The batteries are necessar y to keep the time cloc k and memories if the power cord is remov ed from the r adio f or more than three minutes.

Pag e 1 4 The WEA THER ALERT modes on the CCRadio plus can aler t you to special weather related emergencies. Dur ing an emergency or weather related hazard, NOAA issues an emergency tone that will set off an audible and/or visual alarm on the radio .
This is WEA THER ALERT mode with flashing light only (no Alar m). If NOAA issues a weather related emergency , the radio will automatically aler t you with a small flashing light near the top of the radio . The Aler t light continues to flash until any b utton is pushed.
L OCK S WITCH The Lock s witch can be used when tr anspor ting the radio to pre v ent accidentally turning it on. When the s witch is pushed up you will see the Lock symbol appear on the displa y . It can also be used to disable all functions of the radio when it is turned on.

TIMER A CTIV A TION SWITCH The blac k jac k labeled with this symbol is f or use with a recorder that has a timer activated s witch. Y ou would use this switch if y ou wanted to do a timed recording.
Pag e 1 9 The timer will go ON and OFF at the same time and same station every day until y ou turn the timer off or repr ogram it. T O T URN O FF T HE T IMER If TIMER is showing on the displa y then the Timer is set. Press and hold the Timer/Set Button until y ou hear a shor t beep and the word TIMER disappears from the displa y .

The blac k base of the light opens up to re v eal a handle that is used to reel the cord back in. The base is also a magnet, so you can mount it to any metal surf ace lik e a refrigerator or a car .
P age 21 NiCad batteries are a great financial and ecological inv estment if y ou know ho w to use them. • New NiCad batteries require a f ew charging and discharging cycles to come up to full power . First, charge the batter ies. Next, allo w them to drain b y running them in the CCRadio plus until it shuts off and no sound is heard.
