tightest possible fit. 6 A 6A 5-Point Harness Mode 39 20 - 40 lbs.
Installing Y our Car Seat in a V ehicle For a lap and shoulder belt system: With the vehicle belt buckled, push down on the car seat with your knee and pull the shoulder belt for the tightest possible fit. 6 B 6B Some vehicle belt systems have labels with instructions for use with car seats.
Installing Y our Car Seat in a V ehicle Check to see if the lap portion of the vehicle lap and shoulder belt system loosens. Move the car seat from side to side. If you can loosen the lap por- tion of the lap and shoulder vehicle belt system, the lap portion probably does not have a locking mode and you will need a locking clip.
Installing Y our Car Seat in a V ehicle After properly tightening the vehicle belt system, you may notice that your car seat has pushed down and for ward on the vehicle seat. This is normal, and as long as the lap portion of the lap and shoulder belt system does not loosen, you can proceed to step 12, page 45.
Installing Y our Car Seat in a V ehicle T o install the locking clip: Re-tighten the vehicle lap and shoul- der belt system (see page 40). Hold the lap and shoulder belts together just behind the tongue and unbuckle the vehicle belt. Continue to hold the lap and shoulder belts together .
Installing Y our Car Seat in a V ehicle While holding the belts together , tuck the edges of the vehicle belts under the arms of the locking clip. Make sure the locking clip is posi- tioned approximately 1 / 2 " from the sliding tongue. While pushing down on the car seat with your knee, buckle the vehicle belt system.
Installing Y our Car Seat in a V ehicle Attach the tether strap hook to the tether anchor . Pull the free end of the tether strap to tighten. Fold or roll the excess tether strap and tuck it between the car seat and the vehicle seat. Note: T o remove the tether strap from the tether anchor , lift the tab on the adjuster to loosen the tether strap.
Installing Y our Car Seat in a V ehicle T est your installation of the car seat again, this time by rocking the car seat for ward and back- ward. Y ou should NOT be able to pull the back of the car seat away from the vehicle seat more than one inch. Note: Regularly check to be sure your car seat installation is secure.
After installing the car seat in your vehicle, unfasten the chest clip. Press the button on the crotch strap and remove the shoulder straps. 1 Securing Y our Child 2 The metal and plastic parts of the car seat may become very hot when exposed to the sun.
Place your child in the car seat. Make sure your child’ s lower back is against the car seat. This will allow you to position the car seat restraint around your child properly . Position the shoulder straps over your child’ s shoulders. Make sure the shoulder straps are not twisted.
Securing Y our Child W ARNING NEVER dress your child in clothing that interferes with position- ing the crotch strap between your child’ s legs. If the crotch strap is not positioned between your child’ s legs, your child could eject from the car seat in a crash.
Securing Y our Child Adjust the height of the headrest and shoulder straps to your child: Squeeze the headrest release button and lift or lower the headrest. This will also raise or lower the shoulder straps. Align the shoulder strap slots at or just above the top of your child’ s shoulders.
Securing Y our Child T o tighten the shoulder straps: Pull the attached shoulder strap up to remove slack. Then, pull the free end of the shoulder strap down to tighten. If necessar y , repeat this procedure to comfort- ably tighten the shoulder straps.
Fasten the chest clip. Slide the chest clip up so that it is level with your child’ s underarm area; or up against the adjuster . 8 Securing Y our Child 8 5-Point Harness Mode 52 20 - 40 lbs.
Check to be sure the shoulder straps are snug against your child. Pull the shoulder straps away from your child’ s chest. They should not move more than one inch (two fingers) from your child’ s chest. If the shoul- der straps are too loose, tighten them (refer to page 51, step 7).
Removing Y our Child Unfasten the chest clip. Press the button on the crotch strap buckle and remove the shoulder straps from the buckle. Remove your child from the car seat. Note: Insert the shoulder strap latch plates into the crotch strap buckle. 1 2 1 2 5-Point Harness Mode 54 20 - 40 lbs.
Aircraft Use Y ou can install this car seat in aircraft seats that face for ward. Before bringing the car seat on board: • Notify the airline of your intent to bring this car seat. The airline may have restrictions regarding its use. • The width of the car seat is 17".
• Machine wash the seat pad, and headrest pad and “wing” suppor t pads in cold water and mild detergent. Do not use bleach. T umble dr y on low heat. • T o clean the 5-point harness, shell and “wing” suppor t, use a mild cleaning agent and damp cloth.
Registering Y our Car Seat Child restraints could be recalled for safety reasons. Y ou must register this restraint to be reached in a recall. Send your name, address, the restraint’ s model number and manufacturing date (located on the back side of the seat) to: Fisher-Price, Inc.

NEVER put anything on your vehicle seat (such as a cushion) to raise the car seat. This will create too much slack in the vehicle belt system. In a sudden stop or crash, a loose vehicle belt system will not be able to properly restrain your child. NEVER use the car seat after it is involved in a crash.
IMPOR T ANT! • USE ONL Y a vehicle lap and shoulder belt system to restrain your child in this car seat when used in Booster Car Seat Mode. • The Grow-With-Me TM Car Seat in Booster Car Seat Mode is intended for use by children who weigh between 30 and 80 lbs.
IMPOR T ANT! • This restraint, when used in Booster Car Seat Mode, is not cer tified for aircraft use. A booster car seat requires the use of a lap and shoulder belt system to restrain your child. Aircraft are not equipped with lap and shoulder belt systems.

Assembly If you have purchased this car seat and will be using it immediately in Booster Car Seat Mode, you will need to: assemble the pads to the head- rest and seat; remove the 5-point harness; remove the rod; and remove the “wing” cushion.

Press the rod clip down. Slide the harness shoulder straps and tether straps off of the rod. Pull the tether strap to remove it from the shell. Remove the rod from the shell. Lift the headrest pad and press the wing cushion tabs. Remove the “wing” cushion.
What Kind of V ehicle Belt System Do Y ou Have? There are many different types of vehicle belt systems. Some vehicle belt systems can never be used with this car seat in the Booster Car Seat Mode. Read your vehicle’ s owner’ s manual and check to determine which type of vehicle belt systems you have in your vehicle.

If you do not have a seat- ing l ocat ion with a usable lap and shoulder vehicle belt system, DO NOT use this car seat.
Explanation – There is no shoulder belt. A lap and shoulder belt system is required to restrain your child in the Booster Car Seat Mode. Restraining Y our Child Once you have selected an accept- able seating location, adjust the vehi- cle seat back to the upright position. Place the car seat on the vehicle seat, firmly against the vehicle seat back. Place your child on the car seat, with his lower back against the car seat back.
Restraining Y our Child W ARNING NEVER put anything on your vehicle seat (such as a cushion) to raise the car seat. This will create too much slack in the vehicle belt system. In a sudden stop or crash, a loose vehicle belt system will not be able to properly restrain your child.
Restraining Y our Child 4 Locate the shoulder belt positioner that is on the same side as the vehicle shoulder belt anchor . Fit the vehicle’ s shoulder belt up through the slot in the shoulder belt positioner . 4 Booster Car Seat Mode 19 30-80 lbs.
