If the connections are f aulty , this unit cannot reproduce the input sources accurately . A speaker cord is actually a pair of insula ted cables running side by side.
14 En Connec tions ■ Connecting the speak er cable 1 Remove appro x imately 10 mm (0.4 in) of insulation from the end of each speaker cable and then twist the ex posed wires of the cable together to pr event short circuits. 2 Loosen the knob. 3 Insert one bare wire into the hole on the side of each term inal.
15 En Connections PREP ARA TION English ■ A udio jac ks This unit has three types of audio jacks. Connection depends on the av ailability of audio jacks on your other components. A UDIO jacks For con ventional analo g audio signals transmitted via left and right analog audio cables .
16 En Connec tions ■ HDMI compatibili ty with this unit • When CPPM copy-protected D VD audio is played back, video and audio si gnals may not be output depend ing on the type of the D VD player . • This unit is not compatible w ith HDCP-incompatible HDMI or D VI components.
17 En Connections PREP ARA TION English ■ A udio signal flow • 2-channel as well as multi-channel PCM, Dolby Digital and DTS signals input at the HDMI IN 1 or HDMI IN 2 jack can be output at the HDMI OUT jack only when “SUPPORT A UDIO” is set to “OTHER” (see page 77).

24 En Connec tions Both FM and AM indoor ante nnas are supplied with this unit. Connect each antenna correctly to the designated terminals. In general, these antennas should provide suff icient signal strength. y See page 8 for connectio n information of the su pplied indoor FM antenna and AM loop antenna.

Refer to the right column for details. 2 Press and hold B TONE CONTR OL on the front panel and then press A ST ANDBY/ON to turn on this unit. Use the Pure Direct mode to enjo y the pure high fi delity sound of the selected source. FM/AM TUNING 50 En There are 2 tuning methods: automatic a nd manual. Automatic tuning is ef fecti ve when st ation signals are strong and there is no interference.
51 En FM/AM tuning BAS I C OPERA TION English Y ou can use the automatic pres et tuning feature to store up to 40 FM stations with strong signals (A1 to E8: 8 preset station numbers in each of the 5 preset station groups) in order . Y ou can then recall an y preset station ea sily by selecting the pres et station number .

54 En XM Satellite Radio tuning Once you ha ve installed the XM Mini-T uner Dock, inserted the XM Mini-T uner, connected the XM Dock to your XM Ready® home audio system, and installed the antenna, you are ready to subscribe and begin recei ving XM programming.

USING IPOD™ 58 En Once you hav e stationed your iPod in a Y a maha iPod univ ersal dock (such as the YDS-10, sold separately) connected to the DOCK terminal of this unit (see page 23), you can enjoy playback of your iPod using the supplied remote control.
