4 Intr oduction Thank y ou for y our purchase of the Canon Card Photo Pr inter CP-100. This User Guide explains the printer ’ s general flow of oper ations, from print settings to printing. For inf or mation about how to mak e pr ints, ref er to the Camera User Guide that came with your camer a.
5 Connects directly to supporting Canon cameras Allows easy printing from any Canon camer a that suppor ts direct pr inting. Just connect the interf ace cable and y ou ’ re ready to go . Three paper sizes Y ou can print on standard paper in postcard size, L siz e or credit-card size.

8 Safety Precautions • Bef ore using the devices , please ensure that you ha ve read and understood the safety precautions described belo w . Alwa ys ensure that the de vices are operated correctly .
9 P ower Do not e xceed the cable and pow er outlet ratings when operating this product. Do not operate this product outside of the specified v oltage rating. Connecting too many lines to the same outlet ma y result in fire. Check that the v oltage of the outlet is compatib le with the devices bef ore them in.
10 Do not remov e the paper cassette from the pr inter while printing is in progress. P aper mov es back and f or th in the cassette four times during printing. Placing your hand in the wa y of moving paper may result in injury . Wait f or pr inting to finish completely before remo ving the cassette.
11 Pr oper Usage and Handling Usage Location • Do not use near strong magnets or near de vices that produce strong electromagnetic fields. Electromagnetic radiation from de vices such as TVs and game machines, and strong magnetic fields from de vices such as speakers and large motors, ma y cause distor tion in printed images.
12 Cleaning the Printer • Nev er use benzene, paint thinner , or other v olatile solvents to clean the printer . V olatile solvents ma y cause deformation or peeling of the pr inter ’ s casing. T o clean the printer , wipe it with a soft dr y cloth.
13 • Y ou may write on the back of the paper with an oil-based pen, b ut to av oid smudging please allow ink time to dry before touching it. • Do not ov erload the paper cassette. Do not inser t more than 18 sheets in the paper cassette. Overloading the cassette may damage the printer .
14 • Do not store prints in hot, humid, or dusty locations or where exposed to direct sunlight. • Color change ma y occur over time in accordance with conditions of storage .
15 Components Guide Paper Cassette Compartment Cover P aper Cassette Slot The paper cassette loads into this slot. Ink Cassette Compartment Cover Ink Cassette Slot The ink cassette loads into this compartment. DIGIT AL T erminal For direct connection to a camer a using the direct interf ace cable.
16 Let’ s Print Checking Y our Ink/P aper Sets When printing with the Canon Card Photo Pr inter CP-100, please mak e sure you are using the right ink cassette, paper cassette and paper .
17 Y ou can use the following Color Ink/P aper Set (optional) with the Canon Car d Photo Printer CP-100. • Color Ink/P aper Set KP-36IP (P ostcard size, 36 standard sheets) • Color Ink/P aper Set .
18 Loading the Ink Cassette 1 Open the ink cassette compar tment co ver . 2 Remove an y slack fr om the ink sheet. • Push in on the blue circle on the cassette, and turn it in the indicated direction to take up the slack.
19 1 Place the paper into the paper cassette, with the printable side (glossy side) facing up. • T o open the paper cassette: Open the top cover , then push the middle cover in the direction of the arr ow and lift it up. • Insert the postcard size paper with the glossy side up and the address/stamp side last.
20 Loading the P aper Cassette 1 Open the paper cassette compar tment co ver . 2 Push the paper cassette all the way into the paper cassette slot. • Be sure the paper is set corr ectly before pushing the cassette in. • Insert the paper cassette evenly so that it slides over the bottom of the slot entrance.
21 Connecting the Printer to a P ower Sour ce 1 Place the printer on a flat area. • Be sure to leave about 10 cm (4 in.) of clearance around the paper -handling slot (at the rear) so that paper has sufficient r oom to jut out from the slot during printing.
22 Connecting the Camera to the Printer Connect the camera to the printer using the direct interf ace cable and turn the printer ’ s power on. For more details on the direct interf ace cable or about camera connection instructions, ref er to your Camera User Guide .
23 Printing This section e xplains the flow of printing operations. F or more details, ref er to your Camera User Guide . 1 Set the camera to repla y mode and turn the power on. • Check that (Dir ect Print mark) is displayed in the upper left corner of the LCD monitor .
24 Using the Battery/Char ge Adapter Kit BCA-CP100 (Optional) K eep the batter y pack, charge adapter and ter minals clean at all times . Dir ty terminals may cause a poor contact between the battery pack and printer . P olish the terminals with a tissue or a dr y cloth before charging or using the battery pack.
25 • The battery cannot be charged when connected to the pr inter . Please use the charge adapter to charge the battery pack. • This is a lithium ion battery pack so there is no need to completely use or discharge it bef ore recharging. It can be charged at any charge state.
26 Installing the Battery P ack NB-CP1L 1 T urn the printer ’ s power off and detach the compact po wer adapter cable. 2 Press the battery cover le ver down and remo ve the battery cover . 3 Slide the battery pack into place, in the direction of the arro w .
27 • The printer consumes the batter y charge when the power is on e ven when a function is not being used. T o conser v e the batter y charge, be par ticularly attentive in turning the pow er off. • Although the battery pack ’ s maximum operating range is 5 to 40 ˚ C (41 to 104 ˚ F), the optimal r ange is 10 to 30 ˚ C (50 to 86 ˚ F).
28 Using the Car Batter y Adapter CBA-CP100 (Optional) Car Battery Adapter CBA-CP100 (optional) can be used to power the printer from a car ’ s cigarette lighter sock et. Please ref er to the Car Batter y Adapter User Guide f or advice about proper handling.
29 The printer has no power . The printer ’ s indicator is flashing red. The (Direct Print mark) does not display in the upper left corner of the LCD monitor . The printer does not print. Printing stopped midway . The compact power adapter or AC cable is not correctly connected.
30 The printer ’ s indicator glows red without the camera ’ s LCD monitor displaying any error message. Print quality is not good. Faint stripes appear in the print. Printed images are distorted. Nothing happens when the camera ’ s SET button is pressed.
31 No Paper No Ink Incompatible paper size Incompatible ink size Ink Cassette Error Paper and ink do not match Paper cassette is incorrectly installed. Paper is not loaded correctly in the paper cassette. No paper in the paper cassette. Paper is not feeding correctly .
32 Paper Jam Paper has been changed. Recharge the printer battery Communication Error Cannot Print! Paper jammed during printing. Paper was changed after the print menu was displayed. The printer ’ s battery pack is depleted. Error in communication between printer and camera.
33 Error Message Cause Correction Could not print xx images Y ou have selected a number of images for DPOF printing, but some of these images cannot be printed because they were taken with a differ ent camera, recorded in a differ ent format, or have been altered by a computer .
