Introduction 1 Intr oduction Thank you for purchasing a Y amaha CR W4261t drive. Please read this manual before using the driv e in order to mak e the best use of the superior CR W4261t functions. After reading, please retain this manual for future reference.
Introduction 2 Orange Book Compatible Recording T rack at Once In this mode, data can be recorded to disc one track at a time. Discs recorded in this mode cannot be played in CD players or CD- R OM drives other than a CD-R W or a CD-R drive until the session is closed.
Chapter 1 - System Configuration 3 Chapter 1 - System Configuration Before using the CR W4261t, make sure that you hav e all of the items on the list of included items.
Chapter 1 - System Configuration 4 Discs On the CR W4261t, you can use con ventional CD-R W and CD-R discs that conform to the Recordable Compact Disc Systems Part 2 and 3 (Orange Book).
Chapter 2 - Installing the Yamaha CRW4261t Drive 5 Chapter 2 - Installing the Y amaha CR W4261t Drive MASTER/SLA VE settings Before you install the CR W4261t in your computer , you must make the MASTER/SLA VE setting. This setting is set by inserting a jumper pin in the jumper switch located on the rear panel of the CR W4261t driv e.
Chapter 2 - Installing the Yamaha CRW4261t Drive 6 Setting the CR W4261t as the MASTER As shown in the diagram at the right, insert the jumper pin into the right edge of the jumper switch. Note: If only the CRW4261t will be connected to the IDE interface connector , connect the CRW4261t to the end of the connector .

For details on remo ving the cover from your computer , and installing or removing internal de vices, refer to the manual for your computer .

Chapter 2 - Installing the Yamaha CRW4261t Drive 9 6. Connect the IDE interface connector . Connect the 40-pin IDE interface connector to the IDE interface located on the rear panel of the CR W4261t driv e. Position the connector so that the colored line is at pin 1 (your lower right).

Connect the +12V and +5V 4-pin power cable to the po wer supply interface located on the rear panel of the CR W4261t drive. The shape of the connector makes it impossible to re verse the connec- tions.
Chapter 2 - Installing the Yamaha CRW4261t Drive 11 9. Tighten the four fastening scre ws securely . 10. Attach the co ver of your computer . 11. Connect the power cable to an A C outlet, and s witch on your computer . Make sure that the LED located on the panel of the CR W4261t drive is lit.

Pressing the eject button will open the tray . 2 Headphone jack This stereo mini jack allows you to connect headphones and listen to audio. 3 Headphone v olume control This control adjusts the volume le vel of the headphone output.
Chapter 3 - Operation 13 6 Eject button This button is used to open or close the tray . 7 Manual Eject hole This is used to manually eject a disc that cannot be ejected in the nor- mal way . It is for emergency use only . Loading a Disc 1. Press the eject button to open the tra y .
Chapter 3 - Operation 14 Ejecting the Disc If the CR W4261t is powered on: Press the eject button to eject the disc. Note: Y ou cannot eject the disc if the A T API command prohibits the eject operation while the CRW4261t is r eading data. Caution: Be sur e to remove the disc after it is completely ejected.
Chapter 3 - Operation 15 Manual Eject (emer g ency use) Here we explain ho w to eject the disc when it cannot be ejected in the normal way; for example, the po wer is shut off inadv ertently or the loading mechanism fails. This technique should be used only as a last resort.
Troubleshooting 16 T r oubleshooting If CR W4261t is not performing as expected, look up the symptoms in the follo wing table, and take the appropriate correcti ve action. Symptoms Corrective action The power to the CR W4261t is off • Check the DC po wer cable connection.
