2 Features Fully Discrete, identical quality and power for all 5 channels (110 W x 5ch) The unit is equipped with a power amplifier that reproduces high- fidelity sound in surround mode with equal quality and power for all channels, true to the original sound.

4 Important information • Make connections as follows before using this unit. Select an appropriate connection type according to the components to be connected. • You may need to make some settings on this unit depending on the connection method.
5 Cables used for connections Audio and video cable (sold separately) HDMI cable • This interface allows transfer of digital video signals and digital audio signals over a single HDMI cable.
6 Connecting an HDMI-compatible device • When this unit is connected to other devices with HDMI cables, connect this unit and TV also with an HDMI cable. • When connecting a device that supports Deep Color transmission, please use a “High Speed HDMI cable” or “High Speed HDMI cable with Ethernet”.
7 Connecting a Blu-ray Disc player/DVD player • You can enjoy video and audio from a Blu-ray Disc or DVD. • Select the connector to use and connect the device. • For instructions on HDMI connections, see “Connecting an HDMI-compatible device” ( v page5 ).
8 Connecting a digital camcorder • You can enjoy video and audio from a digital camcorder. • For instructions on HDMI connections, see “Connecting an HDMI-compatible device” ( v page5 ).
9 Connecting a control dock for iPod • Connect a control dock for iPod to the unit to enjoy video and music stored on an iPod. • For a control dock for iPod, use ASD-11R, ASD-3N, ASD-3W, ASD-51N and ASD-51W made by DENON (sold separately).
10 Connecting an antenna • Connect the FM antenna or AM loop antenna supplied with the unit to enjoy listening to radio broadcasts. • After connecting the antenna and receiving a broadcast signal ( v page 17 “Listening to FM/AM broadcasts”), fix the antenna with tape in a position where the noise level becomes minimal.

12 Playing a Blu-ray Disc player/DVD player The following describes the procedure for playing Blu-ray Disc player/ DVD player. 1 Prepare for playback. q Turn on the power of the TV, subwoofer and player. w Change the TV input to the input of this unit.
13 Playing an iPod If you use a separately sold DENON control dock for iPod (ASD-11R, ASD-3N, ASD-3W, ASD-51N or ASD-51W), you will be able to play back videos, photos, music, and other content on the iPod. The playback method differs depending on the control dock for iPod to be used and the files to be played back (music or video).
14 Playing an iPod • To play back compressed audio with extended bass or treble reproduction, we recommend playback in RESTORER mode ( v page39 ). The default setting is “ON”. • In Browse mode, press STATUS during playback to check the title name, artist name and album name on the display of this unit.

27 Convenient functions Sleep timer function The power automatically goes into standby once the set time has elapsed. This is convenient for playing sources while going to sleep. Press SLEEP and display the time you want to set. The “ SLEEP ” indicator on the display lights.

36 Adjusting the sound field effects The sound being played in the surround mode can be adjusted to your liking. The items (parameters) that can be adjusted depend on the signal being input and the currently set surround mode. For details on the adjustable parameters, see “Surround modes and surround parameters” ( v page48 ).

The information displayed changes each time you press STATUS . The information is displayed for several seconds before the display returns to its original condition.
