WARNING You must follow these warnings to prevent possible personal injury. You must follow these instructions to make sure you use the printer properly and do not damage it.
ii HL7050_US_UG_FM5.5 To use the printer safely WARNING There are high voltage electrodes in side the printer. Before you clean the printer, clear a paper jam or replace parts, make sure you have turned off the power switch and unplugged the printer from the AC power outlet.
iii HL7050_US_UG_FM5.5 WARNING To prevent injuries, at least two people should lift the printer, holding the handles on both the right and left sides of the printer, and the front of the printer as shown in the illustration below. WARNING Do not stand on the printer or the optional Stabilizer unit.

Typically, this format is a printer comm and language or page description language.

DRIVER AND SOFTWARE 2 - 8 HL7050_US_UG_FM5.5 Status Monitor This reports the page number and prin ter status (any errors that occur on the printer) during printing. If you do not need the Printer Status and would like to speed up your job, set the Printer Status to OFF.

DRIVER AND SOFTWARE 2 - 18 HL7050_US_UG_FM5.5 Web BRAdmin The Web BRAdmin software is de signed to manage all LAN/WAN Brother network connected devices. By installing the Web BRAdmin server software on a computer ru nning IIS*, Administrators with a Web browser can connect to the Web BRAdmin server, which then communicates with the device itself.

2 - 21 DRIVER AND SOFTWARE HL7050_US_UG_FM5.5 Automatic Emulation Selection This printer has an Automatic Emul ation Selection feature. When the printer receives data fr om the computer, it automatically chooses the emulation mode. This feature has been set at the factory to ON.
DRIVER AND SOFTWARE 2 - 22 HL7050_US_UG_FM5.5 Automatic Interface Selection This printer has an Automatic Interface Selection feature. When the printer receives data from the com puter, it automatically selects the interface that is appropriate.
2 - 23 DRIVER AND SOFTWARE HL7050_US_UG_FM5.5 If you constantly use only one in terface, we recommend that you select that interface as the default setting in the INTERFACE menu. The printer allocates the entire input buffer to that interface when only one interface is selected.
DRIVER AND SOFTWARE 2 - 24 HL7050_US_UG_FM5.5 Printer settings Factory settings The printer settings have been preset at the factory and they are called "Factory settings." Although you can use the printer without changing these factory settings, you can tailor the printer to your particular needs by changing the 'user settings.

CONTROL PANEL 3 - 2 HL7050_US_UG_FM5.5 Buttons You can control the basic prin ter operations and change various printer settings with seven buttons ( Go , Job Cancel , Reprint , + , - , Set , Back ). Button Operation Go Exit from the control panel menu, reprint settings and error messages.
3 - 3 CONTROL PANEL HL7050_US_UG_FM5.5 Go button You can change the panel indications from the current status (Menu, Error and Reprint settings) by pressing the Go button once. For ERROR indications, the control panel only changes when the error is cleared.
CONTROL PANEL 3 - 4 HL7050_US_UG_FM5.5 Job Cancel button You can cancel the processing or printing of data with the Job Cancel button. The display shows JOB CANCELLI NG until th e job is canc elled. After cancelling the job, the prin ter returns to the RE ADY state.
3 - 5 CONTROL PANEL HL7050_US_UG_FM5.5 Reprint button If you want to reprint a document t hat has just been printed, you can reprint it by pressing the Reprint button. Also, if you have created a document that you wish to share with colleagues, simply spool the document to a non-secure area of the printer.
CONTROL PANEL 3 - 6 HL7050_US_UG_FM5.5 Reprinting the last job You can reprint the data from the last print job without sending it from the computer again. ■ If REPRINT function is set to OFF on the control panel and you press the Reprint button, the LCD shows NO DATA STORED for a short time.
3 - 7 CONTROL PANEL HL7050_US_UG_FM5.5 Reprint the last job three times 1 Turn the REPRINT function ON by using the control panel buttons to go to the SETUP menu.
CONTROL PANEL 3 - 8 HL7050_US_UG_FM5.5 Printing PROOF data You can use this function to repr int PROOF data that has just been printed and has no security settings. Documents that are placed in the PROOF area are available to anyone. You might use this function for a document that will be mo ved to a public folder at a later date.

OPTIONS 4 - 3 HL7050_US_UG_FM5.5 Lower-tray unit (LT-7000) The lower-tray unit (Trays 2/3/4) is an optional device that can hold extra paper. It can hold up to 500 sheets of paper (80 g/m 2 or 20 lb) in each tray. When all three trays ar e installed, the printer can hold up to 2100 sheets of plain paper.
4 - 4 OPTIONS HL7050_US_UG_FM5.5 Duplex unit (DX-7000) The Duplex unit is an optional device that allo ws you to print on both sides of a piece of paper. When it is installed, you can select either duplex printing or simplex printing on the control p anel or with a software command.

OPTIONS 4 - 13 HL7050_US_UG_FM5.5 RAM expansion The HL-7050 and HL-7050N printer have 32 MB of standard memory and two slots for optional memory expansion. You can expand the memory up to 288 MB by installi ng dual in-line memory modules (DIMMs). (The standard memory varies depending on the printer model and country.

5 - 6 ROUTINE MAINTENANCE HL7050_US_UG_FM5.5 Drum unit CHANGE DRUM SOON message The printer uses a drum unit to cr eate the print images on paper. If the LCD shows CHANGE DRUM SOON, it means the drum unit is near the end of its life.

5 - 12 ROUTINE MAINTENANCE HL7050_US_UG_FM5.5 Cleaning Clean the outside and inside of the printer with a dry soft cloth. When you replace the drum unit, make sure you clean the inside of the printer. If printed pages ar e stained with toner, clean the inside of the printer with a dry soft cloth.
