5 © 1999 Directed Electr onics, In c. T r ansmitter Functions The r eceiver uses a computer-based Learn Routine to learn th e tran smitter buttons . This makes it possible to assi gn any r emote tran smitter button, or combinati on of buttons , to any r eceiver functi on.
U sing Y our Sy stem Y ou can turn on, or arm, the system by pr essing o f your tran s- mitter for on e second . When the system arm s, you will h ear a short sir en sound , or chirp, and see the parkin g ligh ts flash once . If the vehi cle’s power door locks ar e controlled by th e system, the doors will lock.
When armed, your v ehicle is protected in the f ollowing way s: ■ Ligh t impacts will trigg er the W arn Away® si gnal. When tri g- ger ed, th e siren will chirp and th e parking li ghts will flash for a few seconds . ■ Heavy impacts will tri gger th e system.
8 © 1999 Directed Electr onics, In c. T o turn off, or disarm th e system, press again. Y ou will hear two chirps, an d the parkin g lights will flash twi ce . If power locks are con trolled by th e system, the doors will unlock. If th e siren chirps either f our or five times wh en disarming, see Diagn ostics section.
9 © 1999 Directed Electr onics, In c. T o disarm without a transmitter: T urn on th e igniti on. Push the V alet ® switch within 15 seconds . The sys- tem should n ow disarm. If it does not, you m ay have waited too long, so turn the i gnition o ff and on and try again.

This is very useful when washing th e vehicle or havin g it serviced . In Valet M ode , the system will n ot arm, even with the tr ansmitter , but all convenien ce functi ons (door locks , trunk release , etc.

Input: A physi cal connecti on to th e system. An input can be pro- vid ed by a sensor , pinswitch or to e xisting system s in the vehicle , such as i gnition or courtesy li ghts. LED: Red ligh t moun ted somewher e in the vehi cle. I t is used to indi cate the status o f your system.
