5 About these instructions Safety instructions Safety instructions Please read the f ollowing saf ety instructions and warnings carefully bef ore using the Lucca f or the fi rst time. Safety instructions for handling the Lucca Caution: The Lucca must no t be exposed t o water or damp as it is neither wat er nor splash proof.
6 Using the Lucca for the fi rst time When turning on the Lucca f or the fi rst time, you will be prom pt ed to select y our preferr ed language. (Please read the section “Selecting your language” below .) Once you have select ed your language, you will have to w ait a couple of minutes bef ore being able to start navigating.
7 Charging the battery The rechargeable batt er y enables the Lucca to be operat ed without requiring an ext ernal source of pow er . The battery must be fully charged (b y recharging it f or approx. 5 t o 6 hours) to ac hieve the maximum battery r un time of up to 3 hours.
8 Connecting the Lucca to the suction cup holder The suction cup holder is equipped with a guide for attaching t he Lucca. Carefully engage the guide on t he Lucca with the bar on the suction cup holder . A A Removing the Lucca Carefully pull the L ucca up and of f the suction cup holder .
9 The MENU button The MENU button can be used t o open the Quick Settings (pr ess briefl y) or t o go back to t he Main Menu (press for mor e than 3 seconds), from where t he Navigation, Music Player or Pictur e V iewer applications can be star ted. Quick Settings The Quick Se ttings menu can be used to adjust the volume and brightness.
10 Using the navigation menus Onscreen k eyboard The Lucca f eatures a soft (onscreen) ke yboard that will be sho wn on the touc h screen when requir ed to enter t ext. Using your fi ngers, tap the relevant k eys on this ke yboard t o enter t ext or data.
11 Information on GPSs Y ou can view the GPS’s status in t he GPS Info menu. This menu can furthermore be used to vie w GPS-derived inf ormation, such as your current position and speed. The GPS Inf o menu can be opened in the Navigation menu. View GPS info Press the Navigation butt on in the main menu.

13 Please read the chap ter “Basic se ttings” for more inf ormation. Viewing GPS info Press the GPS inf o button t o view GPS information. Please read the chap ter “GPS” f or more information on this. Close menu Press the Back butt on in the Navigation menu t o return t o the main menu.
14 Entering a destination Lucca will alwa ys guide you through t he destination entering pr ocess by: asking for a destination t own, street and house number . Once enter ed, destinations are aut omatically saved so that t hey can be repeat edly and quickly accessed again at a lat er time.
15 Enter a str eet name and press Done . The onscreen k eyboard will no w come up to enable y ou to enter the number of the house you w ould like t o navigate t o. Y ou can now enter a house number or navigat e to an int ersection (junction): Press on the Find Int ersection button.
16 / Press on either the N/S or E/W button t o change betw een Nor th and South (latitude) or East and West (longitude). Now enter t he coordinat e in its relevant unit of measure. The “degree” butt on will automaticall y change t o the next unit of measur e etc.
17 Press on an icon of your c hoice to select a POI sub-category, suc h as Shopping Center . Y ou will now be shown a list of POI’s matching your sear ch crit eria and information on their distance.
18 Select the entr y you want t o navigate t o from the list and pr ess it. Y ou will now be shown additional information on the select ed destination.
19 Minimising/maximising the map Y ou can minimise or maximise the map to view the ar ea your destination is locat ed in on the map. Use the Plus/Minus butt ons to minimise and maximise the view of the map. Entering W ay Points Y ou can use the Edit Way P oints menu to enter W ay Points on the map.
20 NB: If the Lucca is r eceiving GPS signals, it will automatically use its curr ent position as the starting point for any rout e. Route T o : T o use this place as a destination Add Via : T o use this place as an intermediat e destination Continue : T o use this place as a fi nal destination.
21 Y ou will now be shown an input mask. Enter a ne w name for t he destination. Press OK . The destination will now be renamed. Deleting a destination (F avourites only) Press the Navigation butt on in the main menu. The Navigation menu opens. Press the Destination butt on.
22 Press the Advanced Settings button. The Advanced Se ttings menu opens. Press the User data management button. The User data management menu opens. Press Remove Pins t o delete all of the pins shown on the map. Y ou will now be shown a confi rmation promp t.

25 Starting route planning without the use of GPS signals If you do not ha ve an y GPS reception, y ou can still star t rout e planning in order t o gain an overview of the rout e. Y ou can do so provided: Y ou have enter ed a destination as described in the chapt er “Entering a destination” .
26 Change the map’s orientation Y ou can use the following butt ons to change the map’ s orientation to: the direction y ou are driving in (default) North Over view mode (2D view).
27 Map view during rout e guidance During rout e guidance, the map view will feature a range of na vigational aids and rout e information. Caution Please not e that information displa yed on the map m.
28 Y ou will now be present ed with the follo wing buttons: Daylight colour profi l : For selecting the colour settings used when vie wing the map in daylight Night colour profi l : For selecting the colour settings used when viewing the map in the night NB: The daylight/night time settings can be changed manually or set t o automatic.
29 Additional navigation functions The features described in t his chapt er are only available once a r oute has been planned (with or without use of the GPS signals).
30 Route information The Route Inf ormation menu can be used t o choose additional information on t he rout e to be displa yed on the map. The Route Infor mation menu can also be used to open t he Route Parame ter s menu. Y ou can also view the Rout e Information menu by pressing on t he rout e information shown on the map.
31 Select the distance for whic h you want to bloc k the rout e (star ting from y our current position). The Lucca will no w plan the rout e anew and circumv ent the block ed section of the rout e. NB: If you want t o remove the block placed on a section of the rout e, you have t o end rout e guidance.

33 Basic settings The Settings menu can be used t o change the Lucca ’s se ttings and to vie w product information. Press on the Info … butt on to view additional information on the L ucca’s software. General settings Press the Navigation butt on.
34 Y ou can select the tolerance either as a percentage value or kilometr es per hour . Press on Fix ed Value/Percentage to switch betw een the two se ttings.
35 Languages and units Y ou can use the Language & Units menu to select y our preferred menu and voice output language. Y ou can also use this menu to change t he time, date and distance displa ys. NB: When selecting the language for t he menus, the Navigation application will close and restart to load the new language settings.
36 The Brightness menu opens. Slide the Set custom backlight value for daylight contr oller along the bar to adjust the brightness for da y mode. Slide the Set custom backlight value at night controller along the bar t o adjust the brightness for night mode.
37 Y ou can also use this menu to select the cursor on the map t o be aligned with the relevant r oad you are tra velling along or to sho w your actual position, e.g. when walking. NB: If you select ed “Pedestrian” under Vehicle Pr ofi le in the rout e parameters, the cursor will aut omatically show y our actual position.
38 GPS operating principle The Global Positioning Sy stem (GPS) w as developed b y the American militar y in the 1970’s. GPS’s rel y on a to tal of 24 satellit es that are orbiting the earth and transmit signals.
39 Music Play er Y ou can also use the Lucca t o playback audio fi les from a SD/MMC card. The Lucca recognises the f ollowing audio fi le formats: MP3, WMA and OGG. Audio content is played bac k either over the Lucca ’s int er nal speaker or a se t of headphones.
40 Picture Viewer Y ou can also use the Lucca t o view images stor ed on a SD-/MMC card. Lucca r ecognises JPG, GIF and BMP format image fi les. The chapt er “Using the SD/MMC card” contains information on how t o use and prepare the car d. Starting the Picture Viewer T urn on the Lucca using the On/Off button.
41 Uploading car tographic material The car tographic mat erial of the countr y in which you bought y our Lucca will have been pre-installed ont o your Lucca. This car tographic mat erial will also be provided on t he supplied CD/DVD for lat er re-installation.

43 F requently Ask ed Questions /F AQ Why does the Lucca need GPS reception? The Lucca needs GPS recep tion to determine its position. It receives inf or mation both on its location and direction of trav el from the GPS satellit es. This is what enables the Lucca to saf ely guide you to y our destination.
