10 10 Safety prec autions Before Use CAUTION ● Wiring and installing this main unit requires exper tise and experience. Prof essional installation is recommended. Consult with your dealer or a professional installation expert. Incorrect wiring may damage the main unit or interfer e with safe operation of the vehicle.
11 11 IMPORTANT ● When there is a lot of vibration – when drivi ng on a bad road for example – the main unit may become inoperable due to it not being able to read data from the disc. ● Condensation may accumulate on the lens, with the function requiring reading of CDs and DVDs, immediately after turning ON the heater in cold temperatures.
12 12 Before Use Before use CAUTION ● Be very careful and pay full attention to safety when operatin g the audio controls while driv ing. Otherwise accidents may occur. Also, be sure to set the volume so th at you can still adequately hear sounds outside the vehicle.
13 13 ● Do not leave the monitor in tilt position when you are not using it. Otherwise, it may be damaged. ● Do not insert any objects other than discs into the disc slot. Otherwise damage may result. ● Be careful not to get your fingers or other objects caught behind the monitor when it is being retracted into place.
14 14 Before use Before Use ATTENTION ● In cold or rainy weather, just as the interior glass surface becomes fogged, dew (water condensation) may also settle on the main unit. When this occu rs, disc playback may become intermittent or impossible. Dehumidify the air in the vehicle for a while befor e resuming playback.
15 15 ● A Copy Control CD (CCCD) may not be pla yed as it does not meet the of ficial CD Standard. ■ Handling discs ● Do not plac e a disc in direc t sunlight; store each disc in their pro tective cases. Other wise, discs may warp and fail to play.

17 Operation 17 About This Receiver You can operate this receiver by pressing the pan el buttons (panel switches) or by touchi ng the switches displayed on the scree n (touch switches). ■ Panel Switches Press each panel switch to operate it. 18 18 About This Receiver Operation When the power is turned on, the state used when the power was turned off such as CD and tuner playback is restored. When the vehicle has no ACC positi on on the ignition switch, care is needed when turning of f the main unit.
19 19 ● The PND display will go OFF. ● The PND display will come ON. ■ Using the PND The navigation f unction can also be used even if the PND is detached from the main unit. ATTENTION For details on using PND, refer to the operation manual of the PND.
20 20 About This Receiver Operation ■ Using the Audio Cover After detaching the PND, we recommend you to use the optional Audio Cover for this receiver. ■ Fitting the Audio Cover ● Engage the catc h at the left en d of the Audio Cover with the lock on th e main unit.
21 21 When the screen shines d ue to ambient sunlight, you can adj ust the angle of the display. CAUTION IMPORTANT ● You can change the til t angle in one step each time you press the butto n. ● The angle can be c hanged in 5°, and can be tilted up to 30°.
22 22 About This Receiver Operation When you listen to a music, insert a CD int o the drive slot. Al so, when you play a movie, insert its DVD into the slot. ■ Loading Steps CAUTION IMPORTANT ● The display will open and the disc insert ion slot will open.

31 Operation 31 Volume Control ● Turn to the right to i ncrease the volume. Turn to the left to decrease the volume. ATTENTION ● Adjust the volume level that does not affect on your safety driving. ● You can control the volume level from 0 to 80.

33 33 ■ Selecting phase (NON-FADER PHASE) The merger of sound bet ween the front and rear speakers and the woofer can be improved by selecting the phase. Switch the phase which l ets the speakers combine without any dish armony. ● To the right: NORMAL Make the output timing of the fro nt/rear speakers and the woofer the same.
34 34 Audio operations Using the Radio CAUTION IMPORTANT ■ Manual Tuning ● To the right: Tunes up for one step. To the le ft: Tunes down for one step. ■ Auto Tuning ● When a station h aving the frequency closest to the one shown on the sc reen is tuned, the auto tunin g stops.
35 35 ■ Selecting a Preset Channel ● To the right: Switches to the next larger preset channel. To the le ft: Switches to the next smaller prese t channel. ■ Touching a Preset Switch ● The registered preset channel will be selected and th e corresponding station will be received.
36 36 Using the Radio Audio operations ■ Auto Station Memory (ASM) IMPORTANT ● The automatic st ation selection wil l start with a beep sound. A search will be conducted from th e lowest frequency through progressively h igher frequencies and stations with strong reception wil l be memorized for preset regis tration numbers [1] to [6].
37 Audio operations 37 How to use the SIRIUS satellite radio When an optional SI RIUS satellite radio tuner is connected, SIRI US satellite radio broadc asts can be received. With SIRIUS satellite radi o, over 100 channels are avai lable including music , news, and ente rtainment programs.

39 39 IMPORTANT ● The selected stati on will be memorized. To set additi onal manually selected stations for the rema ining preset channels, repeat this procedure for eac h preset channel. Subsequently , when listening to the satellite radio you will be able to tune into statio ns by touching the preset sw itch.
40 40 Audio operations How to use the XM satellite radio When an optional XM satellit e radio tuner is connected, XM satell ite radio broadcasts can be received. With XM satellit e radio, over 100 channels are availabl e including music, ne ws, and entertainmen t programs.

44 44 Using the CD Player Audio operations You can fast forward or rewind the track currently being pl ayed. ● To the right: Fast forwards a track. To the le ft: Rewinds a track. When a beep sounds, the f ast forward (or rewind) mode starts and the s ong is fast forwarded (or rewound) u ntil you remove your finger from the switc h.
45 45 ● All titles of the CD are played in random order. ● When you touch , the random play conti nues until you cancel it. When you touch again, the random play is can celed. The current track number and the elapsed time can be shown on the sub-display.
46 46 Audio operations Using the MP3/WMA Player When you insert a CD-R/RW disc having an MP3/WMA file i nto disc slot, the file is played . CAUTION IMPORTANT ● The disc starts to play. ● The files are usu ally played in the following sequence: J J J J J J “[A configuration example of MP3/WMA supported CD]” on page 53.
47 47 You can select a desired folder from the disc . ● Up: Goes to the next higher fold er and plays the first track of this folder. Down: Goes to the next lower fold er and plays the first track of this folder. You can select a desired music f ile from the folder.
48 48 Using the MP3/WMA Player Audio operations IMPORTANT ● Touch to retu rn to the previ ous page. ● Current folder: Plays t he first 10 seconds of each track cont ained in the same f older layer. First song of each folder: Plays th e first 10 seconds of track in each fold er.
49 49 IMPORTANT ● Current fold er: Plays files in random order contained in the same la yer of the current folder. All songs: Plays f iles of all folders in random order. When you touch , the random play cont inues until you can cel it. When you touch again, the random play is canceled.

51 51 MP3 (MPEG Audio Layer 3) is a s tandard format for audio compressi on technology. By using MP3, a file can be compressed to one-tent h the size of the original. WMA (Windows Media™ Audi o) is the Microsoft's vo ice compression technolo gy.
52 52 Using the MP3/WMA Player Audio operations ■ ID3/WMA Tags You can store ID3/WMA tag c haracter information such as track titles and artist na mes in an MP3 and a WMA file. This receiver support s ID3v.1.0 and ID3v.1. 1 tags. This receiver su pports the ISO 8859-1 codes only.

54 54 Using the MP3/WMA Player Audio operations ■ Playing MP3/WMA When you load a disc with MP3/WMA files, the system firs t checks all files recorded on the disc. If the disc has many files and folders, the system ma y take a certain ti me to check them.
55 55 ■ Writing MP3/WMA Files On a CD-R/RW Disc MP3/WMA files can be recorded on CD-R/RW by using a CD-R/RW drive connected to a computer. Record b y setting the recordi ng format of the recordi ng software to ISO9660 lev el 1 or level 2 (not including ext ension form at).
56 56 Audio operations Using the USB Music File Player This receiver can pla y a music file sto red in a USB memory. Thi s receiver can play MP3 files only. IMPORTANT CAUTION IMPORTANT ● Playback will b egin. It is possible to fa st forward/rewind the track currently being played.

60 60 Visual operations Before Using the DVD Player This receiver can play hi gh quality images and hi gh quality digital sound of DVD videos. Also, you can select a ny of languages (such as dubbi ng and subtitles) recorded on the DVD by switching the vi deo and audio channels.
61 61 ■ Types of Pla yable Discs This equipment conforms to NTSC color television methods, s o please use discs tha t display “NTSC” on the disc or package. This equipm en t cannot play discs using colo r television methods other tha n NTSC (such as PAL, SECAN).

76 76 Visual operations Using the VTR You can watch a video by con necting a commercially available VTR. You cannot, however, connect the iPod cable (vid eo line) and VTR together. IMPORTANT CHECK You can watch a video only when you have stopped your vehicle and applied the parking brake to secure safety while the engine switch or ACC is turned on.

78 78 How to operate portable audio devices Using the iPod Player Once an iPod is con nected, you can play iPod music or video files. Using this receiver, y ou can perform operations, for example, selectin g a file from the lis t or changing to the rand om playback mode.

This switches to the fast forward or rewind mode, and continu es fast forwarding or rewinding until you remove your finger from the butt on.
