5 About This Manual... This manual explains how to es tablish a wireless LAN connection between a CASIO XJ-M145, XJ-M155, XJ-M245, XJ-M255 Data Projector and a comp uter, and send computer screen contents to the projector fo r projection.
6 What the Wireless Function Lets You Do... Send computer screen conten ts to the Data Projector ove r a wireless connection and project the m. The projector has a built-in function that l ets it operate as a wireless LAN acce ss point.
7 Wireless MobiShow Projection from a Smartphone or Mobi le Terminal You can install AWIND’s MobiShow o n a smartphone o r mobile terminal , and then use the projector to project photographs and presenta tion files stored i n the smar tphone or term inal memory.
8 Projector Requirements The projector must meet the fo llowing conditio ns in order to use a wirele ss LAN connection to project computer screen contents. z The wireless a dapter that comes with the projector m ust be connected co rrectly to the pr ojector.
9 Installing Wireless Connection 3 Important! The latest vers ion of the compute r software in cluded on the C D-ROM that comes with this product is available for download at the CASIO website URL bel.
10 1. Place the CD-ROM that comes with the pr ojector into your computer’s CD-ROM drive. z This will automatica lly display the CD-ROM m enu screen. 2. On the menu screen, click the [Install] button to the righ t of “Wireless Connection 3”. z Follow the instructio ns on the dialog boxe s that appear on the screen.
11 As shown in the figure below, connect the wireless adapter that comes with the projector to its USB port. Important! z Keep the wireless ada pter in a safe place when it is not connecte d to the projector. z Never try to use the wire less ad apter that comes with the proj ector with any other type of device.
12 Establishing a Wireless LA N Connection between the Projector and a Computer This section explains how to establish a wireless LA N connection between the pro jector and a computer under the projector ’s initial default “Wi reless” settings. “Wireless” is one o f the projector’s built-i n applic ations.
13 Wireless is one of the pr ojector’s built-in appli cations. It m akes it possi ble to establ ish a wirele ss LAN connection between the pro jector and a co mputer, and projec t the computer’s display content s. To perform wirel ess projection Press the [INPUT ] key and select “ USB” as the in put source.
14 Wireless Connecti on 3 is control sof tware for a computer that conne cts to the projector via wireless LAN connection. To start up Wireless Connection 3 Perform either of the following oper ations to start up Wireless Connection 3 on the computer.
15 To display Wireless Connection 3 help On a Wireless Connection 3 window , clic k the function menu button and then click [H elp] on the menu that appears. To display Wireless Connecti on 3 version information On a Wireless Connection 3 window , click the function menu bu tton and then click [About] on the menu that appears.
16 4. On the computer, start up Wireless Connection 3. z If your computer is running Windows Vista or Windows 7, starting up Wireless Connection 3 will cause the “User Account Control” message to appear. Whe n it does, click [A llow]. z The Wireless Conne ction 3 window wi ll appear with the message “Co nnecting”.
17 7. To close Wireless Connectio n 3, click the close button in the upper right corner of its window. z If the messag e “The proje ctor is still proj ecting. OK to exit?” appear s, click [OK]. z This closes the Wi reless Conne ction 3 window and retu rns the projecte d image to the Wireless standby screen.
18 Configuring Security Setti ngs for a Wireless LAN Connection Configuring security setti ngs prevents unauth orized access to a c omputer or projector over the wireless LAN. Settings a re configured with the projector ’s System Admin page, whic h can be accessed with a compute r’s web browser .
19 This section explains the pr ocedure for logg ing in to the projector’s S ystem Admin page fr om a computer and configuring wireless LAN connection security settings.
20 4. Click the [Login] button. z This logs in to the Sys tem Admin page and displays the Status screen. Note For security reas ons, be sure to c hange the pa ssword you use to log in to the System Admin page from the default. For more informati on, see “To change the Syste m Admin login passwo rd” (page 33).
21 To configure security settings 1. Perform the procedure under “To log in t o the projector’s Sys tem Admin page” (page 19) to log into System Admin. 2. Click “Setup” to display the System Admin page Setup screen. z Changing only the three settings enclose d in the boxes above is required to config ure security settings.
22 5. Enter the passphrase (or WEP key). z The passphrase or W EP key entered in the “Pas sphrase/WEP Ke y” text box depends on the security protocol you selected in step 4, as described below.
23 The procedures in this section star t from the point that a single proj ector is projecting the Wireless standby screen fo llowing configurati on of security settings. The y also assume that the computer was restarted after setting s were configured.
24 Note z When establishing s imultaneous wirele ss LAN connections between a single projec tor and multiple computers, use the sam e procedure as above fo r the second and subsequent computers. For details about the op eration required to project from ea ch computer after i t is connected, see “Wireles s LAN Connection Operations” (p age 25).
25 Wireless LAN Connection Operations This section explains ope rations you can perf ormed after a wire less LAN connection is est ablished between the projector and a c omputer.
26 Starting and Stopping Projection from a Computer Connected via Wireless LAN Connection Starting 1-scree n Projection On the computer from which you want to start 1- screen projecti on, cl ick the button on the Wireless Connection 3 window. The bu tton will change to and 1-screen proj ection will start from the computer.
27 To project the display contents of four comput ers simultaneously (4-screen projection) 1. Establish a wireless LAN connection between the projector and the first computer, and then click the button. z This will caus e the display contents of the first computer to appear in the upper left corner of the 4-screen projection.
28 Displaying the User Name on the Projection Screen Pressing the projec tor’s remote controlle r’s [ f ] key displays the appl icable computer user na me on the projection scree n. In the case of 4-screen pr ojection, the name is displa yed in the area where the computer screen imag e is being projec ted.
29 Terminating a Wirele ss LAN Connection Use Wireless Connection 3 to terminate a wire less LAN connection betw een the projector and a computer. Click the close button in the upper right corner of the Wirel ess Connection 3 window.
30 Configuring Wireless Settings You can use the projector’s setup menu to configur e the Wireless function settings described below. Note More advanced pr ojector wire le ss LAN connection settings (connect ion setup, se curity settings, etc.
31 3. Use the [ T ] key to move the highl ighting to “Change wireless connection” and then press the [ENTER] key. z This displays a di alog box like the one sho wn below for chang ing the wireless conne ction. z Each of the connection names that appear on the dialog box corresponds to an SSID as shown below.
32 3. Use the [ T ] key to move the hi ghlighting to “Wireless info” and then press the [ENTER] key. z This will display the wireless info dialog box. 4. To close the wireless info di alog box, press the [ESC] key. To initialize the network settings 1.
33 System Admin Page Operations and Settings While the proj ector is connecte d to a computer via wireless LAN, you ca n use the computer’s web browser to access the projector’s System Ad min page. The System Adm in page can be used to configure the projec tor’s wireles s LAN connection settings from your computer.
34 3. Enter the new password twice into th e “New Password” and the “Reinput Password” input boxes. z You can enter up to eight ch aracters as the pa ssword. z Note that you will need the pa ssword you enter here the next ti me you log in to the S ystem Admin page.
35 To configure p rojector’s network settings and w ireless LAN co nnection settings 1. Establish a wireless LAN connection be tween the projector and computer, and log in to the p rojector’s System Adm in screen from the projector. 2. Click “Setup” to display the Syst em Admin page “Setup” screen.
36 Initializing All Syste m Admin Page Settings This operation returns all of the settings on the Syst em Admin page to their in itial factory defaults.
37 System Admin > Setup Settings System Admin Page Settings Setting Name Description IP Setup Obtain an IP address automatically/ Use the following IP address Specifies whether you want to obtain an IP address automatically or specify an IP address manually.
38 System Admin > Change Password Remote on Specifies whether the projector can be turned o n via wired LAN while the projector is in standby (projector off with power being supplied). Enable: Power on enabled. Disable: Power on disabled (initial default).
39 Appendix You can use the Wireless Connection 3 token wizard to inst all Wirele ss Co nnection 3 on USB memory. After you do that, you ca n run Wireless Conne ction 3 on a comput er that does not have th e program installed simply by plug ging the USB me mory (called a “USB To ken”) into the computer’s USB por t.
40 1. On a Wireless Connection 3 window, cli ck the function me nu button and then click [Token Wizard] on the menu that appears. z This displays the toke n wizard. 2. Click [Next>]. z This displays a US B drive selecti on screen. z If there is n o USB memor y co nnected to the computer, the me ssage “USB memory could not be detected.
41 MobiShow is client software by AW IND that make s it possible to s e nd data wirelessly from various types of mobile terminals to the projector for proj ection. MobiShow can be us ed to send photographs and presentation f iles to the projector and project them.
42 4. Click the [Login] button. z This logs in to the System Admin page and displays the Status scre en. From here, perform the procedure under “To c onfigure securi ty settings” (page 21), st arting from step 2.
43 Check the following points whenev er you are ha ving problems with a wireless LA N connection. Wireless LAN Connection betw een the Projector and a Computer Wireless LAN Connection Troubleshooting Problem Cause and Required Action [Reconnect] re mains on the Wireless Connection 3 window and the computer won’t conne ct to the projector.
44 Simultaneous Wireless LAN Connections with Multiple Projectors Problem Cause and Required Action Refer to: Wireless Connection 3 is running on my computer, but the Projector List dialog box won’t display. z Make sure all of the projecto rs are turned on.
45 System Admin Page Performing Wireless Op erations from a Computer Problem Cause and Required Action Refer to: The System Admin page does not appear when I try to access it from Wireless Connection 3. The browser you are using may be co nfigured to use a proxy serve r.
46 Wireless Connection 3 Error Messages System Admin Page Error Messages Note For information about er ror messages tha t appear on the projection sc reen, see the User’s Guide (UsersGuide_English.pdf). Error Messages Error Message Cause and Required Action Could not connect to projector.
