The system r equires no specifi c m ainten ance . Y our remote is pow- ered by a mini ature 12V battery , type GP23A, that will last appr o x- imately on e year under n orm al use . When the battery weak ens, operatin g rang e will be r edu ced and the LED on th e remote will dim.

8 © 2000 Directed Electr onics , Inc . This feature allows you to disarm th e system without the tr an s- mitter should it be lost, d amaged or disabled . In or der to disarm without a tr ansmitter , you m ust have th e vehicle's i gnition key and kn ow where th e V alet switch is located.

Just press for 1.5 secon ds, and you will en ter P anic M ode . The sir en will sound an d the parking li gh ts will flash for 30 secon ds.

Press (or the chann el 2 button). 4. Press again. The status LED will li ght solid if you ar e en tering V alet Mod e, or will go out if you ar e exiting V alet Mod e .
11 © 2000 Directed Electr onics , Inc . NOTE: Arming and disarmin g the system d oes not r eset this function! The only ways to r eset a bypassed zone ar e for it to r emain untrigg ered for 60 min utes, or to turn on th e igniti on.
Extra disarm chirps ar e the T amper Alert. If four chirps ar e h eard when disarmin g, the system was trigg er ed in your absence . If five chirps are h eard, a zon e was tri gger ed so many tim es that Nuisan ce Preventi on Cir cuitry has bypassed that zone .
Code Hopping ™ The r eceiver and tran smitters each use a m athem atical form ula called an algorithm to chan ge their cod e each tim e the tr ansmit- ter is used. This techn ology has been developed to incr ease th e security of th e unit. The contr ol unit kn ows what the n ext codes should be .
