Satellite Receiver 13 Dual and Single Modes D UAL AND S INGLE M ODES Y our satellite receiver includes two modes of operation: Dual and Single. These modes increase your entertainment op tions because you’ll be able to choose how you watch and record your favorite programs.
Chapter 2 14 Dual and Single Modes Single Mode Single Mode provides dual- tuner receiver featu res—like Picture-in- Picture (PIP) and the ability to watch one live program w hile re cording anothe r—to all connected TVs.

39 Setting Up Y our Favorites List s Favorites List s One of the benefit s of DISH Ne twork is that you have access to many channels. However , the number of channels can make it difficul t to find something to watch. When you read this chapter , you’ll learn how to set up and use Favorites Lists.
Chapter 5 40 What are Favorit es Lists? W HAT ARE F AVORITES L IST S ? Favorites Lists are list s of your favorite channels. Y ou can create and change the list s yourself, adding and re moving channels as you wish. Y our favorite channels can be grouped into up to four list s for TV1 and four list s for TV2 (in Dual Mode).

Chapter 5 42 Tips T IP S • T wo lists cannot have the sa me name. Fo r example, on TV1 , you cannot have two lists name d “Dad’ s List.” However , TV1 a nd TV2 can have lists with the same names. • Pressing GUIDE to switch Favorites Lists works only if you have added channels to the Favorites List.
43 Securing Y our Receiver and Account Locks An important concern to pa rents is the ability to protect their children. With high tech television comes greater poten tial for unwa nted programming beamed into your home. Use the safeguards described in this chapter to set up and use locks.
Chapter 6 44 What are Locks? W HAT ARE L OCKS ? Locks allow you to p assword-protect programming base d on ratings, or on a channel-by- channel basis. When you have locked the receiver: • If you try to access a locked item or open the Locks men u, the rec eiver displays a message prompting you to ente r the password .
Locks 45 Creating or Changing a Password C REATING OR C HANGING A P ASSWORD The first thing to do before using the receiver locks is set up your pa ssword. 1 Press MENU and select Locks (5). 2 If the receiver is locked, enter the passw ord using the NUMBER PAD.

Locks 49 Locking or Unlocking the Fron t Panel L OCKING OR U NLOCKING THE F RONT P ANEL This lock keep s anyone from using the fr ont pan el buttons unless they enter the correct password, but it does not lock the re mote control buttons. This option is only available on TV1 menus.
Chapter 6 50 Tips T IP S • If the receiver displays a message prompting you to en ter a pa ssword, the receiver is locked. • If you want to unlock the re ceiver or any specific lock, use the password for the TV output you’re watching. For example, use TV1’ s pa ssword to unlock TV1’s locks an d TV2’s p assword for TV2’s locks.
