Page 36 Chapter 3 Using the System Using T imers Event timers let you to set up the receive r to tune in future programs and/or record them on a VCR. An “e vent” is a program, sports eve nt, pay per view movie or anything else on satellite TV .
Page 37 Using T imers Page 37 Before an Event Timer Operates Five minutes before an event timer op erates, the receiver displays a small blinking “clock” symbol on the TV sc reen. This symbol disappears when the program begins. While the symbol is displa yed, you may do either on e of the following.

The receiver d isplays a timer symbol in the Program Guide , and also when you press the INFO button to get information about the program.

If you try to create too many , the receiver displays a menu giving you the option to delete an existing timer . If you do not dele te an existing timer , you will not be able to create any new ones.

Page 43 Setting Up a VCR for VCR T i mers Page 43 8. Make sure the VCR is turn ed on. Insert a rewound tape on which you want to record. Note : The receiver only starts and stops the VCR recording, but does not turn on the VCR. Y ou must turn on the VCR yourself.
Page 44 Chapter 3 Using the System When Y ou Have Locked the Receiver If you try to access a locked item or open the Parent al and System Locks menu, the receiver displays a message prompting you to enter the password. The receiver allows you three tries to enter the correct password.

T o use this feature, make sure you hav e a phone line conn ected to the receiver and that the Caller ID feature is enabled.
