1 INTR ODUCTION The Boxlight ® XD-9m is specifically designed for the mobile pre- senter . It packs XGA 1024x768 g raphics wi th 16.7 mi llion col ors into a small, 4.

5 SETTING UP THE PR OJECTOR 1 Place the pr ojector on a flat s urface. • The pr ojector must be within 10 feet (3 m) o f your power source a nd within 6 feet (1.8 m) o f your computer . • If you want to project fr om behind a translucent screen, set up the pr ojector behind your scr een.
6 Setti ng up the Pr ojector NO TE : Before you continue, mak e sure the p rojec tor is unplugged and your equipment is turned off. If you’ re connecting a computer , mak e sure the distance betw een it and the projector is 6 feet o r less.
7 Connecting a Computer The pr ojector ships with an M1-DA analog computer cable . If your computer ha s a digital ou tput, you can or der the optional M1-DA digita l computer cable. See “Optional Accessories” o n page 39. 1 Plug the end of the M1-DA a nalog computer cable into the connector on the pro jector .

NO TE : The USB mouse is suppor ted for use with Windows 98, Windo ws 2000, and Apple OS 8.5 and higher only . 1 Plug the end of the M1-DA an alog computer cable into the mouse connector on your computer .
9 Connec ting a Video Pla y er 1 If your video player uses a round, one-pr ong composit e video connector, you’ ll need onl y the audi o cable , audio adapter , and composite video cable that shipped with the pr o j ector. NO TE : HDTV so urce s ar e con- nected to the pr ojector using the M1-DA computer cable .

12 Setti ng up the Pr ojector T urning Off the Pr ojector If you want to turn off the pr ojector for a short period of time, press the stand b y button on the key pa d or remote. This blanks the scr een for fifteen minutes, but keeps the pr ojector running.
13 USING THE PR OJECTOR This section d escribes how to use and m ake adjustments to the pro jector . It also pr ovides a r eferen ce to the keypad and r emote buttons and the opti ons available from the on-screen menus. Basic Imag e Ad j ustment 1 Make sure you have powered up your equipment in the right order (pag e 1 1 ).

15 Adjusting the Pr ojector T o focus the im a ge, rotate the focus ring (Figure 10) until the imag e is clear . T o zoom the image, rotat e the zoom ring.

17 Standb y When you press standb y , the display a nd audio turn of f and a blank screen is displayed for 15 minutes. Y ou can change the amount of time the pr ojector stays in standby mode; see “Sta ndby T im e ” on pa ge 24 for d etails.
18 Usin g the Project or Using the On-Scr een Men u s The pr ojector has six drop-down m enus that allow you to make imag e adjustme nts and chan ge a variet y of settings. Most of these adjust ments aren’t a vailable di r ectly from the ke ypad. NO TE : Some menu items may be gr ayed out at cer tain times .

30 Mainte nance & T r oubles hoot ing WA RN I N G : Be extremely careful when remo ving the lamp module . In the unlik ely event that the bulb ruptures , small glass fragments may be gener ated. The lamp module is designed to contain these fragments, but use cautio n when remo ving the lamp module .

32 Mainte nance & T r oubles hoot ing Replacing the Batteries i n the Remote Contr ol The life of the batteries depe nds on how often a nd how long you use the r emote. Symptom s of low battery charge include erratic r esponses when using the r emote and a reduce d range of opera- tion.
33 T roubles hooting Problem: Noth ing on projection scr een • Make sure that the power cord is properly connected to a fully functional A C electrical outlet. Make sure that the power co r d is also properly connected to the projector . • If the pr ojector is plugged into a power strip, make sure the power strip is turned on.
34 Mainte nance & T r oubles hoot ing • Y ou migh t need to turn everything off and power up the equipment again in the pr oper orde r . Refer to your com- puter ’s docum entation to determine the correct or der . • Make sur e your laptop’s external video port is turned on.
35 Pr oblem: Ima g e is out of focus • T urn the projection lens to focus the ima ge. • Make sur e th e proj ection screen is at least 5 feet (1 .5 m) fr om the pr ojector . • Check the pr ojection lens to see if it needs cleaning. Pr oblem: Imag e a n d menus ar e re v ersed left to right • Rear pr ojection mode is pr obably turned on.
