Before using the Wi-Fi Remote application to remotely control the camcorder , you need to wirelessly connect t he camcorder (with the t ransmitter attached) to a Wi-Fi network via an access point (wireless router). There are th ree ways to do so, and the method you use will depend on the specifications of the ac cess point you want to use.
Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) is the easiest way to set up the Wi-Fi network. However , it may not work correctly if there are several active access points in the area. In such case try using the [WPS: Pin Code] ( A 10) or [Conne ction W izard] ( A 1 1) option.
In this setup mode, the camcorder will issue an 8-digit PIN code that you then need t o enter in the wireless router setup screen. Even if there ar e multiple access points active in your area, this is a relatively reliable method of establishing a connection using a shared PIN code.
When you select [Connection W izard] , the transmitter will detect active Wi-Fi networks in your area and you can select the des ired access point (S SID) from the list . 1 Open th e [Set Up New ] submenu. [ w Other Functions] > [Wi-Fi Re mote] > [S et Up New] 2 Select [Connection W izard] and then press SET .

Connection Wizard Ad Hoc Connections 4 Sele ct the ch anne l and th en pre ss SET . Available channels will be different for Ad Hoc 1 1b/g and 1 1a conn ections. 5 Select the Ad Hoc connection’ s encryption method and the n press SET . If you selected [WEP], continue with step 6 below .
1 Select [Automatic] or [ M anual] and then press SET . If you selected [Automatic], IP settings will be assigned automatically . Continue with the procedure to review and save the configuration ( A 16). 2 Enter the networ k’ s TCP/IP settings manually .
1 Review t he access p oint’ s config uration and then press SET . The first screen shows t he access po int’ s SSID and the type of connection. Push the j oystick up/ down or tur n the SELECT dial to rev iew additional settings before pressing SET .
A user nam e and password are required before the Wi-F i Remote application (Wi-Fi-enabled device connected t o the Wi-Fi network ) can access the t ransmitter in order to operate the camcorder . Additionally , you can set a unique ca mcorder identification code and designate t he port that Wi-F i Remote should use.
