12 Charging y our batter y Batter y m ust be initially charged for a full 12 hours befor e first use. Failure to full y charge the batter y ma y result in the batter y de veloping a memory . If the batter y dev elops a memor y , it will hold less charge with each following charge.
13 The phone cord plugs into the C4230 phone base as shown abo ve. Plug the other end of the phone cord into a telephone wall jack. Connect the A C adapter to the back of the base and a 120V wall outlet as shown abov e.

15 BASIC HANDSET OPERA TIONS V olume Control During a call, the dial on the side controls the le vel of volume f or the handset and speakerphone. The volume dial pr ovides up to 16dB of volume befor e the BOOST button is activated. Once the BOOST button is pressed, the C4230 will pro vide up to 50dB of amplification.

19 Boost On/Off The BOOST button controls the loudness of the SPEAKERPHONE. Once the BOOST button is pressed, an extra lev el of amplification is added ov er the entire range of volume contr ol. Last number r edialed Press REDIAL to dial last n umber dialed from the base.
20 TELEPHONE OPERA TIONS Inter com from Base (The inter com will allow the person on the Handset to speak to the person at the Base station.) Press the P A GE button on the base . If additional handsets ha ve been pur chased, press the page button on the base and the handset number y ou wish to page on the base dial pad.
21 Lamp Flasher This function is only a vailable with the optional C2210 Lamp Flasher Notification Accessor y . Instructions on use will come with pur chase of Lamp Flasher .

23 TELEPHONE OPERA TIONS Date and Time Not e : If you ha ve Caller ID ser vice the Date and Time will automatically set when y ou receiv e your first call. (Caller ID will not auto set Da y of W eek) Select D A TE AND TIME on the menu screen. The screen will then displa y a time with the hour blinking.
24 TELEPHONE OPERA TIONS Once the date and time ha ve been enter ed, press the (soft k ey) Sa ve to sa v e settings. Press the Arro w button down again and choose the weekda y . Use the (soft k ey) Change to select da y of the week. Once the day of the w eek has been entered, press the (soft k ey) Sa ve to sa v e setting.
25 TELEPHONE OPERA TIONS Auto T alk Auto T alk allows the user to remov e the Handset from the base during an incoming call and immediately start talking without pressing the T alk Button. Auto T alk’ s default is set to Off. When picking the handset off the base, press the T alk button to answ er the phone.
26 TELEPHONE OPERA TIONS LCD Contrast Select LCD Contrast on the submenu. Use the Arr ow buttons to scroll fr om Lo to Hi. Select the desired setting and then pr ess the (soft k ey) Sa ve. This will sa ve the setting and r eturn to the Main Menu Scr een.

The screen will displa y Edit or Erase . Select Edit. T o edit name use the (soft ke y) Clear to clear the letters of the name.
29 TELEPHONE OPERA TIONS Sa ving Caller ID information into Phonebook Select Caller List on the Main Menu. Then select the desired name to be stor ed into the phonebook. Press the (soft k ey) Options. Then use the Arro w buttons to scr oll down to Store.
30 When viewing the phonebook entry , press the (soft k ey) Format to place the ar ea code in parenthesis or add 1 in fr ont of the area code. T o dial from phonebook Select the desired name and n umber from the phone- book and press the T ALK button.
31 Caller ID Re view If there is ne w call information, the displa y will show the number of ne w calls received bef ore the y hav e been re view ed. Select Caller List fr om the main menu. Use Arrow buttons to scr oll up or down to view the Caller ID content.
32 Erasing Caller ID Information Select the desired CID r ecord y ou would lik e to delete. Next, press the (soft k ey) Options. Choose erase on the sub-menu, and then press the (soft k ey) Select. T o erase all entries, scroll do wn to Erase All. Press the (soft k ey) Select.
33 BASIC BASE FUNCTIONS ANSWERING MA CHINE Messag e Capacity The answ ering machine will hold up to 10 minutes of messages. The T elephone Answ ering Machine can be accessed in the following thr ee wa ys: • Access from the Base • Access from the Handset • Access from a r emote location.
34 FFWD Press the FFWD (F orward) button to forwar d to the next message. Pla y Press the PLA Y button to pla y the messages receiv ed. When pla yback begins, the number of new messages receiv ed will be announced, as well as the da y and time message was recor ded.

38 Erase OGM Use the Arr ow button to scroll to Erase OGM. A new screen will a ppear . Select Y es or No to Erase . Ring Number Select Ringer Number . Scroll up or do wn to select the desired number of rings to ha ve befor e the Answ ering Machine answers.
39 Security ID The Security ID is to access the Answering Machine from a Remote Location. The ID is defaulted as 1 2 3. T o change the Security ID , select Security ID and enter the three (3) digit code y ou wish to set as your ne w Security ID number .
40 Access fr om a Remote Location The answ ering machine can be accessed from an y touch-tone telephone by entering the thr ee (3) digit security code after hearing the outgoing message. Access Pr ocedure: 1. Dial y our phone number 2. W ait for the Answ ering Machine to pick up and issue the tone.
41 Memor y is full If the answ ering machine memor y is full, the answ ering machine will answ er on the 10th ring and announce “Memor y Full. ” W ait seven (7) seconds to enter the security code. Recording and pla ying memos Memos are self-r ecorded messages.
