4 Indicators The camera indicators will light or blink under the following conditions. z Upper Indica tor z Lower I ndica tor Never do the following while the indicator blinks green.
5 Preparat ions 1. Installing the batteries . 1. Slide the memory card slot/battery cover lock ( a ) and open the cover ( b ). 2. Insert the 2 suppl ied AA-s ize al kaline batte ries, o r separately sold AA-size NiMH batteries. 2. Inserting the m emory card.
6 To Remove the Memory Card Push the memory card with your finger until the memory card clicks and then release it. You can use SD mem ory cards, SDH C memory ca rds and MultiMediaCards with th is camera. These car ds are collectively called memory cards in this guide.
7 Preparat ions Turning the Power On/Of f Turning the Camera On/Off in Shooting Mode 1. Press the power button. The indic ators blink wh ile the camera turn s on. 2. Pressing the power button again turns the power off. Turning the Camera On/Off in Playback Mode 1.
8 First Time Settings Setting the Date/Time 1. Press the power butt on ( a ). 2. U se the or button to select an item and the or button to cha nge its val ue ( b ). 3. C onfirm that the correct time is disp layed and press th e FUNC ./SET bu tton ( c ).
9 Shooting 1. Press the pow er button. The start-up sound will play and the start-up image will display on the LCD monitor. • Pressing the pow er button while pressing and holding the DISP. button will turn on the mute s etting which will mute all s ounds except for warning sounds.
10 4. Focus an d shoot. 1. Press th e shutter butto n halfway to focus. When the camera focuses automatically , the camera beeps twice and the indi cator lights green (orange when using the flash). Also, the AF frame appears in green on the LCD monitor at t he point where the camera is focused.
11 Shooting Selecting a Shooting Mode 1. Set the shooting mode dial to the desired mode ( a ). 13 Shooting Using the Zoom 1. Press the zoom lever toward or . The zoom can be adjusted from 35 – 140 mm (focal length) in 35mm film equivalent terms.

Red-eye re duction: This featur e reduces the effe ct of light re flecting back from the eyes and m aking them appea r red.

16 Using the Self-Timer 1. Press the butt on to cycle th rough self-ti mer settings. • When the shutter button i s pressed fully , the self-timer lamp will blink. When setting the red-eye reduction function, t he self-timer lamp will blink and then stay lit for t he last 2.

23 Downloading Images t o a Computer The following methods can be used to download images recorded by the camera to a computer. Some methods, depending on the OS used, may not be available.
