8 When handling the ink cartridges Observe th e following whe n handling the ink ca rtridges: ❏ Keep ink cartr i dges out of the reach of chil dren. Do not allow children to d r ink fr om or oth erwise handle t he cartridges.
9 Engli sh ❏ The IC ch ip on thi s ink ca rtridge retains a var iety of cartridge relate d-info rmation, such as the amount of ink rema ining, so that a cart ridge may be removed and r einserted freely.

17 Engli sh Note: ❏ Always test a few sheets of paper to make sure of the print results before printing large jobs. ❏ We recommend disconnecting the USB cable when printing directly from a memory card. For a vail able pa pe r and loa ding capa citie s, refe r to “ Loading A4 Paper ” o n page 17.

Wi th the printa ble side up, load the paper so it is against the right edge g uide, and slide it int o the sheet feeder. 20 Loading Memory Cards Loadable storage media Digital photo graphs are sto red either in the dig ital camera ’ s built-in memory or in card-ty pe memory, which can be inserted and removed fr om the came ra. The la tter is referred to as “ stor age media ” .

23 Engli sh Printing a Selected Photo Index print You can pri nt one or more copies of an index of all the photograp hs on a loaded memory card. An index can be helpful in select ing whic h photos you wa nt to print. 1. Make sure that the Pri nt Mode is set to Index .

30 Various Setting Options Using the LCD Control Panel Main settings 1. Prin t Mode I n t h i s m e n u , y o u c a n s e l e c t h o w t o p r i n t d a t a s t o r e d i n a m e m o r y card. 2. Paper Type Index Print an index o f all photog raphs on t he mem ory card.
31 Engli sh In this menu, the pr int paper can be selected. 3. Paper Siz e In this menu, the siz e of the print paper can be selected. The pr int size is automat ically scaled up/down depending on th e combinatio n of paper size and layout used . 4. Layout In this m enu, the pr int layout can be speci f ied.
32 Note: Layout cannot be set if Index is selected in the Print Mode menu and Sticker is selected in the Paper Type menu. When prin ting on th e total surface area of the sel ected paper, keep note th e following. ❏ Prin ting w ith this sett ing s elec ted take s lon ger th an fo r normal pri nting.
33 Engli sh ❏ Because this sett ing enlarges t he image to a size slightly lar ger than the pap er size, the portion of the image that ext ends beyond the e d ges of the paper will not b e printed . ❏ Print qual ity may decline in the top and bot tom areas of the printout , or the area m ay be smeared when printing on the sheet paper.

Refer t o the “ Advanced sett ings ” on page 39. Main Settings Print all photographs on the memory card All: Print all photograph s on the memo ry card.

36 Single photo print One: Print a single, selected photogr aph from the memory card. Refer to “ Single ph oto print ” on page 25. Print multiple selecte d photographs Set: P rint s ele cted p hoto graph s fro m the memo ry ca rd. 1. Sel ect Set as the Print Mode.

38 7. Si m ilarly, s elect th e number of copi es you want to pri nt from Copies. It can set up to 10 copies. 8. Pr ess the u or d button to sel ect Enter and pre s s the Sele ct button. The photo number and number of copies you selected are registered in the Select Photo submenu.
39 Engli sh Advanced settings Photo N umber The default s etting here is ALL , which means the settings will affect all of the pho tos to print. If ALL or Set is se lecte d in Pr int Mode, you can specify the number of the photo that you want to adjust by using Advanced Se ttings.
40 Enhancements The setting options below are to enhance t he color of printouts. Select Photo E nhance in Aut omatic Correct ion before mak ing this settin g. By default, the se tting i s Standa rd. Refer to the Qui ck Reference for samples of photos with enhancements.
41 Engli sh Saturation This sett ing is to adj ust the v ividnes s of your pri ntouts. B y default, this sett ing is Standard. Sharpness This setting is to adjust the sharpness of your printouts. By default , the sett ing is Standard. Zoom It is possi ble to zoo m in on a ph oto re lative to the spec ified po int and print out the zoo m ed view.
42 Note: ❏ It is possible to check the trimmi ng status by moun ting the optional Preview Monitor. See “ Preview Monitor Black version ” on page 133 for detail s. ❏ Since the photo is zoomed, the image may become blurry depending on the resolution of the original photo.
43 Engli sh Roll Paper Cut When roll p aper is used for p rinting, whether the paper is cut auto matic ally by page c an be sel ected. Also, th is setti ng is no t lost when the print er ’ s power i s turned of f. By def ault, the s etting i s None.
44 Time This sett ing is to print the time informat ion contai ned in your photo data. By defau lt, the sett ing is N one. Print exampl es when the photo d ata includes the time informat ion of 10:0 0 p.
45 Engli sh Fit to Frame This sett ing is to automat ically t rim off the image that extend beyond the marg ins of the sel ected print size, so that th e printed resu lt ma tche s the spec ifie d prin t size .
46 Crop Mark s This functio n prints cro p marks on each page, which make it easie r to c ut the phot os af ter p rinti ng. By defa ult, the se tting is none. Sticker Adjustment: Up/Dow n The prin t pos itio n for p rin ting on th e Ph oto Stick er, A 6 siz e, 16 stickers/sheet is fine adjusted.

48 Cutting Position Adjus tment The cuttin g po siti on o f the auto cutt er ca n be adju sted by sel ec ting this op tion. See “ Using Automatic Roll Paper Cutte r ” on page 69 for info rmation on how t o perform the ali gnment. LCD Contrast The contrast of the LCD panel can be ad justed by selecting thi s option.
49 Engli sh ❏ Do not connect the external storage device while the compu ter is accessing the memory card inserted in the printer. ❏ You can back up 51 2 times to one storage medium. ❏ The message “ Cannot recognize the l oaded media. ” is displayed on the LCD panel if the format of the inserted medium is not DOS/Windows-compatible.
50 Memory Card Over write This opti on sets whether or not wri ting from a co m puter to a memory card i s allowed when the printer is connected to the compu ter. By defau lt, th e settin g is E nable . Language The langu age d ispla yed on th e LCD pane l can be selec ted with this op tion.

Contact your regional customer support for details . ❏ Do not connect USB devices other than an external storage device, such as a p rinter or mouse.

58 ❏ Provide ample space in front of the pr inter fo r the paper to eject full y. ❏ Make sur e that t he output t ray is down and the output tray ext ens ion is c lose d. ❏ Check that the end of the pape r is cut cleanly, perpendicular to the long axis of the paper.

63 Engli sh Attaching the Catcher for 210 mm Roll Paper To receive the 210 mm rol l paper cut off by the cutter, at tach the catcher fo r 210 mm rol l paper. F ollow the steps belo w. c Caution: ❏ When using the catcher for 210 mm roll paper, move t he printer to the edge of the desk or table.
64 ❏ Attach the protective cap when storing the catcher for 210 mm roll paper. 2. In s ert the l eft tip into the left ho le on the f r ont panel o f the printe r.
65 Engli sh c Caution: ❏ The catcher for 210 mm roll pap er can hold only one sheet. When one sheet is printed, immediately remove the sheet from the catcher. ❏ To remove the catcher for 210 mm roll paper, pull out the tip of the catcher being inserted in the printer hole diagonally.

67 Engli sh To print dat a with no margins be tween sepa rate file s, as sho wn below, do not press the z roll paper b utton bet ween print jobs. Note: The top margin is automatically set to 20 mm, regardless of the margin setting. Removing Roll Paper Follow the di rections below t o remove the pa per from the printer .
68 2. Hol d down the z roll pa per button for abo ut 3 seconds. The paper feeds in r ev erse to a position where it can b e easily removed from the sheet feeder at the ba ck of the printer. If it does not fe ed to thi s posit ion , rep eat th is ste p.
69 Engli sh 4. Gent ly remove the p aper, then press the z roll pap er b utt on to clear mai ntenance light. Storing EPSON Roll Paper Return unused paper t o the original package as soon as you finish printing . EPSON recommends st oring your pr intouts in a resealable plastic bag.
70 Note: ❏ Before adjusting the cutter position, it is necessary to turn the printer on and set the roll paper. See for mo re d etail s ab out rol l pap er set tin g. ❏ To maintain a precise cutting position, we recommended to a djust the cutting position each time y ou change the type or size (width) of roll paper.
71 Engli sh Replacing Ink Cartridges Checking the Ink Supply Using the LCD panel To check whic h cartri dge requires replac ing, check the LCD panel. Ink icon ind icates the amount of the ink remaining as follo ws: ✽ Bla ck in k ico n ✽✽ Color ink ico n Black ink icon Color ink icon Status blinks blink s Ink car tridge is emp ty.
72 Replacing an Ink Cartridge This print er uses ink cartridges equ i pped with I C chips. The IC chip accuratel y monitors t he amount of ink u sed by each cart ridg e, so e ven if a c artr idge is re move d an d la ter in sert ed again, all of its ink can be used .
73 Engli sh c Caution: ❏ EPSON recommends the use of genuine EPSON ink cartridges. Other products not manufactured by EPSON may cause damage to your printer not covered by EPSON's warranties. ❏ Leave the old cartridge installed in the printer until you have obtained a replacemen t, or ink remaining in the print head nozzles may dry out.
74 Note: You can identify t he status of the prin ter condition. The ink part of the black or color ink icon displayed in the L CD panel flashes when the ink runs low.
75 Engli sh 5. Remove the new ink ca rtridge from its p r otective bag and then only p eel off the yel l ow tape seal. Do not touch t he green IC c hip on the s ide o f the c art ridg e.
76 c Caution: ❏ You must remove the yellow tape seal from the cartridge before installing it, or the cartridge will b ecome unusable and y ou wi ll be un able to pri nt. ❏ If you have installed an ink cartridge without removing the yellow tape seal, you must remove the cartridge and install a new one.
77 Engli sh 6. Align the tabs on the ink cart ridge so that they are resti ng on the tabs pro truding from the b ase of the opened ink c artridge c l a m p .
78 Maintenance Checking Printer Condition and Maintaing Checking the Print Head Nozzles If you find that the printe d image is unex pectedl y faint or dots in the print ed image are m issing, you may be abl e to identi fy the problem by ch ecking the print hea d nozzles.

80 Note: ❏ Print head cleaning uses both color an d black ink. To avoid wastin g ink, cl ean the pr int hea d only if print quality declin es (for exam ple, if the printout is blurry or the color is incorrect or missing) . ❏ Use the Nozzle Check utility first to confirm that the print head needs to be cleaned.
81 Engli sh c Caution: Never turn the power supply to the printer off while the progress meter is displayed in the LCD panel. Doing so may damage the printer. 4. Foll ow the instructions shown on the display and press the Custom 1 butt on. 5. The print head cleaning wil l start.

83 Engli sh 3. Use a soft brush to caref ully clean away all dust and dirt from the sheet feeder. 4. If the outer case or the inside of the sheet feeder is dirt y, wipe it with a soft, clean cloth dampened with mild detergent. Keep the printe r cover clos ed to preven t water from getti ng inside.
84 c Caution: ❏ When storing or transporting the printer, don't tilt it, put it vertically or turn it upside down. Otherwise, ink may leak from the cartridge. ❏ Leave the ink cartridges installed. Removing the cartridges can dehydrate the printer head and may prevent the printer from prin ting.
85 Engli sh 7. Repack the pri nter and po wer cord in the o riginal box. 8. Keep the pr inter le vel duri ng transport. Troubleshooting The solutio ns herein are for problems when prin ting direct ly from a memory card. If a pro blem occurs while p r inting from a computer, r efer to the online Reference Guide .
86 Paper is not set correctly. Set the pape r correctly, then press the Roll Pap er button if us ing roll pa per, or press th e Main tenance b utton if using she et paper. Load paper in th e sheet feeder, and press the ( maintena nce butt on to turn th is light off.
87 Engli sh Cutter error. See yo ur printer docume ntatio n for informa tion abo ut clearin g the error. Turn t he p rinter off, remove a ny ja mmed pape r, and the n turn it on again. Print Quality Problems Horizontal banding Try one or m ore of these sol utions: ❏ Make sure tha t the prin table side of the paper is face up in the sheet feeder.
