6 DIVA Mobile User’s Guide Intr oduction DIV A Mobile is the ideal hardware platform for high-speed connecti vity under almost any condition. W ith an ISDN BRI port, a V .34 modem port, and the ability to transmit analog data via ISDN, it provides the best possible dial- up access from just about any location.
Getting Started 7 P ac ka ging Before installing the DIV A Mobile verify the contents of your package. Y our package should include the follo wing: • a DIV A Mobile PC Card • an ISDN RJ 45 cable .

Getting Started 9 Installation If you hav e installed a former version (only 1.0 or 1.1), or a former beta version of DIV A for W indows 95, or if you use a former v ersion of the Microsoft ISDN Accelerator Pack, you may encounter conflicts due to dif f erent v ersions.
10 DIVA Mobile User’s Guide Installation of the DIV A Mobile PC Card 1 Close all applications on your notebook. 2 Connect the ISDN S/T dongle to the DIV A Mobile’ s ISDN socket (the larger one); connect the modem cable into the DIV A Mobile’ s analog socket (the smaller one which has only 4 poles).

12 DIVA Mobile User’s Guide Software Installation under Windows 95 OEM Software Release 2 (OSR2) After you hav e inserted the DIV A Mobile into your notebook, W indo ws 95 detects the ne w hardware and recognizes it as EICON DIV A Mobile . 1 W indo ws 95 prompts you to install a Standard PCMCIA Car d Modem .
Getting Started 13 11 W indo ws 95 automatically detects the DIV A Mobile ISDN adapter and starts to install the software for the ISDN adapter . Follo w the instructions displayed on the screen; when the DIV A for W indo ws 95 Setup W izard appears go to the section “Using the ISDN Setup W izard” belo w , and continue.
14 DIVA Mobile User’s Guide The follo wing table lists the ISDN components currently a v ailable with the DIV A Mobile: The Setup W izard allo ws you to enter a separate ISDN number for each preconfigured ISDN modem. These numbers can be, for e xample, an MSN with a DSS1 connection or the extension after a PBX.

If you are using the S/T version of DIV A Mobile, you must install an NT1 between the ISDN wall jack and the card (connect the DIV A Mobile to the NT1, and the NT1 to the ISDN wall jack). Y ou can obtain an NT1 from your Eicon T echnology supplier or from a third party .

Solving Problems 27 Star t Up Prob lems W ith a few notebooks the Plug&Play installation of DIV A Mobile may result in resource conflicts or malfunctioning. This might be due to the Plug&Play hardware and software of the de vices, or an improper installation of other hardware or software components.
28 DIVA Mobile User’s Guide Malfunctioning due to a covered resour ce conflict The DIV A Mobile hardware and software is installed, b ut after rebooting the PC the DIV A Mobile does not function. This usually occurs when a malfunctioning dri ver uses resources without signaling the system.
Solving Problems 29 System crash on 32-Bit-CardBus Contr oller PCs (from Windo ws 95 OSR2) DIV A Mobile has been successfully installed and detected, but after the f irst installation step (installation of the multifunction adapter) the PC freezes or sho ws a black or blue screen.
30 DIVA Mobile User’s Guide Hot Swapping (Modem Remo v al) Pr oblems In general, you can remov e and reinsert DIV A Mobile while the PC is on. Some applications, ho we ver , do not support “hot swapping”; problems may occur if you remov e the DIV A Mobile while the PC is on.
Solving Problems 31 T r oubleshooting The DIV A for W indo ws 95 driv er includes a debugging tool called DITRA CE. Refer to the online help chapter Debug ging for more information on DITRA CE. The online help is accessed by clicking Start on the T askbar , going to Programs/DIV A for W indo ws 95, and selecting DIV A for W indo ws 95 help.
