CONNECTIONS 6 Do not connect this unit or other components to the mains power until all connections are complete. Both AM and FM indoor antennas are include d with this unit. In general, these antennas should pro vid e sufficient signal strength. Connect each antenna corre ctly to the designated terminals.
7 CONNECTIONS SETUP ■ Connecting the AM loop antenna 1 Set up the AM loop antenna . 2 Press and hold the tab to insert the AM loop antenna lead wires into the AM A NT and GND terminals. 3 Orient the AM loop ant enna for the best reception. • The AM loop antenna sh ould be placed away from this unit.
8 CONNECTIONS ■ Connecting a c oaxial cable to th e 75-ohm/300-ohm antenn a adapter (inclu ded for U .K. model only) 1 Open the co ver of the included 75-ohm/300-ohm antenna ada pter . 2 Cut the external slee ve of the 75-ohm coaxial cable and prepare it for connection .
9 CONNECTIONS SETUP Do not connect this unit or other components to the main powe r until all connections between components are complete. Be sure to connect the left (“L”) and right (“R”) LINE OUT jacks to the corresponding (left an d righ t) input jacks of the amplifier .
10 CONNECTIONS ■ Connecting the A C po wer cord Plug the po wer cord into an A C wall outlet. ■ Memory back -up The memory back-up circuit pre vents the stored data from being lost. Ho wev er, the stored data will be lost if this unit is turned off for more than one week e ven when the power cord is connected.
TUNING 11 OPERA T IONS There are 2 tuning methods ; automatic and manual. Automatic tuning is effecti ve when sta tion signals are strong and there is no in terference. ■ A utomatic tuning 1 Press FM/AM to select the reception band. “FM” or “AM” appears in the front panel display .
12 TUNING ■ A utomatically presetting FM stations Y ou ca n use the automa tic pres et tuning feature to store FM stations. This function enables this unit to automatically tu ne into FM stations with strong signals, and to store up to 40 (8 stations in 5 groups, A1 through E8) of those stations in order .
13 TUNING OPERA T IONS ■ Manuall y presetting stations Y ou can also store up to 40 stat ions (8 stations x 5 groups) manually . 1 T une into a station . See page 11 for tuning instructions. When tuned into a station, the front panel display shows the frequency of the station recei ved.
14 TUNING Y ou can tune any desired stat ion simply by se lecting the preset station number under which it was stored. 1 Press A/B/C/D/E repeatedly to select a preset station group (A to E) in the front panel displa y . The station group is displayed in the front panel display .
15 TUNING OPERA T IONS 4 Press EDIT again. The stations stored at the two pre set assignments are exchanged. EDIT EDIT Shows the exchange of st ations is complete.
TROUBLESHOOTING 16 Refer to the chart belo w when this unit does not function properl y . If the problem you are exper iencing is not listed below or if the instruction belo w does not help, turn of f the powe r of this unit, disconnect th e po wer cord, and contact the nearest authorized Y AMAHA dealer or s ervice center .
