13 1 Getting Started 1.1 Install the USIM Card The USIM card (Universal Subscri ber Interfac e Module) is the sm all plastic chi p with go ld contact s supplied by T elstra. Thi s cont ains your p hone numbe r and act s as a store for y our contacts. It can be moved between d ifferent phones if r equired.
14 1.2 Insert the Battery Insert the bat tery caref ully w ith the cont a ct s lo cate d ag ainst t he g old s prings . The battery will only fit one w ay . Close the cas e by locating th e plastic cov er into the grooves and sl iding the cov er up to close it.
15 1.3 Switch the Phone on and Connect the Charger Press and ho ld the key for two seconds to switch your phone on. T he phone t akes about 15 secon ds to initia lize.
16 1.4 Charging and Battery life • Only use the charger sup plied. • Normal charge time is 2-3 hours. • When not using th e phone for a long period remove the battery and store it in a cool dry place. • Do not leave th e phone con nected to the charger for extended periods of time eg > 24 hrs.

18 Select K eys The two key s at the top of the key pad are called the S elect Key s . The left an d right Select Keys are used to choose the options fr om the bott om of the scr een. In the abov e example the Lef t Sele ct Key opens FO XTEL and the Right Select Ke y launches BigPond.
19 1.6 Enter your Contacts There are s everal metho ds availabl e to enter cont acts into your phon e. The Gett ing S tarted Section deals w ith adding your cont acts man ua lly and copying contact s from a previous SIM card. See th e Advanced S ection for a dding cont acts from your PC and importi ng conta cts from Microsof t Outlook.
20 Add a contact from a received call n umber If someone cal ls you and you wish t o save their number as a new cont act, perform t he following: • Press the key to bring up y our Call List. • The last call received w ill be at the top of the list.
21 1.7 Edit your Contacts to Change Ringtones and Groups Once you h ave added some cont acts you can e dit them to change th e Group an d to set a personalised R ing T one. • Contacts are normally stored in the default Grou p, Unclassi fied. • Y ou can move your contact s into other Group s: Mates, Fami ly , Friends, Work, and VIP .
22 1.8 Set Speed Dials Once you h ave entered some cont acts y ou can assign speed di al keys to y our chosen contact s: • Press Do wn A rrow Key (or other key if you hav e changed it ) to enter the Contact s menu. • Use the Arrow K eys to scroll t o the contact you w ish to assign a S peed Dial Num ber .
23 1.9 Make a Call Dial the number manually • If required press the * k ey twice for the Internat ional Pr efix ‘+’. • Enter the number on the k eypad a nd press th e key to make th e call. • When the call is conn ected you c an press th e OK Key for Handsfree mode.
24 Choose a number from y our call list (incoming, outg oing and missed calls) • Press the key to bring up y our call list. • U se the Up and Down Arrow Keys to scroll t o the desired number (last number redi al select the top number ). • Press the key to make the call .
25 1.10 Send an SMS (Text Message) From the Idle Screen press the Right A rr ow Key (or other k ey if you have ch anged it) to open the Mess ages Menu: • Press the OK Key to select New Message.

32 Set the Owner name The owner n ame is display ed on the Idle Screen. • From the Idle Screen press the OK Key for the Main Menu . • Press the Down Arrow then the Lef t A rrow fo r Settings , press OK . • Go to 4) for Owner Name. • Ty pe your name a nd press t he OK Key to save.
33 Customise the Shortcut K eys From the Idle S creen y ou can press t h e Arrow Key s to access v arious menus. It is pos sible to change the shortcut key s to your own prefer ence.
34 1.14 Using File Manager All user files and dow nloaded conten t are stored i n the File Ma nager secti on of the han dset. Browse the folders to find all the user acce ssible files th at are stored.
35 T -Flash Card Your handset i s equipp ed with a Mi cro SD ca rd slot to ex pand the pho ne’s av ailable mem ory up to 2GB. Y ou can store images, v i deos, music files, v oice data etc on your T -Flash card. From the Home S creen press OK Key for the Main Menu .
36 Press the OK key to open a folder a nd Select a file. Press Left se lec t Key for Options : ¾ Send : You can send the selected files via MMS, E mail or Blue tooth ¾ Set as ringtone /wallpaper : You can s et the sele cted audio file or picture as ringtone or wallpaper.
37 1.15 Make a Video Call • Y ou need good quality 3G coverage with at l east 3 bars o f signal to make and receive v ideo calls. • Enter the phone number usi ng the key pad or from y our Contact s list. • Press to make a v ideo call. • Press to end the cal l.
38 1.16 Receive a Video Call Y ou will only be able t o receive a video call when y ou have good 3G coverage. If y ou are b rowsin g or play ing video o r audio fil es the n the browser or med ia player w ill be suspen ded in the ba ckground w hile you answer th e video call.
39 1.17 Set Alarms and Appointments Set Alar ms In the main menu selec t T ools then Al a r m . Press the OK Key to Add a new alarm. Configure y our alarm as r equired by following the Alarm S etup Screen. • Daily Alarm goes off every day . • Workday Alarm goes of f Mon – Fri only .
40 Set Appointments through the C ale ndar Access the c alendar from th e main menu. • From the Idle Screen press OK for the main menu . • Go to down and left for t he Calendar and press OK to open it. • Press the Right Select Key to Add. • Y ou can add a Meetin g, Memo or Anniv ersary .
41 1.18 Send an E-mail • From the Idle Screen press the Lef t A rrow Key (or o ther key if y ou have changed it) to get to the E-mail menu. • Press Select to create a new E-mail. • Enter the sender address e.g. user name@domain .com • Press the down arro w to acce ss the Copy T o Field.

44 1.20 Send a Multimedia Message (MMS) When you se nd a Multimedia Me ssage you c an att ach a pictur e, music or video file. • From the Idle Scr een press t he Right Arrow Key (or other key if y ou hav e changed it) to access the mess ages menu. • Press OK to create a new message.
45 1.21 Receive a Multimedia Message (MMS) When you re ceive a MMS y ou get a st andard message alert. Press OK to View the message. If req uired pres s Retrieve to download the messa ge atta chment. When the attachm ent has downloa ded press the Right Select Ke y for Options .
46 1.23 Download Music, Pictures, Ringtones and Games There are v arious way s to enhance your p hone by download ing conte nt from the intern et. The Bigpond D ow nloads section is free to look at so you ca n ea sily see w hat is on offer . The downloads ar e regularly updated by T elstra.
47 1.24 Use your Phone as a Music Player (MP3 Player) Once you hav e downloaded m usic or import ed it from y our PC (see 2.4) y ou can play your own music on your phone.

49 2 Advanced Operation 2.1 Use Join Me to Connect your Phone to your PC Join Me is a PC appli cation th at enables y ou to connect your ph one to y our PC. Once you have inst alled it you can con nect your P C to the internet , copy music and pictur e files fr om your persona l collection use your P C to enter an d back up y our contacts.
50 2.2 Installing Join Me Please inst all Join Me from the CD before connecti ng your ph one to your P C. • Insert the CD provided into y our PC. • Th e CD should auto -s tart after a few seconds. • The installation shield will launch and guide y ou through the install set up.
51 2.3 Use Join Me to Copy your Pictures to your PC If you have t aken some photos on your pho ne you can tran sfer them ont o your PC usi ng Join Me: • Make sure y our phone i s switched on and connecte d to your PC , and Join Me has been install ed.
52 1. Open the Media T ab. 2. Open the My Pictures fold er on My Phone . 3. Drag the pi cture from My Phone up to a folder on y our PC. 4. Alternatively you can ri ght click and use Copy and Pa ste from the m enu.
53 2.4 Use Join Me to Copy Music Files from your PC to your Phone If you hav e MP3 files on y our PC you can transfer t hem onto y our phone using Join Me. • Make sure y our phone i s switched on and connecte d to your PC , and Join Me has been install ed.

58 2.7 Use Join Me to Connect your PC to the Internet Y ou can use your mobile phone as a dial up modem to connec t your PC to the i nternet. The latest HSDP A wireless netw ork technology achieves broadband sp eeds up to 3.6Mbp s. Please see T elstra for a list of a pplicable dat a charges.
59 2.8 Connect to a Bluetooth Device Y our mobile includes Blueto oth which ca n be used to connect your handset to w ireless headsets and han ds free car kit s. Y ou can al so transfer f iles between your phon e and other Bluetooth dev ices such as another phone or a laptop.

Bluetooth can be co ns idered as a wireless re placement fo r the USB conn ection and do es not rely on the USB driv ers or Join Me soft ware.
