I NTRODUCTION 7 User so ftwar e The following table lists the user softwar e that is described in this document. This is the user software you need for setting up basic printing on the F iery . Other documents may describe other user software depending on what you ar e trying to accomplish.

I NSTALLING P RINTER D RI VERS 9 B EFOR E YO U BEGIN Ask your I ntegrated F ier y Color Server admini strator to do the following in Setup on the Integrated F iery Color Ser ver: • Assign the Integr ated Fiery Color Server a valid IP address . Ask the administrator for the IP addr ess or DNS name because you need it in the following procedure.
I NSTALLING P RINTER D RI VERS 10 Y ou must now create a printer port and insta ll the printer driver from the U ser Software DV D. N OTE : Y ou cannot use P oint and P rint to install the driver and configur e the printing connection to the Integrated F iery Color Server in a single procedure.
I NSTALLING P RINTER D RI VERS 11 T O DOWNLOAD PRINTER DRIV ER FILES WITH W EB T OOLS 1 Start your Internet or intranet br ow ser and type the DNS name or IP address of the Integrated Fiery Color Server. 2 Click the Downloads tab . 3 Click the link for the item that you want to install.

I NSTALLING P RINTER D RI VERS 13 • Integrated F iery Color Server is not configured properly . • IP address is not correct. If you encounter one of the situations mentione d, you can continue to set up the port by configuring the port manually .
I NSTALLING P RINTER D RI VERS 14 13 Type a name f or the Integrated Fiery Color Serv er in the Printer name field, indicate whether you w ant to make it the def ault printer , and click Next. This name is used in the P rinte rs window and the queues window .
I NSTALLING P RINTER D RI VERS 15 Installing and connecting to a virtual printer A virtual printer allows you to print to the I ntegrated F ier y Color Server using a predefined set of job settings.
I NSTALLING P RINTER D RI VERS 16 10 Type the name o f the DVD driv e and brow se to the PrntdrvrPs_drvrWin_2K_XP_VIST A folder . 11 Make sur e “Oemsetup.inf” or “Oem setup” is selected and click Open. 12 V erify that the path is corr ect in the Install From Disk dialo g box and click OK.

T o delete all the installe d printer driv ers, select th e Delete All Printe r Driver s check box. 4 Click OK to delete the selected printer driver(s).

S ETTING U P P RINTING C ONNECTIONS 20 4 T o add a new port, click A dd Port. T o change the port settings, proceed to step 10 . 5 Windows 2000/XP/Server2003: Select Standard T CP/IP P ort from the list of A vailable port types and click New P ort Type .

S ETTING U P P RINTING C ONNECTIONS 22 Completing IPP connections With Internet P rinting Protocol (IPP), print jobs are sent to the Integrated F ier y Color Server over the I nternet. Before you begin, perform the following tasks: • Make sure the I n tegrated F ier y Color Server is configured for TCP/IP pri nting and IPP printing.

C ONFIGURING I NSTALLABLE O PTIONS 24 C ONFIGURING I NSTALLABLE O PTIONS After you complete the printer driver installa tion, you must configur e the Integrated F iery Color Server for the options installed on the di gital pr ess to allow the Integrated F iery Color Server to take advantage of the digital pr ess options.
C ONFIGURING I NSTALLABLE O PTIONS 25 Configuring installed options and updating print options settings automatically If you enabled a T CP/IP network, you can automa tically update your printer driver to reflect the options currently installed on the digital pres s.
P RINTING U TILITIES 26 P RINTING U TILITIES In addition to printing jobs from the I n tegr ated F ier y Color Server printer driv er , you can print jobs using the following utilities: •J o b M o n i t o r Y ou can view information about the print jobs sent to the Integrated F ier y Color Server.
P RINTING U TILITIES 27 6 Select the Monitor my print job option. When you send your first print job to the Inte grated F ier y Color Server, Jo b M onitor opens a utility window and establishes a connection to the Integrated F iery Color Server.
P RINTING U TILITIES 28 • Manage jobs using an e-mail application. Y ou can manage your print jobs by submitting e-mail commands to the Integrated F ier y Color Server using e-mail. •S c a n t o E - m a i l . Y ou can scan a document and send it to an e- mail address as an attachment or URL.
P RINTING U TILITIES 29 N OTE : If your attachment exceeds the file siz e limitation set by your e-mail system administrator , the e-mail is not sent. 5 Optionally , you can type text in the body of the message .
P RINTING U TILITIES 30 Managing print jobs with e-mail commands Y ou can manage your print jobs by submitti ng commands to the Integrated F iery Color Server using e-mail. Y ou can cancel a job, chec k job status, and get help on a job. When you send a command, the Integrated F iery Colo r Server returns an e-mail response.
P RINTING U TILITIES 31 Printing fr om a USB de vice Y ou can print files on a USB device to the Integrated Fiery Color Server. T o do so, save files to the USB device and do wnload them directly to the Integrated F iery Color Ser ver. Y ou can print files that originated on Windo ws computers.
P RINTING U TILITIES 32 FTP printing If FTP S ervices are enabled on the Integrated F iery Color Ser ver, the I ntegrated F iery Color Server is set up as an FTP ser ver . Y ou can send jobs to the Integrated F ier y Color Server using FTP printing. F or more information about configuring FTP Services, see Configur ation and Set up .
P RINTING 33 P RINTING This chapter describes printing to the Integr ated F ier y Color Server. Y ou can print from a networked Windows computer or a computer us ing Wind ows (WINS) printing. Y ou can also print to a file so that it can be printed at a remote location (see “Saving files to print at a remote location ” on page 53).
P RINTING 34 T O SET PRINT OPTIONS FO R A SPECIFIC W IN DOWS PRINT JOB USING THE PCL OR P OST S CRIPT PRINTER DRIVER 1 Choose Print in your application. 2 Select the Integr ated Fiery Color Serv er as your printer and click Pr operties. 3 Click the Fiery Printing tab .
P RINTING 35 5 In the Expert Color Settings dialog box, click Update to display the current Integr ated Fiery Color Server settings. If the U p date button does not appear , make su re th at th e T wo.
P RINTING 36 9 Type instructions to the oper ator about the job in the Instructions field. These instructions are displaye d in Command W orkS tation, but do not appear in the J ob Log. These instructions can be edited by the operator . 10 Type a user name and passwor d in the User Authentication ar ea.
P RINTING 37 N OTE : With the E-mail N otification feature enable d in the printer driver as described in “T o enable T wo-W ay Communication ” on page 25, you receiv e an e-mail notification after your job is printed or when a printing error occurs.
P RINTING 38 Adding and editing watermark s The Windo w s printer driver pro vides the watermarks feature. This feature allows you to select from a list of available watermar ks; create new w atermark.
P RINTING 39 2 Select a watermark from the menu and click Edit. The Edit W atermark dialog box appears. 3 Specify F ont and Size o f the te xt in the W atermark T e xt area.
P RINTING 40 Using pr esets Saving print option settings to your hard disk enables you to load specifically configured settings for a particular job as a preset. Y ou ca n also share presets ov er a network, using the Import and Export features. T O CREATE A PR ESET 1 Windows 2000: Click Start, choose Settings, and then choose Printers.
P RINTING 41 4 Under Pr eset, select a different preset. The preset is used until you select another one. N OTE : When you access the F ier y Prin ting tab from an application ’ s P rint dialog box and select a preset, the preset is used on ly for the current application session.
P RINTING 42 4 Under Pr eset, choose Save and manage list o f Job T emp. The J ob T emplates dialog box appear s. 5 Click a name to select the saved preset that y ou want to export or back up. 6 Click Export. 7 In the Export Job T em plates dialog box, bro wse to select a folder in which to save the pr eset.
P RINTING 43 7 Select the preset file and click Open. 8 Click OK to close the Job T emplates dialog box. N OTE : When you import presets, they appear in the P reset menu under the preset name, not the file name. In the preceding examples, the fi le present.
P RINTING 44 Customizing the Basic icon The Basic icon is on the F ier y P rinting tab. Y ou can customize it with the print options y ou use frequently . This saves time because you do no t have to open all of the other print option icons if you only want to set the options in Basic.
P RINTING 45 4 Click the Basic icon and then click Customize . The Customiz e Basic V iew dialog box is displayed. The dialog box contains the shortcuts for print options. The print options that currentl y appear in Basic ar e listed under Current Sho r tcu t s.

P RINTING 47 Defining and printing custom page sizes With custom page sizes, you define the dimensions of a printed page. After you define a custom page size, you can use it from within an application without redefining it each time you print.

P RINTING 53 Saving files to print at a re mote location If you do not have an I ntegrated F ier y Color Serv er onsite and are preparing files to take to a service bureau or other location, print the final fi les to the File port (a s opposed to one of the local ports).
