EJ78X-1-INS-LAB-RevA10 7 HANDLING TIPS The Ever est & Jennings EJ78X-1 Transport Chair has been designed and engineered to perform as a stable and well balanced unit when used for its intended purpose. However , it is possible to tip the T ranspor t Chair over if it is used impr operly .
8 EJ78X-1-INS-LAB-RevA10 FOR A TTENDANT : TIL TING Tilting the T ransport Chair backward is generally r e- quir ed to negotiate such obstacles as ramps, inclines, curbs, stairs and door sills. Tilting should only be performed by an attendant. T o tilt the T ranspor t Chair backwar d: 1.
EJ78X-1-INS-LAB-RevA10 9 For attendant: curb ascent facing forwar d 1. Ensur e that the hand grips are secur ely fastened and do not turn or slip. 2. Stand behind the T ranspor t Chair , holding the hand grips, facing the curb. 3. Advise the user that you will be tilting backwar d and r emind the user to lean back.
10 EJ78X-1-INS-LAB-RevA10 4 ADJUSTMENTS The T ranspor t Chair offers several adjustments to make it easier and more comfortable to operate. Section 6, MAINTENANCE, offers preventive maintenance suggestions for keeping your T ranspor t Chair in excellent condition; ensur e that all components are in excellent condition befor e adjusting.

Proper car e and maintenance ar e essential to keep your Transport Chair in safe working condition. Periodic inspection, adjustment, and r eplacement of worn par ts will provide many years of superb performance.

It should function with ease and should travel straight without excessive drag or pull to one side. Remember , your Graham-Field dealer knows your Transport Chair best when it comes to ser- vice and r epairs.
16 EJ78X-1-INS-LAB-RevA10 Check footr ests Check footr ests at least once a month. Inspect the locking mechanisms to conrm sure t. Check for cracks, burrs, or sharp edges, and r eplace if found. Ensure that the footr est will auto- matically lock secur ely in place and will not accidentally unlock.
