14 © 2004 directed electronics, inc. If P assive M ode has been programmed on, then it is also possible to program the system for P assive Locking. W ith P assive Locking, the vehicle doors lock automatically at the same time that the F ailsafe ® Starter Kill is activated.
15 © 2004 directed electronics, inc. The remote will indicate unlock notification with 2 beeps and 3 flashes of the Orange LED. disabling the starter kill without a 2-way remote If your 2-way r emote is lost or damaged, you can manually o ver- ride the starter kill.
16 © 2004 directed electronics, inc. panic mode If you ar e threatened in or near your v ehicle, you can attract attention by triggering the system with your 2-way r emote. J ust press for 3-seconds, and y ou will enter P anic M ode. The horn will honk (if connected) and the parking lights (if connected) will flash for the programmed duration.
17 © 2004 directed electronics, inc. The in-vehicle status LED will light steadily if you ar e entering V alet ® M ode, and it turn off if you are exiting V alet ® M ode. The remote will r espond with 3 Orange LED flashes on entering and 2 beeps and 3 Orange LED flashes on exiting V alet ® Mode.
18 © 2004 directed electronics, inc. T o remote star t the vehicle: 1. P ress on the 2-way remote twice within 3 seconds. 2. The parking lights will flash to confirm that the vehicle will attempt to start. 3. In gasoline v ehicles, the engine will start 4 seconds after the parking lights flash.
19 © 2004 directed electronics, inc. While the vehicle is running during remote start operation, the system will monitor the vehicle and will automatically shut do wn the engine if the system receiv es any of the following shut-down inputs: ➤ The brake pedal is pressed.

25 © 2004 directed electronics, inc. shut down inputs This system uses several inputs to shut do wn the remote start operation of the motor or prev ent remote start if cer tain inputs are active. These are the hood and brake inputs. The hood input will prev ent the motor from starting, as well as shut it down, any time the hood is opened.

This pro vides a cleaner spectrum with less inter ference and a mor e stable signal. Enjo y a phenomenal increase in range, even in ar eas with high radio interference.

If the vehicle is not used (ignition is not turned on) for a one hour period while the system is in V alet ® Mode, the status LED will shut off .
