11 MOUNT WATER HEATE R ON T HE W ALL Determine the proper height and location for the water heater to be installe d. Consider the venting system, as well as the water and gas connections. Allow enough room for servi cing the water heater and maintain the clearances f rom combusti ble materials.

18 Recommended Piping for Po wer Failure Freeze Protection As long as electrical power a nd gas are su pplied to the EverHot water h eater, freeze protection is provided to the heat exchanger and pipi ng inside the wate r heater with ambient temperatures as col d as -30 F (-34 C), when protected from direct wi nd exposure.
19 PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE Keep clear of the pressure reli ef valve di scharge li ne outlet. The discharge may be hot enough to cause scald injury. The water is unde r pressure and may splash.
20 Combination Water and Space Heating Applications – Commercial Use Water Heaters Only Commercial use water h eaters may be used for space heatin g or combination space heating/potable water heating applications, provided the followin g requirements and re commended piping di agrams are carefully followed.
21 Note: in Massachusetts, the following must be done: Tempered potable water m ust meet temperatures in 248 CM R. All water piping must be insulated in accordance with 780 CMR (Massachu setts energy code). 50 feet maximum distance from water heater to space heating lo ad (developed length).
22 SECTION V: VENTING WARNING The venting system must be properly installed. F a ilure to properly install the vent system could result in property damage, personal injury, or death.
23 VENTING The venting instructions must be followed to avoid re stri cted combustion or recirculation of flue gases. Such conditions cause sooting or risks o f fire and asphyxiation.
24 Vent / Air Intake Terminal Locations Direct Vent Terminal Location Plan the vent system layout so that proper cl earances are maintai ned from plumbing and wiring. Before the vent is installed, determine the vent pipe termin at ion location as shown below in the Vent Termi nal Location illustration.
25 Vent pipes serving power vented appliances are clas sified by building cod es as “vent connectors.” Required c learanc es from comb ustible mater ials must be provided in accordance with information in this manual under Location of Wate r Heater and Clearan ces, as well as the National Fuel Gas Code an d local codes.
26 Prior to the Installation of the Ev erHot Direct Vent System The EverHot TG series wa ter heaters have two adj ustable wall mounting supp ort brackets fitted on the top and bottom of the water heater casing.

28 Vertical Direct Vent Installations The EverHot TG series water heaters can also be install ed to vent vertically throug h the roof using a vertical discharge a dapter, optional vent extension tu bes, the condensate collector, a roof terminal, and a universal lead tile.
29 Combustion Blower Dip Switch Settings To assure optimum efficiency and red uced noise levels , the combustion blower switch ha s two dip switch settings. Dip switch numb er 1, the top dip switch, is shipped from the factory set to the ON po sition to compensate for the maximum vent/air intake length.
30 Installation of Venting System Components WARNING Refer to the Bradford White EverHot TG series water heater Inst allation and Operation Instruction Manual for details conce rning vent system terminat ion po sitions/clearances, allowable ve nt pipe lengths, and in what position dip switch n umber 1 should be placed.

46 SECTION VI: GAS CONNECTIONS WARNING Connect this water heater only to the ty pe of gas as shown on the rating plate. Use clea n black iron pipe or equivalent material approved by local codes and ordinances. Dirt and scale from th e pipe can enter the gas valve a nd cause it to malfunctio n.
47 Check the type of ga s and the gas inl et pressure be fore connecting the EverHot ® water heater to the gas supply. If the gas su pply type does not match the type shown on the water heater rating pl ate, then DO NOT connect the water he ater. Contact your Bradford White supplier for the correct water heater.
48 INITIAL OPERATION AN D TESTING (INSTALLER ONLY ) 1. Open the gas and water supply valves to the water heater. 2. Check for water and gas le aks. Use soap solution to che ck for gas leaks.
49 SECTION VII: ELEC TRICAL CONNECTIONS WARNING Turn off or disconnect the electrical power supply to the water heater before servicing. L abel all wires prior to disconn ection when se rvicing controls. Wiring erro rs can cause imp roper and dangerous operation.

53 TEMPERATURE CONTROLS The front panel temperature control allows th e end user to set the hot wate r supply temperature and will display certain diagnostic cod es of the water heater if there is a malfunction.
54 WARNING Do not adjust this water h eater in any residential application abov e 120ºF. If this water heater is used in a commercial application where temperatures in excess of 120ºF are required, use an ASSE approved mixing device. WARNING This water heater is equipped with an energy cut out device to prevent overheating.

Check the operation of the remote tempe rature control(s). Check the operati on of the power failure protection system (drain sol enoids).

59 With the power off, you can check th e continuity through the surge protector. Pl ace a meter lead on the top pin #1 of the surge protector and pin #3 on the b otto m of the surge protector. Check across the top pin #3 and the bottom pin #1. If you read continuity acro ss these two points, the surge p rotector is good.
60 SECTION VIII: OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS WARNING Water heaters are he at-producing app liances. To avoid dam age or injury there must be no materials stored against th e water heater o r direct vent sy stem, and proper care must be taken to avoid unnecessary contact (especially by children ) with the water heater a nd direct vent system.
61 LIGHTING INSTRUCTIONS FOR YOUR SAFETY READ BEFO RE OPERATIN G WARNING: If you do not follo w these instructions exactly, a fire or explosion may result causing property damage, personal injury or loss of life. A. This water heater does not have a pilot.
62 CAUTION In climates where below freezing tempe ratures may occur, the water h eater must be drained when power is off to the water heater to prev ent free ze damage to the heat exchanger. Drain sol enoids are recommended to prevent freeze damage during p ower failures in cold climate regions.
63 2. To set the de sired temperature on the control, all hot water faucets must be closed. If there are remote controls installed, press the “Priority” button on the cont rol you want to change the setting on and the “Priority” indicator light will glow.
64 SCALDING Figure 49. Scalding Warning. This water heater can deliver scalding temperature water at any faucet in the system. Be careful whenever using hot w ater to avoid scalding injury. Cer tain applianc es, such as dishwas hers and automatic clothes washers may require increased wate r temperature.
65 FIRST AID FOR SCALDS 1. Apply cold water to burned area for 30 minutes to re duce the heat in the skin a nd prevent deeper burning. Never use butter, oils, or ointm ent to cover the burn. They may retain the heat. 2. Use a blanket to keep the scalded perso n warm.
66 Code Code Description Remedy 12 Flame Failure Check that the gas is turned on at the water heater and gas meter. Check for obstructions in the flue outlet. Ensure gas line, meter, and/or regulator is sized pro perly. Ensure gas type and pressure is correct.
67 Code Code Description Remedy 72 Flame Sensing Device Fault Ensure flame rod is touching flame when unit fires. Check all wiring to flame rod for damage. Remove flame rod and check for carbon b uild-up; clean with sand paper. Check inside burner chamber for any foreign material blocking flame at fla me rod.
68 SECTION IX: MAINTENANCE WARNING Always turn off the electrical power supply, the manual ga s valve, and the manual wate r control valve whenever servicing this applian ce. KEEP THE WATER HEATER AREA CLEAR AND FREE FROM COMBUSTIBLE MATERIALS, GASOLINE, AND OTHER FLAMMABLE VAPORS AND LIQUIDS.
69 CAUTION Before manually operating the valve, make su re t hat a drain line has been attached to the valve to direct the discharge to a n open drain. Failure to take this precaution could mean contact with extremely hot water passing out the valve during this checking operation.

71 Common Troubleshooting Commen ts on the Operation of the EverHot ® Tankless Water Heater Comment: I don’t have any hot water when I open the tap! Make sure the gas and electricity is turned on to t he water heater. The temperature display should have the green light lit when a hot wate r tap is open and th e water heater is operating.
