Note : The Navisphere Initi alization Utility runs on servers attac hed to CX3-series, CX700, CX500-series, CX300-se ries, and AX-series storage systems. CX3 model 10 systems must be running FL ARE ® OE 03.24.010.5.xxx or later . CX3 model 20 systems, CX3 model 40 systems, and CX3 model 80 systems must be running FLARE OE 03.

Note : The server utility runs on servers attached to CX3-series, CX-series, and AX-series storage systems. CX3 model 10 systems must be running FLARE OE 03.24.010.5.xxx or later . CX3 model 20 systems, CX3 model 40 systems, and CX3 model 80 systems must be running FLARE OE 03.
Note : The Admsnap Utility runs on servers attached to CX3-seri es and CX-serie s. It als o runs on servers a ttached to AX-ser ies storage system s that have been upgraded to Navisphere Manager , that is, that have the Navispher e Manager enabler installed.

Installing and re mo ving the Navisphere Storage System Initialization Utility EMC recommends that you i nstall the utility on the server; however , you can run the Navisphere Storage System Initialization Utility from the server support CD.
3. T o download the softwar e for CX3–series or CX-se ries storage systems, do the following: a. On the Powerlin k website, s elect Support > Software Downloads and Licensing and navigate to the .
pkgadd -d INITTOOL.pkg 5. T o install the software fr om the server support C D (any storage system ), do t he follow ing: a. In the server ’s drive, insert the se rver support CD, which shipped with the storage system or the upgrade kit (for AX-series syst ems upgrading to Navispher e Manager).
Running the Navis phere Storage System Initialization Utility Yo u c a n s t a r t t h e s torag e system in itializatio n utility from the s erver on which it is inst al led or from the server support CD.

For a CX3–series syst em, this IP address cannot be 128.221.1 .250, 128.221.1.25 1,192.168.1.1, or 192.168.1 .2 because these a ddresses are reser ved. For an AX-series storage system, this IP address cannot be 19 2.
Using the co mmand line initialization utility Use the follo wing switc hes, in combin ation with the app ropriate CLI command, to set initi alization values for the specifi ed storage system.
- ipa spAipaddress |- sphosta spAhostname - configure with the – ipa switch sets the IP address of SP A, or the server name for SP A for the specified storage system. - ipb spBipaddress |- sphostb s pBhostname - configure with the – ipb switch sets the IP add ress of SP B, or the server name for SP B for the specifi ed storage system.
Deter mining whet her to install the host agent or ser ver utility Depending on your application needs, you can install the host agent, server utility , o rb o t ho na na t t a c h e ds e r v e r . If you want to inst all both applications, you must in stall revision 6.

Requirements f or the host agent, ser ver utility , and CLI T o run the host age n t ,C L I ,o rs e r v e ru t i l i t y ,y o u rs e r v e rm u s tm e e t the following req uir ements: Run a supported ve rsion of the Solaris operating system.
Note : For information about the specific revisions of the se rver operating system and the storage-system FL ARE and Access Logix softwar e that are requir ed for your r evision of the host agent, see the r elease notes for the host agent on the EMC Powerlink website.
Installing or rem o ving the Navisphere Host Agent and CLI Y ou can install bo th the host agent and CLI package or j ust the CLI package. If you wi ll install both, install the host agent first. To m o d i f y a n e x i s t ing host agent configuration refer to the next section.
b. Select the appr opriate host agent version to download and select t h eo p t i o nt o s a v et h e z i pf i l et o y o u rs e r v e r . c. At the command line prompt, navigate to the directory wher e you saved the zip fil e and unzip the file. unzip Sun-NA VIAGNT - version .
7. Select the packages that you want to install by doing one of the following: Enter 1 (to install the host agent) Enter 2 (to install CLI) Enter All (to install both the host agent and CLI) 8.
12. V erify the installation by entering the com mand pkginfo -l | grep NA VI* . Depending on what you installed, some of the foll owing may be displayed: NA VIAGENT : Navisph er e Disk Arra y Man.
192.111.222.3 Note :T h e agentID.txt file should contain only these two lines, without any formatting. The first line should contain the hostname and the second line should contain the IP addr ess of the HBA/NIC port as described above. Both lines should end with a carriage return.

If you are just upgrading the host agent or CLI on an existing system, you are finished with the upgrade.
Configuring the N avisphere Host Agent Befor e you can use the Navisphere CLI navicli register command to configure a CX3 -series, CX-serie s, or A X-series s torage sys tem connected to a hos t agent, you must make sur e the host agent configurat ion f ile includes a privileged user , as d escribed in Adding privileged user s , page 28.
2. If you are done adding information to the host agent configuration file, stop and restart the host agent by en tering the fo llowing co mmand s: #/etc/init.
Using the Event Mo nitor conf iguration file T h eN a v i s p h e r eH o st Agent can monitor storage-system events and take such action a s sending email or paging you if specified events occur . The Event M onitor that ships with Navisphere Manager provides an inte r active way to define these events and actions.
Running the Navis phere Host Agent This section desc ribes how to test the host agent connections and how to start and stop t he host agent. Star ting and stopping the Navisphere Host Agent On a Solaris server , the host agent s tarts automatically when you bring the server up to init level 3.
3. V erify that the host agent on the server can see the storage system as follows: a. Enter the following CLI command: navicli [-d de vice ]| -h hostname port -li st -hba Note : Y ou cannot specify both the –d switch and –h switch; y ou must u s eo n eo rt h eo t h e r .

Installing and re mo ving the Navisphere Ser ver Utility This section desc ribes how to install the Navisphere Server Utili ty on a server connecte d to a CX3-series, CX-seri es, or AX-series storage system.

Running the Navis phere Ser ver Utility This section desc ribes how to start and use the server utility . Star ting the Navisphere Ser ver Utility Y ou can run the server utility fr om the server or fr om the server support CD. Starting the Navisphe re Ser v er Utility on a Solar is ser ve r 1.
Updating ser ver inf orma tion on the storage system The Update Server Information option allows you to send information about the server to all connected st orage system s. T o update serv er information, select option 1 fr om the server utility’s We l c o m e screen, and follow th e instructions o n the utility .

Yo u cannot use this switch in conjunction w ith the -user|-u , -password|-p ,a n d -scope|-s switches. -port 443|2 163 Specifies the Navispher e M anagement Server port number . The default is 443. -directory outputdirectory Specifies the dir ectory to w hich you want to deposit the report on the server .

Installing and re mo ving the Admsna p U tility EMC str ongly reco mmends that you install admsnap on all servers connected to a sto rage system that has the SnapV iew driver installed. Important: If you are upgrading your storage system to FLA RE OE version 02.
a. On the Powerlin k website, s elect Support > Software Downloads and Licensing and navigate to the Admsnap Utility download section, which may be in either the CLARiiON SnapV iew section or the SnapV iew section. b. Select the appr opriate Admsnap Utility version to download and select the option to save the zip file to your server .
The CD i s mounted automa tically on /cdro m/admsna p ,w h i c h is linked to /cdrom/cd rom0 . The following command lines use /cdrom/cdrom0 . If the CD does not mount automatically , then mount the CD using the mount/dev/c drom command. The File Manager Admsnap window appears with ADMSNAP .
xxxxxxxx xxxxxx When you see the error -free pkginfo messa ge, admsnap soft ware installation is complete . The software is ins talled in the directory /usr/admsna p . 8. Unmount the CD by entering the unmount/dev/cdrom command. 9. Remove the CD from its drive.
