1 I NTRODUCTION The 3Com E therLink III P arallel T asking adapters are a family of third-generation Ethernet adapters . This family includes the 32-bit bus master P eripheral Component Interconnect (PCI)10 Mbps Ethernet network adapt er , which conforms to the PCI 2.

3-2 C HAPTER 3: I NSTALLING THE N ETWORK D RIVERS Acc essing DOS The 3Com pr ogram is a DOS-based program that loads network drivers , modifies some adapter parameters, and runs diagnostic tests on the adapter . If you are using an operating inter face other than DOS, such as OS/2 or Windows 3.

Desktop Management Interface 3-13 These driver agents permit remot e management of PCs and the 3C590 PCI adapter through use of 3C om ’ s T ranscend network management application software , such as T ranscend W orkGroup Manager for Windows, or through any other SNMP manager system.

A S OFTWARE O PTION S ETTINGS When you insert one or more 3C590 PCI adapters in a PCI-compliant PC, the adapter is automatically configured . The PCI automatic configuration utility sets the I/O P or t Address and Int errupt Request Level paramet ers.
