5 SECTION 2: CONTENTS OF HARDWARE PACK Lay out the har dware accor ding to the il lustrat ion belo w for identific ation purp oses. Par t numbers ar e shown in parenthe ses. (Hardwa re pack may c ontain extra i tems which are not used on you r unit.) * The augers are secured to the spiral shaft with two shear bolts and hex lock nuts.
6 SECTION 3: ASSEMBLING YOUR SNOW THROWER IMPORT ANT: After assemb ly, serv ice engin e with gasolin e, and che ck oil level as instr ucted in the separat e engine manu al pack ed with your uni t. NOTE: References to right or le ft side of t he snow thrower ar e determi ned from be hind the uni t in the operatin g posit ion.
7 Attaching Clu tch Grips (Use Hardware Group B.) • Slide th e pivot rod i nto the cover tub e as show n in Figure 3. NOTE: In some model s, the pivot rod and cove r tube may be pre-as semble d. Figure 3 • Pla ce the clutc h grips i n position on the rod as shown in F igure 4.

10 Traction Co ntrol & Shift Lever • To check the adjustme nt of the traction control and shift lev er, move the shi ft lever all the way to the right to fift h (5) positio n. With the tra ction con trol releas ed, push the sn ow thrower forward.
11 SECTION 4: KNOW YOUR SNOW THROWER WARNING: Be fami liar with all the controls and the ir proper opera tion. Kno w how to stop the mach ine and diseng age them qu ickly. Fig ure 16 Shift Lever The shif t lever is locate d below the handle panel . See Figure 16.
12 SECTION 5: OPERATING YOUR SNOW THROWER Before Starting WARNING: Read, unde rstand, an d follow all instr uctions and warni ngs on the ma chine and in this ma nual befor e operating . • Check the o il level in the engine before operatin g; fill up if neces sary.
13 • As engi ne warms up and beg ins to ope rate evenly , rotate c hoke kno b sl owly to OFF pos ition. If engine falters, ret urn to FULL chok e, then slow ly move to OFF posit ion. T o Stop Eng ine • Run engine for a few minutes before sto pping to help dry off any moisture on the engine.

17 • Unhook the idler spri ng from the hex bol t on the auger hous ing. See F igure 27. • Unhook the support br acket sp ring from the frame. NOTE: It ma y be neces sary to loosen the six nuts tha t conne ct the fr ame to the a uger housing t o aid in b elt remova l.
18 • Remove the six screws fr om the friction wheel assembl y (three fro m each side ). See Figure 30.
