Liquefied petroleum gases/propane gas is heavier than air and will remain at floor level if there is a leak. Basements, crawl spaces, closets and ar eas below ground level will serve as pockets fo r accumulation of leaking gas. Before lighting, sm ell all around the appliance ar ea for gas.

8 SECTION III: GENERAL INFORMATION FEATURES The Bradford White EVERHOT ® IGE series tankl ess water heater is a hi gh output, high efficien cy appliance, which heat s the water conti nuously as hot water is being drawn for u se. Unlike tank type storage water heaters, this water heat er doe s not store hot water.

SECTION V: WA TER CONNECTIONS WARNING Failure to install and maintain a new, listed pressu re relief valve will release the manufacture r from any claim, which might result from ex cessive temperatu re and pressures. Keep clear of the pressure relie f valve discharge line outlet.
13 2. In order to service the water heater in the event the heat exchanger nee ds to b e flushed from lime deposits, tee fittings with shut off valves and servi ce connections to hoses should be installed. Also install a shut off valve to the hot water suppl y to isolate the service tee fittings.

Recommended Piping for Po wer Failure Freeze Protection As long as electrical power and gas are supplied to the EVERHOT ® water heater, free ze protection is provided to the heat excha nger and piping inside th e wate r heater with ambient temperatures as cold as - 30 ° F (-34 ° C), when protected fro m direct wind exposure.

SECTION VI: GAS CONNECTIONS WARNING Connect this water heater only to the type of gas as sh own on the rating plate. Use clean black iron pipe or equivalent material app roved by local codes and ordin ances. (Dirt and scale from the pi pe can enter the gas valve and cause it to malfun ction).
GAS METER SIZE –NATURALGAS ONLY Be sure that the gas meter has sufficient capacity to supply the full rated gas in put of the water heater as well as the requirements of all other gas fired equi pment supplied by the meter. If the gas meter is too small, ask the gas company to install a larger mete r h aving adequate capacity.

SECTION VII: ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS WARNING Turn off or disconnect the electri cal power supply to the water hea ter before servicing. Label all wires prior to disconnection when servicing controls. Wirin g errors can cause improper an d dangerous operation.

REMOTE TEMPERATURE CONT ROLS The supplied Remote Main Control all ows the custom er to cont rol the hot water supply temperature and will display certain fault codes i n the event the water heater needs servicing.
Bath or Main Control for Residential Models (Fig. 6) Temperature Control(s) Installation: 1. Determine how many controls will be installed and sui t able locatio n(s) for each. The controls may be wired in series or parallel depending on the di stance from the water heate r to the controls.
WARNING Do not attempt to connect the remote controls with the p ower on to the water heater. There are 120 vol t terminals and wiring next t o the remote control connecti ons inside t he unit. All servicing and wiring must be performed by a certified installer.
Main Control for Commercial Models (Fig. 7) Remote Main Control Installation: Follow the same control installation pro cedure as ou tlined unde r “Temperature Control In stallation” for residential models. The only exception is that onl y one remote temperature co ntrol can be installed.
SECTION VIII: OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS WARNING Water heaters are heat-p roducing appliances. To av oid damage or injury there must be n o materials stored against the water heater or near the front vent outlet, an d proper care must be taken to avoi d unnecessary contact (especially by children) with the water heat er and front vent outlet.
LIGHTING INSTRUCTIONS FOR YOUR SAFETY READ BEFO RE OPERATIN G WARNING: If you do not follo w these instructions exactly, a fire or explosion may result causing property damage, personal injury or loss of life. A. This appliance does not have a pilot. It is equipped with a direct ignition device, which automatically lights the burner.
31 CAUTION In climates where below freezing tempe ratures may occur, the water heater must be d rained when power is off to the water heater to prev ent free ze damage to the heat exchanger. Drain sol enoids are recommended to prevent freeze damage during p ower failures in cold climate regions.
2. To set the desired temperature on the rem ote control, all hot water faucets must be closed. If there are Bath Control s installed, press the “Pri ority” button on the control you want to change t he setting on and the yellow “Priority” indicator light will glow.
6. Pressing the “Maintenance Bu tton” followed by the “H” button w ill display a seq uence of error codes, if any, stored in memory that has been experience.
SCALDING CAUTION Test the temperature of the water with your hand or elbow before placing a chi ld in the bath or sho wer. Do not leave a child or an infirm person in the bath unsupervised. This water heater can deliver scalding temperature water at any faucet in the system.
ERROR MESSAGES ON REMOTE TE MPERATURE CONT ROL DISPLAY The Bradford White EVERHOT ® tankle ss water heaters have the ability to monitor and di splay any operating faults on the remote tem perature control display. The er ror messag es will displ ay on the monitor and will assist in servicing the water heate r.
SECTION IX: MAINTENANCE WARNING Always turn off the electrical power supply, the manual gas valve, and the manual water control valve whenever servicing this ap pliance.
Burner Flame Appearance (Fig 10) WARNING Before manually operating the valve, make sure that a drain line has been attached to the valve to direct the discharge to an open drain. Failure to take this precaution could mean contact with extremely hot water passing out the valve during this che cking operation.
38 10. Close the drain valve on the cold water inlet. Leave hot wate r drain valve open. Open col d water inlet to flush with fresh water. 11. Allow water to flow out of the hose for 5 minutes to flush vineg ar fro m the water heater. 12. Shut off cold water inlet valve.
