Prepa rations 29 Using t he Viewf inder If it is difficult to use the LCD screen even after tur ning on the LCD backlight, y ou can use the viewfinder . Y ou can also use the viewfinder when you rotate the LCD p anel 180 ° to let the subject watch the reco rd ing .
30 Prepa rati ons Basic Operatio n of the Camcorder Using the T ouch Screen The contro l buttons and menu items that appear on th e touch screen change dynami cally dependi ng on the operat ing mode and the task you are performing. With the intuitive touch screen interface you have all the contr ols at your fingert ips.
Prepa rations 31 Operating Modes Rec ord ing When recording video or photos, the camcorder’ s op erating mode is determi n ed by the pos ition of the mode switch and the ons cree n con- trol buttons. * The mode icon displayed will change according to the optimal mode selected by the Smart AUTO function ( 0 45).

Prepa rations 33 Using the Menus Many of the camcorder’ s functions can be adjusted fr om the FUNC. panel and the setup menus. In mode, howeve r , menus cannot be accessed and, except in a few cases, most menu sett ings wil l retu rn to their default values.

In addit ion to t he 10x optica l zoom, in mode, y ou can turn on the 200x digital zoom with the 7 8 [Digital Zoom] setting.

76 Video Manual Exposure Adjustment At times, bac klit subjec ts may appear too dark (under exposed) or sub- jects under ve ry strong lights m ay appear too bright or glaring (overex- posed).
