5 About This Manual... This manual explains how to establish a wireless LAN connection between a CASIO XJ-A 135, XJ-A145, XJ-A155, XJ-A245, or XJ-A2 55 Data Projec tor and a computer, and send comput er screen contents to the projector for projection.
6 What the Wireless Function Lets You Do... The projector has a built-in function that lets it operate as a wire less LAN access point. Afte r a wireless LAN connection is establishe d with a computer, the contents of the computer screen c an be sent to the projector fo r projection.
7 Projector Requirements The projector must meet the fo llowing conditio ns in order to use a wireless LAN connec tion to project computer screen contents. The wireless adapter that comes wi th the projector must be installe d correctly o n the projector.
8 Installing Wireless Connection 3 You need to install Wireless Connection 3 on your computer in order to se nd computer screen contents to the projector over a wireless connection f or projection.
9 1. Place the CD-ROM that comes with the pr ojector into your computer’s CD-ROM drive. This will automatica lly display the CD-ROM menu sc reen. 2. On the menu screen, click the [Install] button to the righ t of “Wireless Connection 3”. Follow the instructio ns on the dialog boxes that a ppear on the screen.
10 Establishing a Wireless LA N Connection between the Projector and a Computer This section explains how to establish a wireless LAN co nnection between the projector and a computer under the projecto rs initial default “Wi reless” settings. “Wireless” is one o f the projector’s built-i n applic ations.
11 Wireless is one of the pr ojector’s buil t-in applica tions. It make s it possibl e to establish a wireless LAN connection between the pro jector and a computer , and project the computer ’s display contents. To perform wirel ess projection Press the [INPUT ] key and sele ct “Wireless ” as the input source .
12 Wireless Connecti on 3 is control softwar e for a computer that connects to the projector via wir eless LAN connection. To start up Wireless Connection 3 Perform either of the following oper ations to start up Wireless Connection 3 on the computer.
13 To display Wireless Connection 3 help On a Wireless Connection 3 window , clic k the function menu button and then click [H elp] on the menu that appears. To display Wireless Connecti on 3 version information On a Wireless Connection 3 window , click the function menu bu tton and then click [About] on the menu that appears.
14 To use a default SSID to connec t a computer to the projector via wireless LAN 1. Turn on the projector and wait until th e POWER/STANDBY indicator is lit green. 2. Press the [INPUT] key and select “Wireless” as the input source. This will project the Wi r eless standby screen.
15 6. When everything is the way you want, click [OK]. This establishe s a wireless LAN c onnection between the proj ector and computer, and causes the computer screen co ntents to be projected from the pro jector. The following shows the Wirele ss Connection 3 window that appe ars on the computer screen.
16 Wireless LAN Connection when Us ing Multiple Projectors at the Same Time When using two or more projec tors in the same location (same m eeting room, etc.), each on e is identified by a unique SSID (service set identifier) that lets each computer keep track of which projector it is connected to.
17 Wireless Connection whe n the Computer Finds Mult iple Projectors If the computer finds more than one pr ojector it can connect to in s tep 4 of the procedure under “To use a default SSID to connec t a co mputer to the projec tor via wireless L AN” (page 14), a dialog bo x like the one shown belo w will appear on the computer sc reen.
18 Configuring Security Setti ngs for a Wireless LAN Connection Configuring security setti ngs prevents unauth orized access to a com puter or projector over the wireless LAN. Setti ngs are con figured with the projec tors System Admi n page, which can be a ccessed with a computer’s web bro wser.
19 This section explains the pr ocedure for logging i n to the projector’s Sys tem Admin page from a computer and configuring wireless LAN connection security settings.
20 4. Click the [Login] button. This logs in to the Sys tem Admin page and displays the Status screen. Note For security reas ons, be sure to c hange the pa ssword you use to log in to System Admin page from the default. For mor e information, see “T o change the System Admi n login password” (page 32).
21 To configure security settings 1. Perform the procedure under “To log in t o the projector’s System Ad min page” (page 19) to log into System Admin. 2. Click “Setup” to display the System Admin page Setup screen. Changing only the three settings encl osed in the boxes above are r equired to configur e security settings.
22 5. Enter the passphrase (or WEP key). The passphrase or W EP key entered in the “Pas sphrase/WEP Key” text box depends on the security protocol you selected in step 4, as described below.
23 The procedures in this section star t from the point that a single projec tor is projecting the Wireless standby screen fo llowing configuration o f security settings. They also assume that the computer was restarted after setting s were configured.
24 Note When establishing s imultaneous wirele ss LAN connections between a single pr ojector and multiple computers, use the sam e procedure as above for the s econd and subsequent computers.
25 Wireless LAN Connection Operations This section explains opera tions you can performe d after a wirele ss LAN connection is est ablished between the projector and a c omputer.
26 Starting and Stopping Projection from a Computer Connected via Wireless LAN Connection Starting 1-scree n Projection On the computer from which you want to start 1- screen projecti on, cl ick the button on the Wireless Connection 3 window. The bu tton will change to and 1-screen proj ection will start from the computer.
27 To project the display contents of four comput ers simultaneously (4-screen projection) 1. Establish a wireless LAN connection between the projector and the first computer, and then click the button. This will caus e the display contents of the f irst computer to appear in the uppe r left corner of the 4-screen projection.
28 Displaying the User Name on the Projection Screen Pressing the projec tor’s remote controlle r’s [ f ] key displays the applic able computer user name on the projection scree n. In the case of 4-screen proje ction, the name is displaye d in the area where the computer screen imag e is being projected.
29 Terminating a Wirele ss LAN Connection Use Wireless Connection 3 to terminate a wire less LAN connection betw een the projector and a computer. Click the close button in the upper right corner of the Wireless Connection 3 window.
30 Configuring Wireless Settings You can use the projector’s setup menu to configur e the Wireless function settings described below. Note More advanced pr ojector wirele ss LAN connection settings (connect ion setup, security settings, etc.
31 To initialize the Wireless setup 1. While the Wireless screen is bein g projected, press the [MENU] key. 2. Use the [ ] key to move the highl ighting to “Wireless” and then press the [ENTER] key. 3. Use the [ ] key to move the highl ighting to “Initialize Wireless Setup” and then press the [ENTER] key.
32 System Admin Page Operations and Settings While the proj ector is connected to a computer via wir eless LAN, you can us e the computer’s web browser to access the projector’s System Admi n page. The System Admin page c an be used to configure the projec tor’s wireless LA N connection settings from your computer.
33 3. Enter the new password twice into th e “New Password” and the “Reinput Password” input boxes. You can enter up to eight ch aracters as the pa ssword. Note that you will need the pa ssword you enter here the next ti me you log in to the S ystem Admin page.
34 To configure pro jector network settings and wireless L AN connection s ettings 1. Establish a wireless LAN connection be tween the projector and computer, and log in to the p rojector’s System Admin screen from the projector. 2. Click “Setup” to display the System Admin page Setup screen.
35 Initializing All Syste m Admin Page Settings This operation returns all of the settings on the Syst em Admin page to their in itial factory defaults.
36 System Admin > Setup Settings System Admin Page Settings Setting Name Description IP Setup IP Address Specifies the projector IP address. Initial Default: 192.168.100.10 Subnet Mask Specifies a subnet mask value, whic h specifies the IP address range of the subnet to which the projector belongs.
37 System Admin > Change Password Setting Name Description New Password Reinput password For input of the new password when logging in to the System Admin page.
38 Appendix You can use the Wirele ss Connection 3 token wizard to copy Wire le ss Connection 3 to USB memory. After you do that, you ca n run Wireless Conne ction 3 on a computer that does not have th e program installed simply by plug ging the USB me mory (called a “USB To ken”) into the computer’s USB port.
39 1. On a Wireless Connection 3 window, cli ck the function me nu button and then click [Token Wizard] on the menu that appears. This displays the toke n wizard. 2. Click [Next>]. This displays a US B drive selection sc reen. If there is n o USB memor y co nnected to the computer, the me ssage “USB memory could not be detected.
40 The projectors come wi th wireless adapters YW-3 (either built-in or supplie d separately). You ca n install and remove the wir eless adapter as requi red. Important! Keep the wireless adapte r in a safe place when it is not installed on the projec tor.
41 To remove the wireless ad apter from the project or 1. Turn off the projector an d unplug it s power cord from the power outlet. 2. Loosen the two screws that secure the wireless ad apter cover, and then pull the top of the cover towards you to remove it.
42 Check the following points whenev er you are ha ving problems with a wireless LA N connection. Wireless LAN Connection betw een the Projector and a Computer Wireless LAN Connection Troubleshooting Problem Cause and Required Action [Reconnect] re mains on the Wireless Connection 3 window and the computer won’t conne ct to the projector.
43 Simultaneous Wireless LAN Connections with Multiple Projectors Problem Cause and Required Action Refer to: Wireless Connection 3 is running on my computer, but the Projector List dialog box won’t display. Make sure all of the projecto rs are turned on.
44 System Admin Page Performing Wireless Op erations from a Computer Problem Cause and Required Action Refer to: The System Admin page does not appear when I try to access it from Wireless Connection 3. The browser you are using may be co nfigured to use a proxy serve r.
45 Wireless Connection 3 Error Messages System Admin Page Error Messages Note For information about er ror messages that appe ar on the projection screen, s ee the User’s Guide (UsersGuide_English.pdf). Error Messages Error Message Cause and Required Action Could not connect to projector.
