This DVD player ca n play a variety of disc media incl uding DVD Vide o, Video CD, Audio CD, Super VCD, CVD, and MP3 media format. Input Switches/RDS PS Function The input switches function can switch the st atus between DVD, AUX-input, TV , VCR, and TUNER.

4 PRECAUTIONS Please read the following carefully to get the bes t and safest performance from this DVD player Power Supply Make sure to use the corre ct power outlet as rated on the back of the DVD unit. (AC 100-240V) Power Cord Do not put any heavy objects on top of the powe r cord to avoid fires or electrical shocks caused by cord damage.
5 DISC CARE Disc Usage Please hold all discs by t heir edges o r the center opening as shown below . Do not touch the shiny surface of the discs. Do not stick labels or t ape on the discs, and do not scratch or damage the discs. The disc spins at a high speed during playback.

7 REMOTE CONTROL UNIT T o use the remote control unit to operate the DVD player , in sert two batteries (size AA) making sure that the + and – ends of the batteries are matched to t he +/– marks printed in side the battery compa rtment. T o use the remote controller , please point the remote control unit at the remote sensor on the DVD player .

11 REAR P ANEL AND CONNECTIONS V ideo Output T erminals and Connections Composite V ideo Output T erminal Composite video output is the most com monly used video connection in use today and is suppo rted by most televisi ons and A/V receivers. Composite v ideo is set to display without user setup.
12 S peaker System T erminals Use S peaker System for connection with the external S peakers of FR, FL, R Surround, L Surround, Center and Sub woofer . * External S peakers Load (of FR, FL, R Surround, L Surround, Center) : 4 ohm s; Subwoofer wi th RCA JACK .
13 INITIAL SETTING Press the SETUP button on the remote controller to set up the initial setting. The On-Screen Display (OSD) will di splay below: TV SETUP There are three available item s: They ar e TV DISPLA Y , TV TYPE, and TV OUTPUT .
14 AUDIO OUT (S peaker setup) There are two available items: They are AUDIO OU T and DOWN MIX . AUDIO OUT Y ou can choose to send the player’s audio signals to an external receiver using the following outputs: ANALOG: Audio signals are sent using inner am plifier .
15 SOUND EFFECTS AND TEST TONE There are seven available soun d-ef fect items: They are FRONT , CENTER, REAR, SUBWOOFER, CNTR DIST ., REAR DIST ., and TEST TONE: FRONT Set Front S peakers size large/small CENTER Set Center S peaker size large/small/off .
16 SOUND EFFECTS AND TEST TONE TEST TONE T est the output ability of left, center , right, right surround, and left surround speakers in sequence. NOTE: Please set the “DOWNMIX” item to “5.1CH” first. DOLBY DIGIT AL SETUP There are two availabl e items: They are DUAL MONO and DYNAMIC .
17 Pro Logic II SETUP There are three available it ems: They are Pro Logi c OFF , ON and AUTO . Set to ON to enable Pro Logic II Mode. There are six available items: They ar e Pro Logic, VIR TUAL, MUSIC, MOVIE, MA TRIX, and CUSTOM. Set to MUSIC mode to enable three available items: They are DIMENSION, P ANORAMA, and CE NTER WIDTH.
18 Pro Logic II SETUP CENTER WIDTH Center Width: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7: Center Width control. Allows varia ble adjustment of the center image so it may be heard only from the center speaker , only from the lef t/right speakers as a “phantom” center image, or variou s combinations of all three front speakers.
19 LPCM SETUP This option set s the audio output format sent usi n g the unit’s optical digit al audio output. Linear PCM OUT LPCM 48K In the Linear PCM setting, “48K” means “the digit.
20 CAPTIONS Closed Caption (CC) is a st andardized method of encoding text into an NTSC television signal. A TV can display the text with a built-in decoder .
21 DISC MENU This unit supports six DISC MENU languages. PARENTAL Functions to limit the play back of some discs that contain matu re scenes. The limit ation varies from disc to disc; when it is activated, playback is completel y prohibited. There are eight levels of p arental setting of this unit.
22 ON-SCREEN DISPLA Y (OSD) DVD OSD Modes There are two OSD display modes available when playing a DVD disc. Mode 1 Shows the st atus of the pressed button and some special messages are displayed on the screen. For example, when the OPEN/CLOSE button is pre ssed, the OSD shows: Mode 2 Shows the playback information of a movie or title.
23 BASIC OPERA TION OF PLA YBACK Preparation: If a television set is used, turn on its power and set the TV/V ideo switch to the right channel. If a sound system is used, turn on the amplifier first and make sure its outputs are set properly .
24 F AST FORW ARD/REVERSE SCAN Using the (FF) and (FR) buttons to fast forw ard and reverse scan. DVD Playback When the or button is pressed, the speed of playback changes in c.

26 ADV ANCED OPERA TION OF PLA YBACK REPEA TED Play back TITLE/CHAPTER Repeat When the REPE A T button is pressed, the repe ated playback is triggered and the OSD message is cha nged in cycles of “CHAPTER REPEA T ON”, “TITLE REPEA T ON”, and “REPEA T OFF .
27 MUL TI-ANGLE Play back Some DVD discs may contain scen es with a number of different an gle views. Wheneve r a scene with multiple angle views is played, you can use the ANG L E button to view this scene from different angles. The OSD icon " " will appear on the screen during the playback of a scene with multi-angle views.
28 GOT O Function Under the search mode, specif ic title, chapter , or time can be located for immediate playback. DVD Search Functions During a DVD playb ack, pressing the GOTO button can enable the search function. The OSD will show three search me thods after pressing GOTO button one time and two times.
