In extreme condition s, such as commercial cutting or when cutting thick and/or dense b ranches, efficiency may be increased by trimming without the blade guard.
14 X7532249501 © 4/2013 ECHO Inc. ASSEMBLY HC-152 4. Remove first four blade locknuts (A) and washers in front of front handle/guard. Do not remove blade bolts. 5. Tighten blade bolts (B) until snug. Insta ll blade guard, then washers 6. Loosen blade bolts ½ turn.

16 X7532249501 © 4/2013 ECHO Inc. OPERATION HC-152 • NEVER refuel a unit when t he engine is HOT or RUNNING! • DO NOT fill fuel tanks indoors. ALWAYS fil l fuel tanks outdoors over bare ground. • DO NOT overfill fuel tank. Wipe up spil ls immediately.
HC-152 OPERATION X7532249501 17 © 4/2013 ECHO Inc. Move stop switch (A) away from the STOP position. 2. Choke Move choke (B) to Cold Start ( ) (closed) position. 3. Purge Bulb Pump purge bulb (C) until fuel is visible and flows freely in the clear fuel tank return line.
18 X7532249501 © 4/2013 ECHO Inc. OPERATION HC-152 Starting Warm Engine The starting procedure is the same as Cold Start except DO NOT close the choke. The blades must not move at idle, otherwise serious personal injury may resu lt. Periodic carburetor adjustment may be necessary to assu re blades do not move at idle.

Breathing CO can cause unconsciousness, serious injury, or death . Exhaust can cause serious burns. ALWAYS position unit so that exhaust is directed away from yo ur face and body.

22 X7532249501 © 4/2013 ECHO Inc. MAINTENANCE HC-152 Spark Plug Level 2. Use only NGK BPM-8Y spark plug (BPMR-8Y in Canada) otherwise severe engine damage may o c cur. 1. Remove spark plug and check for fouling, worn and rounded center electrode. 2. Clean the plug or replace with a n ew one.

24 X7532249501 © 4/2013 ECHO Inc. MAINTENANCE HC-152 4. Inspect heat shield, and replace if dama ged. 5. Install heat shield and muffler. 6. Tighten muffler mounting bolts (or nuts) to 80-95 in•lbf (90-110 kgf•cm). 7. Install engine cover and attach spa rk plug lead.

26 X7532249501 © 4/2013 ECHO Inc. MAINTENANCE HC-152 1. Clean dirt from the grease fitting (A). 2. Apply 1-2 pumps of grease into fit ting, DO NOT over fill. Leave room for the grease to expand during operation 3. Wipe excess grease from around grease fitting.
